- In this video I talk over how getting over your sheep helps you get comfortably behind your blows which helps with rhythm and return, your rhythm is huge part of your sheep shearing technique to help one become a more efficient shearer

Excellent Shearer. He was a good teacher.
How do you make the first "cut" ? I've seen tons of videos that show the process and pattern of the "blows" but I havent found a video detailing how to make the first "cut" - and by that how to hold the cutter etc.. When I try sheering my sheep it looks like a 5 year old carved a block of foam rubber with a pair of dull scissors. How are you getting it so close to their skin like that, and how is it cutting so fast through the wool?
Hi Robbie. Watched all your vids and did my best two days shearing ever as a result. Thank you! Quick question. Why do Lister machines have three speed settings and which would be best for sticky (yellower than big bird) Welsh mountain ewes.
Cheers
The speed really depends how good/fast a shearer you are if your shearing sticky sheep then the comb is more important if your are a beginner slow or mid speed setting wool be fine if it’s on fast setting and your hand isn’t in the wool your comb will heat up and loose cut.
@@shearingschool What would be the type of comb that's best for that? I'm mostly using 88mm wide short bevel. Thanks again!
Hello my friend
How do you keep the cutters sharp…I shear sheep in the SW USA & sheep are dirty / sand on back. Dulls my cutters a lot. Any advice . Thanks
Change them often then wash and grind on a grinder made for the job
