    Great review as always, Jon. I bought this toothbrush on your recommendation and I absolutely love how gentle is it on my receding gums. One worry I have is, no matter how much I try to achieve the green light when brushing, I always end up going from not enough pressure to too much. I find the smart pressure a distraction. When I briefly manage to achieve green, it's too much pressure for me. I'm hoping even without achieving the optimal pressure, I'm still giving my teeth a good clean.

    • @ElectricTeeth

      Glad you like the review and are pleased with the brush.
      Thanks for the feedback on the pressure sensor. Ideally you want to be getting that green, but you will still be doing an ok job I am sure with a bit less. With receding gums you do have to be careful. 👍

    Very helpful video - very happy with the iO 6 I recently purchased. The pressure sensor turns out to be a big plus because apparently I fairly frequently use too little pressure (much more often than I use too much), The app is also very useful because it turns out that just relying on the 30-second quadrant timer leads to two problems for me. First, I don't get any of the rear sections clean enough (at least not according to the app). Second, the results for the three parts of each "quadrant" (i.e., upper inside, upper outside, lower inside, lower outside) are not even after 30 seconds.
    This has gotten me seriously thinking about the iO9 ($$$ gasp). I am thinking that if the io9 can really distinguish inside from outside surfaces I could get better (more even) results. With the iO 8 and below, in theory I think you could turn a rear sector "white" (clean) just by brushing the inside or the outside (but not the other) long enough. If (a big if) the iO9 reports its position accurately enough, you could avoid that error.
    In real life, maybe it's not a big deal because no one is going to only brush the inside or outside, and maybe results even out over time, but maybe they don't.
    I'm curious enough that I am going to give the iO9 a try and see if I can get at least a feeling for whether the more detailed reporting seems to be useful. That all depends on how accurate the position reporting is, and I can't find any tests of that. (Hint: that would be a super-interesting video!). The iO9 is still staggeringly expensive at almost 2x the price of the already seriously expensive (for a toothbrush) iO6. (Right now in the U.S., the iO6 comes with only one brush, while the iO9 comes with four, and with iO brushes going for around US$7.50 each that means you're getting US$22.50 of brushes "free" as part of the US$150 upcharge for the iO9 vs. the iO6...a minor consolation.)

      Tricky one. I'd probably pick the iO6.
      The only downside here is that the brush heads for the iO Series are more expensive.
      Either are good and will clean the teeth well.

    Can you do a review between the io6 vs io9 I’m trying to decided what model to buy it’s seems like there so close? Is the io9 worth the premium price?

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  Před rokem +2

      That is probably one of the few videos we have not recorded! They are similar. The short answer is that for most people, we recommend the iO6 over the 9 due to the price. The iO9 does come with extras, but for most this isn't necessary or justifiable for the price premium. Hi,
    Thanks for the great review. A question regarding the battery life. When you say over 2 weeks, does the power in the toothbrush get weaker and weaker after each time as the old oral Bs do, or does the power remain the same until the battery dies? If I am traveling for one week, do I need to bring the charger with me?
    Thanks!

    • @ElectricTeeth

    Currently use a Oral-B Pro 3000 since 5 years.
    Sometimes I see some plaque left on the gumline and I have to use some manual toothbrush to get rid of it.
    I tried charcoal toothpaste too, that helped a bit, but that is too abrasive and causes gum irritation and blood leaks after a week.
    Maybe the IO series 6 is a good upgrade?
    My gums are very sensitive, easy to harm them and blood starts to leak.
    I found out that IO series offers 100% healthier gums after 1 weeks of use.

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  Před rokem +2

      The Pro 3000 shouldn't really be leaving plaque behind when used correctly. Do you use the correct brushing technique with your electric brush? Do you regularly replace the heads?

    • @Knobber
      @Knobber Před rokem +1

      @@ElectricTeeth Yes I use the technique you mentioned in the video "How to use An electric toothbrush" - At 1:01 you ask 45 degrees hold at teeth and let the tootbrush do the job. With this 45 degrees hold sometimes I feel that the toothbrush not reach efficiently the gumline on incisors. And sometimes I feel that the spinning movement of the electic toothbrush spin the plaque onto the gumline. Feels like sweeping the leaves on the road and make a heap of it on the side of the road.
      I use Charcoal toothpaste weekly to get rid of the accumulated tartar.
      Maybe my technique is not the best, that Is why I'm thinking on switch to IO series 6 to get more feedback.

    • @Knobber
      @Knobber Před rokem +1

    About the replaceable battery. I have Triumph brush from 2010? and have replaced the battery 3 times. While it was possible to change the battery, now I think I should have just bought a new one every 3 years. Now it finally died (motor is jammed) and I ordered IO6. But, I probably should have replaced the brush 5 years ago. When I compared my brush to my wife's much much newer model there was night and a day difference on the speed. I had just used for last 5 years a brush that was under powered.

      Subtle differences and hard to say 1 is the 'better' model. If I had to pick, I would probably go with the iO6.
      Genius X is better value as the heads are about half the cost of those for the iO6.
      The X is grippier but harder to keep clean.
      The iO6 is quieter, has a softer brushing experience, has a modern design, advanced pressure sensor and the screen is a nice touch, if overkill.
      They both ultimately clean the teeth comparably.

      There are a few differences. But, no, I don't think going for the iO9 is worth it for most people.
      The main differences are the iO9 comes with travel case that allows the toothbrush to be charged inside of (using a separate power adapter). It has extra cleaning modes. It has a magnetic charging stand to recharge the brush in just 3 hours. And the real-time tracking monitors 16 rather than 6 zones of the mouth.

    Have been using Oral B standard electric toothbrush for many years. Upgraded to the io 6. Nice toothbrush and a definite upgrade from standard electric. However .... Unable to get brush and app to pair. Held them right next to each other and tried FOUR times. No Pairing. Nowhere in instructions, on website, or in this review is an explanation of what EXACTLY the difference is between the five different cleaning modes. I just use daily clean, seems effective enough. Impossible to hold 'green' pressure while brushing teeth. Seems to alternate between blue and green mostly. You kinda have to press harder than usual to get the red to show up, so easy enough to stay with blue/green.
    In short - Nice toothbrush - app is useless - instructions are lacking in information.

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Thanks for sharing your experience.
      Pairing should be relatively straightforward, but the vast array of different phones can result in issues/incompatibilities. Oral-B might be able to assist further if you contact them. If I've had pairing issues in the past I've turned the phone off and on again, and placed the toothbrush on the charger and then take it off at the start of the pairing process.
      This article has you covered on the cleaning modes: www.electricteeth.com/oral-b-cleaning-modes-explained/
      Short story is daily clean is ideal for everyday use and no one mode is going to provide any magically better results.

      Not for everybody.
      Whilst it is not as as black and white as this, the same principle of saving money on a car applies to a toothbrush too.
      More expensive brushes rarely actually clean that much better.
