- I'm Fly Fishing the WHITE RIVER in Arkansas for MONSTER TROUT in this video! It's caddis season and the trout are hangry, it's going to be a great time! Meet my buddy for a few days and we had an absolute blast. We've had a bunch of rain and the lakes are all super high, which meant the flows were all over the place. But we had a several hours each morning with 1-2 units of generation which was great water for nymphing from the boat. Between noon and 2pm the COE would bump the flows up and we'd finish the day high water nymphing or throwing streamers. Everything produced. This is part 1 of 2 parts, part 2 (will be up soon) was equally great but with more dry fly action. Be sure to check it out...

Thx!
lots of motors running on that river! but you had fun!
Definitely are, miss the days when we had more low water...lots of high water years here lately! Always a good time!
Two parts, sign me up! Definitely would love to get out here and chase those 30" plus fish. Such a great system and clearly you had a blast. Nice work and thanks for sharing!
Part 2 will be out at 4. We've had some good times on the White...only seen one of those 30's and it wasn't interested in us...but it's cool to know that are around. Plenty of Cutts, Bows and Browns to keep you busy!
@@LooknFishy Very cool man. Looking forward to watching it. I will be dropping one as well around the same time.
@@tightliningmd Sweet, I'l check it out!
Nice video. 👍 I've been enjoying your videos. I watched your San Juan one yesterday.
Thanks man, definitely having a good time with it. Part 2 will be out soon...plus a few others in the works right now!
You went to the white river and bobber fished ? You caught some nice fish but I would have thought streamers for tarpon sized browns 😂 jk I would love to make it down there some day.
Haha, we threw everything! Gotta have the right water for streamers. Fortunate to live in AR, so we go pretty often...just don't make videos from every trip! Caddis season is getting epic!
Fly fishermen don't use bobbers........we use Strike Indicators!!
Nice trip! What weight of rod do you like from the boat on the white for nymph fishing? What size of tapered leader?
Definitely a good time. I bring 10ft 4wt, 9ft 5wt and 9.5ft 6wt along with streamer rods to fish the changing flows. You could start in min where the 4wt is great but end up in 5 units heavy nymphing or throwing streamers. Leaders change with flow also but typically start 11.5ft to 4x with my dropper at 5x. I explain my gen nymph rig ( what I fish on my 4wt in the graphite v glass video...at the end)
@@LooknFishy Thanks man!!
Gonna be doin' it In early August. Any recommendations ?
Hoppers season for sure. And we should have the right flows for it.
Good day of fishing!!!
Was for sure!
Hey Drew! Can a guy run a prop driven boat on the White? I have a 17ft. G3 and would love to make a trip over there. Thanks.
Absolutely, I guess 90% of the boats and all the rentals are props. Anything over 2 units and you're going to have a ton of water...minimum flow being the only issue. But you can always fish down river before it falls out.
@@LooknFishy Cool deal. It seems all the vids I watch are always jet drive. I need to start putting a trip together. Thanks
I live up here in southwest missouri , I've been wanting to try that river out , looks fishy ! Ha! Ha!
One of the best tailwaters in the US!
Cotter Bridge
Iconic! Always a good time on the home water!
Are there good places to wade fish there?
For sure under minimum flow, but not when the generate...and its been a high water year. A boat gives you more options.
wildcat shoal?
We were all over but never made it down that far!
What kind of boat is that?
Hog Island!
What’s the point of using a fly rod, with a bobber?
Monster Trout? Where?
