i have to say: blade is like the most darkest rider ever, also that part of kenzaki live forever, in the novel he experiences every war 300 years after the series as a war photographer, the dark part is that he want to kill himself because of the things he have seen, dude kenzaki's ending is tragic.
I cried as well watching the final episode of Blade... it's so impactful to me. Another rider that I'm so hyped about to feature or returning in any movies or series apart from Tsukasa Kadoya.
He became more cold and badass in Kamen Rider Decade especially since he can easily access his final form, King Form, without transforming into his base form first. He literally demolishes Tsukasa upon meeting him and I bet that was the Joker version of Kenzaki from the non-canon light novel of Kamen Rider Blade.
I was in Japan the year Kamen Rider Blade was airing. It was the first time I got to experience a Kamen Rider show in its originality, I had knowledge of Kamen Rider already but only through what I was able to find on the Internet at the time. I was already a fan, yet when I saw the battle and the "Zero Blade Brave" intro began to play I asked myself: "Am I watching what I think I am watching"!?!?!? I almost cried manly tears when I saw the title itself (same experience when I saw Dekaranger for the first time that same day). I'm glad you did this review Marcosatsu. It was a nice stroll down memory lane.
What happened to Kenzaki in the end definitely reminds you of Kota in Gaim. He uses the power to the point he no longer becomes human. But the key point in Blade is both jokers had their humanity intact, it was just a battle for survival. In Gaim it was a battle of ideology, a literal war that could have been easily dismissed.
to me, what set blade's ending apart, is because, the implications are palpable, no matter who it is, when you watch the series, ang get that ending, you understand why his sacrifice was so hard to make, the ending delivers on the fact that his future will be bleak, and what he did, will end badly. and yet, that was the ending he chose.
The final episode of kamen rider blade to me is the most beautiful ending ever because unlike hero who live/die/last one standing we got a hero who sacrificed his humanity for humanity it's like a darker version of a happy ending just simply a pure ending right there
Honestly when I went back and watched the entirety of Blade, the latter half and ending was amazing. Great video for this awesome series, I enjoy how you pace your thoughts throughout, although I also think it could've been done a bit more. Regardless, thanks for looking into the history is another amazing series and amazing ending.
We're here at the end of the Heisei era. I watched this whole video, and I have to say, although I dislike the suit, Zi-O, thank you for sealing Blade and Chalice's powers so they can live as normal human again.
Chalice has a nice trivia hidden in his name: sure, the heart is in the shape of a cup, but Cup, Sword, Gold and Clubs are the seed of neapolitan card, and it preludes to the substantial difference between him and the other 3 riders
Here's a trivia for you: Cup of Ace. Hajime rider form is a sign of compassion and love. Should that cup of Ace reverse, it means you repress your emotion against the outside world. Gee why is this sound so familiar.
I'm starting to wish Garren and Leangle got actual King forms on screen, and that Chalice and Leangle got actual Jack forms too. (Chalice's Wild form counts as a King form, right?)
I also almost cried at the end of this series. The first time I watched it I was stunned at the ending. In my opinion I don't know if there ever will be another KR series that will have this powerful of an ending . There are other KR series that had a similar effect on me ( KR OOO the last episode and KR W the episode before the last) but didn't pull that trigger like blade did. I want to add a note that blade also did something that I don't think another KR series has done, in that the final form actually has an effect on the rider. I really like that Blade King Form (one of my favorite final forms) has a downside to it. It may be an imperfect series, but definitely a top KR series in many regards. Now I need to watch the history of KR Ryuki, like blade one of my favorite KR series.
Blade was a good season. My biggest issue is with how Kazuma becomes in some of the follow up material: in a Blade Novel, he has become more cynical, forgetting that he sacrificed his humanity for his friend to have a normal life. He even became more bitter in the Super Sentai crossover with Ex-Aid.
Kamen Rider Blade never caught me like other seasons and it was the first time I felt my interest waiver in a season (even with how much I didn't like Agito I still wanted to see the stories of the G3 unit and Gils enough that I never felt like just moving on to the next season). The beginning was not great and the lack of a central villian plus the multiple plots that just died suddenly didn't help and while I was interested in some of the character stuff it just felt like we were stalling for time or going in circles a lot. But that ending... it is one of the most heartbreaking endings in anything and it is why I will always recommend this series to others. It has its issues and I may not want to go back and watch it any time soon, but the journey is worth it.
the real ending is in Kamen rider zi-o. How both Hajime and Kenzaki turn back into normal human and the battle royal ended. P/s: amane -chan is there too
Anyone else notice the connection between the Rider's names and their card suit representation? Blade comes from the spade suit representing swords/pikes and medieval armies. Chalice comes from the heart suit representing the cups and chalices of royalty. A Leangle comes from the club suit represents the clubs peasants used and a Leangle is a type of Aboriginal club. The only one I can't make sense of is Garren, the diamond suit is meant to represent coins and riches but I can't find what Garren means.
Garren is a corruption of Galleon, which was a type of cargo ship with guns mounted on it, thus giving him a loose connection to both what his suit (as in, suit of cards) means and also why he's a gunslinger (one because cargo ships carried lots of stuff including coins and riches, and the other because Galleons had canons) Though, I do want to admit that this might be a stretch

I love the music you played during the summary of Blade's ending. Even if your description didn’t do the finale justice, I'd say the music does. However, this could just be my adoration for Breath of the Wild's soundtrack talking (typing?).
I don't know if I wrote this before, but I'm actually ok with Blade's suit design.The curved beetle horn actually fits very well with the flat spade symbol on Blade's chest.
Kamen Rider Chalice is my favorite rider here, because of the overall backstory and his rider suit which is an imitation of an Ace undead and,the suits design accomodating the poker suit of hearts and red is also my favorite and symbolic color. Also because amongst the main riders he is the only undead there.
I just can't help but love blade even with it's flaws, admittedly the story loses its footing for a bit but when it finds its excellent. I like all the main characters and can't say any of them truly annoyed me but yeah amane is the worst sometimes, I couldn't believe it when kotaro tried to warn them that hajime might be dangerous and she decided to blindly disown the uncle that had been there for her and her mom her whole life for the man renting the basement she had known for less than a year

I watched Faiz prior to watching Blade. And half the reason why I watched Blade was so that I could watch this video and not have to worry about TV spoilers (I'll watch Missing Ace later). But, anyways. While watching Faiz, I noticed Takumi was kinda similar to Shinji from Ryuki. Except Takumi does open up a bit more and becomes less annoying as the season goes on. Then, watching Blade. I noticed that Kenzaki was also kind of similar to Takumi and Shinji. But, he more quickly starts making friends and having a more positive attitude. Iow, I view Kenzaki's character as an evolution of sorts from Takumi (and thus Shinji as well).

Blade holds a special place with me, it was actually the first Kamen Rider show I watched. I watched this as a kid on DVD when they were being released, as well as played with the toys.
I feel like Queen's Princes of the Universe would fit this season of kamen rider. "From the dawn of time we came, moving silently through the centuries. Living many secret lives, struggling to reach the time of The Gathering, where the few who remain will battle to the last for The Prize. For in the end There Can Be Only One."
I enjoyed Blade. Kenzaki felt like a genuine hero, especially after the ending. I liked the other Riders too (although Mutsuki was hit or miss with me at times). I love the Rider suits and some of the Undead ones. The ending helped seal the deal for me. I enjoyed the show up to that point (particularly the end game) but the ending left it on such a great note. For me an ending can really effect how I look back on shows, because it's my last impression and last thought on that show. Which is why I like Blade but not Ryuki, or why I have mixed feelings about Evangelion (to use a none Rider example). All in all, I would recommend Blade to others. Is it perfect? No. But does it have stuff worth watching it for? Definitely. It is a top 5 season for me, no doubt.
When I watch the final episode, I had a lot of questions. What happen to Kenzaki after the ending? What will become of Kenzaki's Joker form? Will he and Hajime be able to fought with each other I've been watching the final episode alot and it has full of mysteries
I like how in Taisen GP, all of the Blade rider actors came back for the movie, so its literally a Kamen Rider Blade reunion. Though it's just annoying that "Tachibana-sah" is the only actor we see on screen, while the other 3 actors are only doing voice roles. I didnt know that until after I read the KR wiki. I seriously didn't expect a meme heavy show like Blade to have such a sad and tragic ending. Believe it or not, this ending seriously almost made me cry. No other Toku show had ever some close to making me almost cry, not even when characters in Sentai die. Well first there was technically Kamen Rider The Next, but we no longer talk about that movie. This show, seriously, almost made me cry.
Tachibana comes back out of nowhere at the end of the series after the implication that he died right? Wrong! The Tachibana at the end is a Trial Undead in a similar fashion to Hirose's father!

the best part is all the foreshadowing, first we got the first arc with tachibana scared of that happening to him, then we get the reveal of hajime as the joker, and the implication, the sad thing is, they always knew that they would be forced to seal him, and yet, they kept going, and that final arc is just the cherry on top.

YES ANOTHER HISTORY OF KAMEN RIDER! God I want to see the ending of Blade now. I never watched the Heisei series besides Den-O and Kiva, and even then I only finished Den O because the episodes were on CZcams once upon a time. Seeing your videos helps me get an idea of the series since finding the time and motivation to watch 50+ episode series is kinda difficult but damn does it make me wanna see the ones you did a history of (except drive I just gotta finish it) Can’t wait for when, or if, you do Kabuto and Hibiki! I know this kind of project takes a hell of a lot of work and time but thank you so much for doing this!
from the base forms of blade,i like Chalice the best, but overall, in an all riders comparisson, i dont think i can pick one as my favorite, but possibly either 555's, hibiki or black maybe even wizard. if we count non main, than thebee, ouja and kaixa are probably on the top. and yeah, i cant really choose a true favorite among those, they all look just too awersome for me to pick "the one".
Finished Blade and Faiz tonight. While Faiz sucked, I didn’t remember much of Blade except for the first trial undead. But I recently rewatched the series, and it’s become one of my favorite rider series of all time. Kenzaki and Hajime’s friendship in the series was so good in the show and the *bench*
Last part is a huge thumbs up. Same sentiments. I dont remember much about the series since I watched when I was young and I cared about was the fight scenes, bad cgi, and the awesome suits. However, the end really stuck to me until now.
I feel bad for mostly remembering Blade for its incredible ending and MEMES around it... But boi, did it give me lots and lots of laughs. The memes are really well spread in Japan and China, even still popular today. Oh, and the opening, both of them, it just clicks with me I guess. Tho I am guessing what Round Zero clicks with me is also what Next Level clicks with me. It is that weird quirkness how fitting they were both rythm wise and lyric wise to the show. But you do have a different opinion on Next Level so who knows.

It can’t get much better than this!!! Scratch that. You could add the concepts of yin and yang to the fact that the Undead can’t die. But otherwise, I just absolutely love this show. And it’s good timing too for this video because I’m watching this on October 23rd and my birthday is literally tomorrow. Let this season stand on top for all time!!!
I'm quite disappointed about how kamen rider series is not popular in the west.Sure it's obviously for kids but the dark theme and complex story is what make this series special.Just look at KR Blade,heck I wonder what would that be if Kamen Rider got it's own netflix show.
Is this face of happiness? you can blame Saban for that the 1995 show Masked Rider was basically a hugely fucked up miscarriage of Kamen Rider Black RX which pissed off Ishinamori so much that he himself forbade Saban from ever touching Kamen Rider again which is kind of a shame considering how serious certain seasons of power rangers got (light speed rescue and time force come to mind) I think they might've been able to pull off certain Heisei era Riders but at the same time I'm kind of happy because I wouldn't trust them not to screw it up

Even though I saw the ending of this season here, I still consider about maybe seeing it in the future, since that ending is pretty good. Plus, I like to build in Lego, and some of these Undead have some sick designs that I would like to try and recreate myself.

Though I have not seen the series but saw it's movie, the legend of Blade inspired me to write my own adaptation of this Kamen Rider.

I watched Faiz prior to watching Blade. And half the reason why I watched Blade was so that I could watch this video and not have to worry about TV spoilers (I'll watch Missing Ace later).
But, anyways.
While watching Faiz, I noticed Takumi was kinda similar to Shinji from Ryuki. Except Takumi does open up a bit more and becomes less annoying as the season goes on. Then, watching Blade. I noticed that Kenzaki was also kind of similar to Takumi and Shinji. But, he more quickly starts making friends and having a more positive attitude.
Iow, I view Kenzaki's character as an evolution of sorts from Takumi (and thus Shinji as well).

I enjoyed Blade. Kenzaki felt like a genuine hero, especially after the ending. I liked the other Riders too (although Mutsuki was hit or miss with me at times).
I love the Rider suits and some of the Undead ones. The ending helped seal the deal for me. I enjoyed the show up to that point (particularly the end game) but the ending left it on such a great note.
For me an ending can really effect how I look back on shows, because it's my last impression and last thought on that show. Which is why I like Blade but not Ryuki, or why I have mixed feelings about Evangelion (to use a none Rider example).
All in all, I would recommend Blade to others. Is it perfect? No. But does it have stuff worth watching it for? Definitely. It is a top 5 season for me, no doubt.
no rider series is perfect, no matter which series you look into, you will find heavy flaws that will make that series a hard no to ALOT of people.

I like how in Taisen GP, all of the Blade rider actors came back for the movie, so its literally a Kamen Rider Blade reunion. Though it's just annoying that "Tachibana-sah" is the only actor we see on screen, while the other 3 actors are only doing voice roles. I didnt know that until after I read the KR wiki. I seriously didn't expect a meme heavy show like Blade to have such a sad and tragic ending. Believe it or not, this ending seriously almost made me cry. No other Toku show had ever some close to making me almost cry, not even when characters in Sentai die. Well first there was technically Kamen Rider The Next, but we no longer talk about that movie. This show, seriously, almost made me cry.

Tachibana comes back out of nowhere at the end of the series after the implication that he died right? Wrong! The Tachibana at the end is a Trial Undead in a similar fashion to Hirose's father!

The ending is what made me love blade
the best part is all the foreshadowing, first we got the first arc with tachibana scared of that happening to him, then we get the reveal of hajime as the joker, and the implication, the sad thing is, they always knew that they would be forced to seal him, and yet, they kept going, and that final arc is just the cherry on top.

God I want to see the ending of Blade now. I never watched the Heisei series besides Den-O and Kiva, and even then I only finished Den O because the episodes were on CZcams once upon a time.
Seeing your videos helps me get an idea of the series since finding the time and motivation to watch 50+ episode series is kinda difficult but damn does it make me wanna see the ones you did a history of (except drive I just gotta finish it)

Finished Blade and Faiz tonight. While Faiz sucked, I didn’t remember much of Blade except for the first trial undead. But I recently rewatched the series, and it’s become one of my favorite rider series of all time.

Last part is a huge thumbs up. Same sentiments. I dont remember much about the series since I watched when I was young and I cared about was the fight scenes, bad cgi, and the awesome suits. However, the end really stuck to me until now.

Yay!!!!! (And I can’t spam it enough times to get it to go over a million !’s.) Blade!!!!! It’s one of my top 5 Kamen Rider seasons and I just love the concept of using playing cards. It can’t get much better than this!!! Scratch that. You could add the concepts of yin and yang to the fact that the Undead can’t die. But otherwise, I just absolutely love this show. And it’s good timing too for this video because I’m watching this on October 23rd and my birthday is literally tomorrow. Let this season stand on top for all time!!!
I'm quite disappointed about how kamen rider series is not popular in the west.Sure it's obviously for kids but the dark theme and complex story is what make this series special.Just look at KR Blade,heck I wonder what would that be if Kamen Rider got it's own netflix show.
Is this face of happiness? you can blame Saban for that the 1995 show Masked Rider was basically a hugely fucked up miscarriage of Kamen Rider Black RX which pissed off Ishinamori so much that he himself forbade Saban from ever touching Kamen Rider again which is kind of a shame considering how serious certain seasons of power rangers got (light speed rescue and time force come to mind) I think they might've been able to pull off certain Heisei era Riders but at the same time I'm kind of happy because I wouldn't trust them not to screw it up

Even though I saw the ending of this season here, I still consider about maybe seeing it in the future, since that ending is pretty good. Plus, I like to build in Lego, and some of these Undead have some sick designs that I would like to try and recreate myself.
