You are totally right about it. I've read some articles about it and was astonished how even the officials of the FIG handled the scandal nonchalantly. It was the Australian gymnast Slater who complained about the height of the Vault - even by just looking at it from afar. She told her coach, it must be wrong and went there to stand nearby the apparatus and again claimed, she didn't grow overnight.... That was my initial thought back then and even today.... why didn't any other gymnast had the same observation during warm-up? I don't want to blame the other gymnasts, because it is a stressful situation. No doubt about it, but Alanna Slater stood her ground - and she was also in the same stressful situation. Kudos to her...
It was really a scandal. To this day I can not understand, why the competition wasn't interrupted. The whole outcome was a farce in the end! The results should be annulled for the All Around competition....
