    From what I can find there have been 6 different versions of this attraction.
    1964 World's Fair
    1967 when moved to Disneyland
    1975 when moved to Disney World
    1981
    1985
    1993 (Current Version)
    There has been some rumors that Disney was going to created a virtual Disney where guests could experience older versions of attractions or extinct attractions. Personally I would enjoy getting to see all the different versions of this.

    • @epaddon
      @epaddon Před 2 lety +1

      There was a minor change in dialogue in 1990 which eliminated a few references to the 80s and gave the son some more lines about Grandma and Grandpa traveling the world (Andrew Duggan had by this point passed away and couldn't re-record any new lines)

      Apparently, the original song is the one that is there now, but they changed it because GE didn't want people thinking that there's "a great big beautiful tomorrow" to buy their products, and so they changed it, to make people think that "now is the time" to buy their products, rather than having so much time to buy them. The song changed back after the contract ended.

    • @epaddon
      @epaddon Před 5 lety +3

      Wrong. "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" was the song at the Far and the 1967-73 Disneyland program was the same as the Fair. When the attraction moved to Florida it was completely overhauled with the new song, which reflected more caution ("Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow's" sentiments were badly out of date in the mid-70s) and a totally new voice cast. The father in this version was Andrew Duggan.

    THIS 80's version is closer to the original 60s version than the current version which has been in place since mid 90s / 2000s version still in use today. The only difference of this 80's version and the original 60s is the voice actors and the obvious song change.
    Though I respect that 'Great Big beautiful tomorrow' is the original song, I've always preferred 'Now Is the time' ! Probably coz it's the first version I heard at the end of the 80's to about 1992. ☺ Great upload by the way! 😉

      its actually because of all the PC people now where they have changed the entire speaking track for this ride to not offend certain people. YES Disney could take the time to change the mouth movement but I would rather see the original ride instead of the Shell of its former self that is now due to PC bullshit.

    • @CarloRufinoSabusap
      @CarloRufinoSabusap Před 6 lety +11

      What are you talking about? The dialogue is nearly the same and some more adult jokes have been added in ("Don't tell your mother"). The dialogue and show had to be updated because1) General Electric is no longer a sponsor of the show and 2) the finale had to be updated, so all the voices had to be updated since the voice actors were no longer around. The ride should reflect, to a degree, the language appropriate to the current times. It’s the carousel of PROGRESS. The theme song was changed back to the original played at the world's fair to think about the future, also because of the end of the GE contract.

    • @Notelu
      @Notelu Před 6 lety +5

    The narrator/father in this version of COP which ran at WDW from 1975-1993 is Andrew Duggan, best known for the TV series "Lancer" and also the movie "In Like Flint". This is also one of the latest points in time for the original Act IV which was redone later in 1981 with new voices for the other characters save Duggan's father and remained part of the show through 1993.

      Exactly. The current version is a creaky 1990s version that overlays the 64 song into a PC infested nostalgia trip with Jean Shepherd's doofus father and has nothing to do with the theme of progress. People have to get past their antipathy to the song change in this version to realize that this version was much truer to the spirit of the original but couched its message in less grandiose terms to fit in with the more cautious and more cynical 1970s where people had a much more jaded view of progress than they did in 1964 (as evidenced by how people stopped caring about spaceflight after the moon landing or didn't think about building big future cities of tomorrow like the original EPCOT design would have been).

      Dave D sorry pal you're wrong there. In terms of script, THIS 80's version is closer to the original than the inferior 90s / 2000s version still in use today. The only difference ofvthe 80's is the voice actors and the song.

      @@SteveCarras No. Rex Allen was the voice in the World's Fair and Disneyland version. When the COP came to Florida in 1975 it was totally redone and this version is the original 1975 version where Andrew Duggan is the voice of the Father. Later in 1981 they redid Act IV and brought in other voices for the supporting players with Duggan redoing his new lines (Acts 1-3 stayed unchanged) and that version was the one that remained in place with only some minor tweaks until 1993.

      GooglFascists hell it's mostly Hispanic population in the park as it is. We went yesterday at MK and damn .. instead of "most magical" .. try "most populated" on Earth! The ghetto still shows up but the border runners out number them exponentially. Honestly I think most are like Brazilian so that falls into like Portuguese but I've had pleasant conversations with most of them. Dude I met from the Bronx was cool too but the local natives of African decent were pretty much assholes. Not to take away from the local white douche bags as well that express theirselves with tasteless body art. Yes, I spoke my mind. Get over it.
