  • Shota Imanaga was phenomenal again (lower league-leading ERA to 0.84), and the Cubs needed just 1 run to beat the Pirates.

    Was Belli safe before the tag or was he safe because the catch lost the ball? Let me know your thoughts

    Closest comp to Shota Imunaga really is Yu Darvish. Both have 5+ Pitches that all look the same until the last moment and then break 5 different ways. Yu was dominant when he 1st started. I think 🤔 that's what we are looking at in Shota Imunaga.

    Couldn't agree more about Mastrobouni. When he came up in that clutch situation with Happ on 3rd, his anxiety was palpable. Falter threw him about a 88 mph fastball right down the middle that he should have jumped on. He froze like a deer in the headlights.After strike 1, the AB was already over. He's not ready for the Big leagues. Send that kid back down.

      I really cannot stand his swing. It’s no surprise to me why he gets the results he does

    Bote is smashing it. 1 the best Pitch Hitters I've seen. Him, even Happ back at 2B a few games is an upgrade. Madrigol was supposed to be great, he's not showing that. Guys need time in the Majors to develop. He could be a Utility guy. Mastro hit over .300 in the spring. Shaw has been down otherwise he could fill SS, 2B, 3B, or either corner OF. That would be awesome Rn. But Bote called up over Madrigol is needed. I wonder 🤔 if they could shop Madrigol and get something for him. Always can it seems

    It's not Mastrobologna that has to go, it's King of the Double Play - Nick Madrigal.

    I'm not sure Shota will be better than Jake or not but I love what he brings to the CUBS!

    This was a big win Cubs needed it as for Shota he has great command and he understands how to setup a hitter and when you play Mastroboni and Madrigal every day they get exposed !!!

    I agree Kyle,both Mastroboni and Madrigal should be sent down and Vasquez and Bote or another infielder should be given a shot. Make Gillespie on his podcast has talked extensively about Vasquez and his Fielding skills. It's still a question on his bat however he's got a lot of pop in his bat. What do you think the Cubs are going to do with Hendricks? I think they might try him in the bullpen to pitch 1 to 2 innings before they have to make the tough decision.

      At least Vasquez has the potential of a home run. Mastro and Madrigal hitting .135 and .227 respectively and have the closest thing to 0 chance of hitting a HR. If Vasquez hits .200 with a HR every 25 PAs, that's a much higher ceiling (especially with his fielding).
      As for Hendricks. I think you have to give him the Heyward treatment. Thanks for your service, but we won't be needing you. It sucks, but it needs to happen. Maybe a trade, but the team that gets him is basically bringing him in with no physical value expected

    If it's good enough for Jeter, it's good enough for Belli.

    I agree that I don’t get the deal with Bote. Why do they refuse to give him a shot? I would actually send down Madrigal before Mastro. He’s generally been okay at short and his hitting was coming around. He’s not a shortstop so he’s learning on the fly. The slow roller should have been cut by Morel. I think Mastro expected that, and was caught off guard when it didn’t happen. That’s part of Morel’s growing pains. Anyway, I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing if Bote would be an upgrade over Madrigal. Not much to lose.

      @SetupManCubs  Před měsícem +1

      Thats the only argument is that there is something to lose. You have to DFA someone (or hope someone lands on the 60 day IL).
      That’s the only way to get Bote on the 40 man to be able to call him up.
      And with all of the injuries this year, that’s a riskier move than years past

      Also a great question. With Nico out, someone has to lead off, but I’d still rather it be Tauch
