    ABOUT TODAYS VIDEO: Dog Dementia Treatments.
    Here's three powerful ways to boost your dogs cognitive abilities, clear the fog and get your dog back on form quickly.
    NUMBER 1 Is Exercise.
    Maybe your dog is more reluctant to take walks than they used to or gets out of bed a bit slow and stiff. Exercise is crucial to keeping your dogs joints moving and stimulating their senses.
    Exercise increases the production of serotonin and dopamine in the brain, making your dog feel happy, calm and balanced while lowering stress throughout the body.
    It's really important to get your dog out of the house daily, exercised according to their ability and they'll feel better for it once home again.
    NUMBER 2 Is To Feed Your Dog Brain Stimulating Supplements.
    Coconut oil is one of the very best super-food medicines you can give to your dog. The MCT's or medium-chain triglycerides derived from coconut oil help improve brain function in senior dogs.
    Coconut oil combined with an Omega 3 supplement such as hemp seed oil increases the cognitive abilities of older dogs and helps to slow the aging process and boost your dogs brain function to be sharper, more aware with greater perception, reasoning and judgment.
    Serve a 1 teaspoon for every 10-15lbs of body weight daily - simply add to your dog's food and reduce the feeding size a little to compensate the extra calories.
    CBD oil is another excellent choice for the senior dog suffering the first signs of dementia. CBD protects the nervous system and slows neurodegenerative disease.
    Best CBD product Link above.
    NUMBER 3 Is Diet.
    It's vital need to feed your dog better nutrition in the senior years to increase cognitive abilities and head off dementia.
    The very first thing you can do to really help your dog is balance their gut flora levels for healthier digestion.
    The bacteria that live in your dogs gut form 80% of their immune system and it's the immune system that does the job of protecting your dogs body to disease and cognitive dysfunction.
    Kibble is that it's high in starches that feed bad bacteria and if your senior dogs been on kibble for a long time, their gut health will be in poor health. This leads to inflammatory health problems and a loss in perception, reasoning and judgment. Your dogs simply not getting enough brain food!
    As diet is responsible for 9 out of 10 health issues in dogs there are simple things you can do to help this underlying cause of dementia.
    I created the Healthier Kibble Diet to help the loss of cognition, that shows up much earlier than it should from the long term feeding of kibble.

    Dan, I’m so sorry about your beautiful, sweet little Angel. I have a 15 year old Yorki-poo. He’s the sweetest little guy I’ve ever had. He has the same symptoms as yours has. I’m wondering if she was in any pain. My little guy isn’t in pain, eats and drinks normally. My vet is very casual about it and bluntly told us he probably has a brain tumor. It breaks my heart to see this, but we know he’s still in there, just not all the time. My vet prescribed Trazadone, and the dose he prescribed made him a zombie, which is not a good quality of life. We cut the dose in half and it seems to help. What medication did your vet prescribe? As with your dog, this seemed to happen overnight and there’s nothing we can do to reverse it. It’s incredibly sad to watch. We’re struggling with the hardest decision ever, and hope he’ll let us know when it’s time. Sometimes he’s there and sometimes he’s not. There’s still a light in his eyes, interaction with us, eating and drinking fine. How fast did your dog progress to the point of putting her down, if you had to do that yet?
    Thank you for your video, it let me know I’m not the only one going through this

      @DanScott1  Před 2 lety

      I'd use MCT oil (rerived from coconut oil) for a senior dog as it has good brain food properties: Organic MCT oil: amzn.to/3MDXeMq
      Start very small at 1/4tsp med. dog and go slow, working up to 1/2tsp med. dog once daily, otherwise you'll get diarrhea, I know becuase I took too much too soon myself. Works great, just ease in with less is more approach.

    • @DanScott1
      @DanScott1  Před 2 lety +2

      It's amazing what can be done but I don't know your dogs history, so can't say definitively.
      Use MCT oil, instead of coconut oil, better idea here: amzn.to/3Es3zqk
      The diet needs to a raw food diet only with zero sugars and low wholefood carbs only. And with LOTS of antioxidants, green vibrance helps here: amzn.to/3cOgzLu
      It has beta glucans, probiotics, enzymes and a whole host of much needed antioxidants.
      The CBD oil your using needs to be top quality and given 3x daily morning, noon and night.?
      Absolutely get some mushroom complex, again much needed: amzn.to/3y2U4KA
      Now if a raw food diet sounds complicated, there's my ebook or there's my One to One dog health consultaation and support email program where I can personally help you do the best for your dog:
      healthydogforlife.com/real-food-for-dogs-book-and-video-program-by-dan-scott/

      Oh and NO vaccines, vet drugs, flea&tick or de-wormer poisons etc NONE. Must have zero additives, so no kibbles either.

    • @DanScott1

      Yes, it does that if giving too much too soon. Go small and slow to start and build up. If your dog has yeast or any itchy skin issues, don't use coconut oil as latest research on Lauric acid say's it's inflammatory. MCT oil is excellent though with the advantages but not the negatives. My dog is pretty far gone in her stage of dementia. I’ve tried many things but the one thing that we are struggling the most is sleep, what can I give her for that, she’s almost 17 and it started last year. I just started her on senilife I read about it and I’m hoping it helps her but I’ve tried vet prescribed medications and melatonin and cbd for sleep and they all don’t work 100% . I don’t know what I can add with the selilife supplement. 😢

      @@trinc9015 Would you consider changing things up a little with the diet and doing this:
      If you feed kibble, the best thing to do first is remove 50% of the kibble from the bowl and replace with raw eggs (preferably organic), canned sardines (in plain water with skin & bone intact: 12 Pack Sardines - amzn.to/3vaXrj6), some part cooked and blended veggies like broccoli, kale, green beans, spinach, brussel sprouts, bok choy etc and some meat proteins such as chicken meat, even better.
      If not liking to prepare vegetables then these freeze dried greens are antioxidant packed to help protect cells from free radical damage, cellular repair, support immunity, joints, skin issues, heart and eye health: Core Immune CARE Greens: shrsl.com/3uv18
      Now your dogs getting live enzymes, probiotics, Omega 3 oils, the highest quality proteins and nutritional assimilation from eggs (100%), and antioxidants, minerals and vitamins from vegetables.
      Always add a quality probiotic to improve digestion and gut health: (skin issues/yeast/itchy dogs) use this one: amzn.to/3yoURqU and for all other dogs use this one: shrsl.com/3uv7l
      If you want an excellent, VERY low carbohydrate kibble at just 5%, (high carbohydrates cause chronic inflammation, with itchy skin, yeast, poor gut health, ear infection, UTI's and hot spots, and nearly all kibbles are 40+% carbs!).
      Ketona has high protein at 47% (dogs thrive on proteins), correct fats at 15% and natural additives, so have a look at Ketona Kibble: healthydogforlife.com/KetonaKibble. I recommend still adding the fresh foods even with the best kibble.
      By introducing fresh foods, really lowering carbs use, introducing greens, omega 3's, proteins and a better more suitable kibble, your dog will respond with healing and improved health over the next 12 weeks.
      Some must do's:
      Zero vaxx (auto immune disease issues)
      Very low carbs in diet (cause of inflammation)
      No vet drugs, there's effective natural alternatives.
      Feed a healthier diet with at least 50% fresh food in it.
      NO white foods ie rice, potato, pasta..

      @@DanScott1 I did switch her to a homemade diet formulated by a pet nutritionist and I almost lost her 3 days into it. She was also on the balance it supplement then. I had to put her back on her Nutro kibble brand but I still give her fresh veggies and blueberries. What type of MCT oil do u recommend? Is there a pet one or just regular human one? I am familiar with MCT oil, because the CBD I see has MCT oil as the carrier agent. She is 11 lbs how much cbd would you recommend? I’ve been wanting to start cbd for a year now but it wasn’t urgent and I was nervous since the vets always say bad effects but now I don’t trust anything they say. Thankfully I know my dog so well I’m able to fix anything, but the dementia I can’t and I just want to help her. She just turned 18 Christmas Day , her mom lived tilk 26 and her dad 23. She’s never had 1 health issue except the diagnosis of the kidneys in July, and they have been completely stable. Pancreas levels are slightly elevated but vet said barley and that it would have to be in the thousands to do anything about it and we’re no where near that. I took her to a neurologist last week and they wanted to start prednisone just Incase it was a brain tumor it could shrink it, but I don’t want to do the prednisone, so I’ve been thinking of asking the vet Thursday when we go for an appointment for selegiline. What are your thoughts on all this

      @@DanScott1 also forgot to mention, when the nutritionist did the plan she recommended fish oil, I gave my dog 2 drops to start and she was acting funny after, also we go to the vet every other days for subcutaneous fluids and from just those 2 drops she started bleeding every time for about a month and a half after just trying the fish oil, I never gave it again after that first time. Her ptt is a little high (clotting factor) by just a few points so I know the fish oil thins her bloods, vet told me it doesn’t do that. My son is on it and I know it absolutely does.

      @@Alexandrialyn I did reply you an hour ago with my thoughts and this is a facinating case I'd like to help you
      with concidering the ages of the two parents with such great genetic makeup.
      Please don't go the vet route and start the drugs they recommend selegiline and predisone, both are bad medicine with side effects.
      Would you be interested in the natural route which means diet upgrade and healthy supplements?

    Hello, we have a 12 years old Beagle who is showing dementia symptoms. All other tests are done so it is confirmed that he has it. We want to try coconut oil and cbd oil. Should we mix it with his food or give it directly to him? Which is the best solution?

    • @DanScott1
      @DanScott1  Před měsícem +1

      Use MCT oil, much better: amzn.to/3tLlCnR start at quarter dose and move up from there to acclimatize. CBd oil is good: healthydogforlife.com/CBD Start hald dose and raise to effective dose which could be double stated dose.
      Mix in food or direct.
      And add greens to meals: amzn.to/49w0bKR

      I recommend a health fresh food based diet of quality proteins such as fish, meats, eggs, organs and blended part cooked veg in that case.

    Can a dog get too much omega 3s? Is salmon oil, sardines, and flax seed too much?

    • @DanScott1
      @DanScott1  Před 9 měsíci

      Yes. Your dog wants a total of 12-15% fats in his daily diet. What your giving is fine, just don't make it more than 15% of the daily food total in fats.

      CBD oil is fine: healthydogforlife.com/CBD
      Diet: feed more fresh foods like raw eggs, part cooked and blended veggies and a little sardines.
      If feeding kibble, keep fats low by halving the kibble and replacing with the fresh foods.
      Powdered Slippery Elm: amzn.to/3CbHXx0
      1 tsp to 4 oz of powdered herb in warm water. This will make a thick liquid you can syringe into your dog’s mouth or add to some plain yoghurt and feed in between meals.
      2 tsps for small dogs
      1 tablespoon for medium dog
      2 tablespoons for large dogs
      Milk thistle extract: amzn.to/3mjJlJM (2 drops per 10lb 1-4 times daily)
      And Tons of antioxidants daily: Green Vibrance: amzn.to/3cOgzLu
      Depending on size of dog, go by weight, once dayly in food.

    CBD oil is great for helping the animal relax and mitigate pain but the dementia is still there. There’s been very limited success with improving dementia and Alzheimer’s in humans so the odds of any real sustained improvement in an animal is highly unlikely. Once the animal does not recognize it’s owner it’s pretty advanced and it’s time to face reality. Just my opinion. It’s sad to see.

    • @DanScott1
      @DanScott1  Před 3 lety +1

      Your right Tom, there can be improvement also with CBD which is great news. It would take an improved diet and other supplementation to help improve things further and for longer.
      Caught early on is the key here.
