    Mark Goddard looks VERY good for 80. Marta Kristen is STILL beautiful. They both seem happy with their careers although Marta left Hollywood to become a real estate agent and was successful shortly after Lost In Space ended. Marta and Johnathan Harris were the ONLY actors in ALL the original series episodes! They've ALL left quite a legacy.

      @@markbest5127 yes, major west made sure that the ship was running, and John and west made a convincing team when the ship was in turmoil or when any kind of turmoil was happening on the many planets they were
      visiting even to take a break. always breathable air, but they had robot to make sure. It was always the case that major west was ready to rip smith apart, esp when west for forcing smith to order the robot to return to his cage.I dont think they ever got long but smith was never intentially trying to harm. he just looked to opportunities to get home to earth, and took misguided advice from many aliens. in fact, wasnit it the case that smith was a castaway on the ship. he was n,ot in hibernation when the ship launched. minutes later he takes the elevator to main deck and notices the malfunctioning maureen capsule. he shoots the lock on wests capsule, West can barely walk but manages to release maureen. i liked the pilot and thought theywere going to go through a lot together, esp since they were conssidered lost in space. the pilot should be on yt somewhere.

      YOU SHOULD CHECK OUT THE MOVIE TERMINAL ISLAND WHICH WAS DONE BACK IN 1973. MARTA IS LOOKING SO SMOKING HOT AND LIVING ON AN ISLAND THAT IS RESERVED FOR MURDERERS AND THE WOMEN OF THE ISLAND ARE THE PROPERTY OF THE MEN TO DO WHATEVER THEY WANT TO THEM SEXUALLY OR OTHERWISE. THE ONLY THING I DID NOT LIKE ABOUT THE MOVIE WAS THAT MARTA GETS KILLED TOWARDS THE END OF THE MOVIE BUT ITS A GOOD MOVIE AND I THINK SHE WAS LOOKING HOTTER IN THAT MOVIE THAN SHE DID IN LOST IN SPACE. ALSO A VERY YOUNG TOM SELLECK IS ALSO IN THE MOVIE. HE PLAYS THE PART OF A DOCTOR WHO WAS WRONGLY CONVICTED AND SENT TO TERMINAL ISLAND.

    The Jupiter 2 was the spaceship of my dreams, it had many facets that you could think of, The Space Pod, The Chariot, The Robot...
    I'm saddened that the show hadn't ventured further than 3 years.
    To the original members of the cast, I salute you.
    May Mr.Guy Williams, Mr.Jonathan Harris, Mr. Dick Tufeld, and Mr. Bob May continue to S.I.P.
    May you ALL know that you are definitely loved, highly respected, greatly appreciated, and very missed . Thank you for being a part of my life.

    I got to meet all the cast for the 30th reunion in1996. Almost at the same time, I met with Mark Goddard privately at the school he was working at in Massachusetts. We were looking to place our son in a special school for children with disability's. Mark remembered me from a Sci-Fi con and we struck up a conversation about LIS. It was brief due to the situation but I wish it was a longer conversation.

Folded it again, put pressure on it, opened it minutes later and got a pattern. looked a lot like the jupiter 2 with launch and landing gear and antennas on both sides on the top. Good God, she is still beautiful. Notice how some people age very well and others do not.
    About the show and for that matter most all of like type shows, the first season is the best and from there they go down hill. Not necessarily down hill for all, but the dynamics changed to more of a childish farce, like the batman series.
    The lack of imaginative writing was lacking so they kept with what people liked the most the team of Smith, Will and robot. Where Harris gave it more of a theatrical type of style to it, rather then the serious mental science type of show like Star Trek. The first time I saw the shows i loved both of them.
    Like Mark, I also thought the Anti-Matter Man was one of the best ones they made and it was in Season 3. That's the one i had remembered for the longest time, especially when Guy was fighting on a beam of fog for his son. That was so intense. Season 1 is the best of the seasons in my opinion, showing how they were starting out was fabulous, the sets and everything just made the show so first class. Had me wanting to see more.
    I related myself most with Will, but first fell in love with Penny, then as i grew Martha was the one i had a crush on. June like Miss Cleaver was the perfect mother i though, beautiful in all ways. And Guy, the number one leading man, he had the looks and chrisma of star written all over him. He proved that with his Zorro series. Even though Smith took the star helm, Guy was the hero of the show, he would come to save the day in the end, from that silly ninie Smiths screw ups.

    as a child, I found myself almost imagining myself as part of the cast. And now I am old enough to play the part of doctor smith in the new series.........One thing that stands out to me is the sound clips that made the show. And two of the best episodes that are my favorite are the ones that Penny was the center of fantasy, 1. My friend mister Nobody and 2. Magic Mirror. they were very creative and adventuress.
    And despite some of our wishes that the show might have remained more serious, Johnathan Harris managed to teach the value of allowing children to be children for as long as possible in order to build a good sense of imagination,: his most valuable quote to Will was : Don't be in such a hurry to grow up, it really isn't worth it"! And it was a scene that was reflective of the fact that both Will and Penny were beginning to leave their childhood and to desire adult things: they were growing up and Johnathan Harris found a way of sharing that with all of us.....Genius!

    I’ve been rewatching the original series on Hulu, and I’m remembering why It liked it when I was young. I noticed that in the first episode Don was written as a doctor, but from the second episode onward he was no longer called a doctor. Judy was said to be postponing her career in musical comedy for at least two centuries, and Maureen learned biochemistry and the New Mexico College of Space Medicine (whatever that is).

    I have met both Mark and Marta on different occasions when they visited Australia. Both were very pleasant and happy to shake hands and sign photos. Mark is a great raconteur and he told a very funny Bob May story. Marta was very gracious and patient, especially with the younger fans. I look forward to the blu ray set being released here.

    • @beaufighter245
      @beaufighter245 Před 6 lety +5

      Yes, the third series did follow some bizarre plots. Jonathan Harris and the robot were a great act and the humour they presented was what made the show.
      I get the impression from Mark's interview that there was contention at the time.
      However, I would say that each character was good but that of Dr Smith, was leagues ahead of Major West. The producers of the show clearly saw the appeal of Dr Smith and the robot and used that as the strongest characters.

    • @starcloud4959
      @starcloud4959 Před 6 lety +3

      Carlos A Cabrera -yes first season was best, but it was dr.smith and robot that made the show even more special and spectacular. If you are asked what pops to mind first up, it is dr.smith and robot.There was way more imagination and endless possibilies with robot and smith.Everyone knows that, or should know that.

      @thetruthhurts6652 Před 4 lety +4

      Carlos A Cabrera yep, I remember even as a young kid that lost in space had become to wacky. I liked the serious episodes better. Anti Matter Man was one of the best.

    • @19580822
      @19580822 Před 4 lety +2

      Carlos A Cabrera I agree 100%. The first season was the best. I think that the silliness of the second and third seasons led to the show's premature demise. The show appealed to a wide age demographic during the first season because it was a family-oriented space-based adventure show, but as the show began to focus more and more on Smith and the robot and their antics, it turned us off. By the third season, my friends and I couldn't stomach it anymore. The silly plot lines, awful alien costumes, focus on Smith etc. It was now a silly, campy sitcom masquerading as a serious sci-fi show. Jonathan Harris said in an interview that he "saved" the show by rewriting his dialogue (with the blessing of Irwin Allen). I respectfully disagree. Harris himself in an interview said that he knew his villainous character wouldn't last long, so he began improvising his dialogue, little by little, to save his character (and his job). As the show focused more and more on Smith and his silliness, the viewership dropped and the show was ultimately cancelled when CBS asked Irwin Allen to cut the budget and he refused.

    I watched Lost in Space so much as a kid in the 1970s that I knew all of the scenes in all of the episodes. Now when the show came out in the 1960s,it was hard to watch it as back in those days every family had one tv for the most part and little kids didn't always get a say on what to watch, but I was able to watch Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, The Time Tunnel and Land of the Giants, all in black and white because we didn't have a color tv back then. Great memories.

As for Marta Kristen, well I was madly in love with her on 'Lost' when I was in grade school, and thought she was the most beautiful woman in the universe, and you know what, she still is! what grace and class, more beautiful than ever and more charming than ever! what do you mean I am still madly in love with her!? Well, lost in space is still so innovative and original and endearing, it had great music8great writers great acting great guest stars, and all this and the gorgeous Marta Judy Robinson Kristen. I think doctor Smith was so devious and fun to watch with his scemes of deception. Glad there was a re-union. To bad Dr. Smith and John Robinson are no longer with us. I caught the show one Sunday afternoon when we had a new Colour TV with the UHF tuner that I had connected our aerial to . A local Station in Buffalo transmitted on Channel 29 and ran Lost In Space at 4:00 pm just once a week as I discovered when the I scanned the Band from 14-85 .
    The picture wasn't that great and it was the B&W Sea-1 since the show had been cancelled just a few years earlier. But the show was interesting and done really well like a Movie quality for props and Location filming . The cliff-hangers made me want to watch the next show to see what happens.
    The 2 episodes I remember were the Return To earth where Will gets taken back to a Town in Vermont , the other was a 2 part The Keeper . As soon as it cycled back to the first show I was hooked because we also had the Space-race where Apollo 11 put Humans on the moon and made this show easier to believe compared to the re-runs of Flash Gordon on WKBW 7 after school on the Commander Tom show.
    At first I related to Will for his age being the youngest among them , but once I hit a couple of years old and watch season 3 in Colour I dumped Will pretty fast for Judy .

We had just installed a "deep fringe" antenna with a rotor on our house, so we never lacked for channels to watch. And Thank You for the nod to The Commander Tom Show that ran on WKBW ch7 after school -- always a must see staple for us kids.
