You can simply not tell if Godzilla is CGI made or real. Which means CGI is great in Godzilla. The movie was fantastic and the effort behind it even more so.
This movie was great. Fantastic put together. One of my all time favourite movies. The effort in making it is astonishing. Only very smart and clever people could make a movie to be soo real, so much hard work behind the scenes. And the actors were great also. 10/10 movie.
Thank you for putting this up, it's always cool to see more behind the scenes for this film. Regardless of its stigma, I'm still very interested in the making of this iteration of Godzilla.
@@matthewsinclair5758 I have indeed seen that video. It was great to see someone talking about the sequel pitch. I'd like to imagine how it would have turned out. At least we got the series.
Great BTS video, thanks for posting. You can really tell this was from the ‘CGI is best’ era of special effects by how much they underplay all the many physical effects.
This is a visual effects wonder. While yes, there are scenes that look dated, especially the baby Zillas, but the sense of scale, the lighting in many shots and the physics are incredible. The scene where Godzilla gets shot at first time, he turns and then ducks is flawless.
Godzilla 1998 is unironically a great movie. The hate against this movie is proof of the 'free Barabas' principle. People will sign on for any take as long as it's popular and there's no accountability.
Glad to see this video has gained a bit of traction. Figured it would after the new Godzilla vs. Kong movie came out. I don't have much more content like this, but I'm planning on uploading some more videos soon. Mostly commercials, but I think I have a Jurassic Park special effects TV Special taped as well.
The hater get this movie all wrong sure zilla doesn't look like Godzilla but the creature's of the movie made their own Godzilla. This chip shows how much respect they have for the first Godzilla and it shows, yes Godzilla could have been more aggressive but overall this is Godzilla
Have you ever had a time where you were drunk in a big crowd at a concert or a stand-up comedy show and right before you shout something appallingly stupid everybody else suddenly went silent?
While I do see the errors this movie holds now, back then this movie was stellar in both visual effects and action. The story was pretty decent too, and had some genuine fears tied into it; with Godzilla becoming a new dominant species on the Earth (reminds me of Reign of Fire). What I will always take away from this film is it's INSANE level of CGI and how they managed to transpose practical visual effects (an animatronic, a small figurine, etc.) and then have either CGI or a blue screen interlace with the actors to make what looks HUGE AND REAL look EVEN MORE REAL when they place the actors there. My ONLY thing about the monster Zilla here is that with a roar that can tear down fences, flip cars, etc. Why in the heck doesn't Nick frickin' DIE when he roars in his face? Anyways, loved this video. Thanks for sharing!
(See 2:42) You thought it would be _more_ respectful? Sorry, sweetheart. The "old" Godzilla would use yours and toss him aside the road without so much as a courtesy wipe.
For 1998, this was a great movie. the CGI wasn't bad either. I really like how they put some comedy in the move too

Despite the unfortunate reaction this movie got, you can tell the crew had a fun time while they were filming it.
I don’t care what anyone says, this was the best Godzilla movie ever made!
Are you Sick?
@@classicjackson97 Its better than 2014 godzilla and alsko King of monsters..
@@thorodinson524 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Facts 💯💯
Yeah I love this movie but I would put Godzilla vs kong over this one. The 98 version is better than a lot of the older movies though.

YES!!! Finally! SOMETHING about the BTS of this movie, over 20 minutes, and good enough quality and sound! Thanks SO MUCH for this video!
This Godzilla was my first introduction to Godzilla back in 1998, i watched this movie with my family in cinema💚 #ChildhoodGodzilla
This was also my first introduction to Godzilla back in 1998, same as you, except I saw it on the tv.

That music at 17:26 is absolutely epic

I miss late 90s- early 00s BTS featurettes. They had a certain charm, the actors were always so optimistic about the movie
The greatest Godzilla movie of all time

it’s definitely in my top 5 I wouldn’t say greatest though

I really love that soundtrack
I try to search for it in the Godzilla 1998 soundtrack ;_;
I like this movie, the monster too. I also like the Toho version.

You can say the same for the series.
a cool idea 1982 and now i will come last time again story standing
Music:David Arnold(1998)

I love this movie and the cgi
I know this is rare footage which is why it's low quality but still though even quality like this was outdated all the way back in 1998
“You know that if the creature survives, we won’t and at the same time it means us no harm “

What 3d software they used back then?

lol of course America tries to make Godzilla “leaner and meaner.” It’s amazing how the irony is lost on this movie’s production.
that godzilla was stupid-- why make it look like a t rex
Because the second Jurassic Park movie had just come out the year before
