  • I found a new Nesting Cup with measurements outside and inside the cup. This Nesting Cup is very easy to read because the measurements can easily be seen inside and outside of the cup I'm confident this Nesting Cup will become my new favorite. Honestly, it already is.

    This is the 3rd time I've watched your canteen/bottle comparison video. I learned 2 new things this time. That led me to this video and the new DZO cup. I like this one better as well. For the most part. Putting holes in the top of the cup for the fish mouth spreader are no big deal. Can you use the Pathfinder lid /w the DZO cup? Does the sea to summit collapsible cup nest properly in the DZO ,and pathfinder cups?
    Holes for your canteen lid. Set lid on solid surface. 2x or 4x4 will work. With fine point punch, lightly tap a divet for each hole.
    NOTE: Caution not to dent lid by tapping too hard. Just tap enough to set fine drill bit point.
    Drill hole /w drop of oil. Motor oil will work just fine.
    Increase drill bit to desired hole size/w another drop of oil. C clamp or a clamping device to hold lid firm against hard surface is advisable. NOTE: Do not push hard when drilling. Let drill bit, and high-speed do the work. Be patient.
    Thank you for the videos. Great job. As much as I know I still continue to learn. Take care my friend. God bless you and yours.

      Yes, the Pathfinder lid will fit on the DZO cup. Also, the Stanley Adventure Cup Cook Set lid fits on it as well. The Sea To Summit cup does fit on the bottom, just like it does with the Pathfinder nesting cups.

    I recently purchased one of the DZO 27OZ cup w/lid. Haven't had the opportunity to use it . I too appreciate having the stamped measurement markings from 4OZ-24OZ. I have nested it with: the 38OZ stainless steel Nalgene bottle, G.A.K. bottle stove, 18OZ Ozark Trail cup, an additional DZO lid (for the Ozark Trail cup) and easily fit it all in a Condor water bottle pouch that I also tuck a fish mouth spreader into. Love your channel and reviews.

      The DZO is still my favorite nesting cup. I use it all the time. Being able to measure out my water for Mountain House Meals really has made my life a lot easier. I purchased both DZO cups and nest both top and bottom of a 38oz nelgine water bottle. Part I love the most is they pull out of condor water bottle bag easier than the Stanley pot plus you have to attach the handle. Plus a 38oz nelgine bottle will not nest in the Stanley adventure pot.

    Good Video! Thanks!
    Like you I started out with the Pathfinder Cup, it works! I next bought a solo stove and pot and use both from time to time, mostly for overnighters or when I take someone along.
    Last summer I bought a lixada titanium cup set (500/350ml) with lids and combine them with a toaks alcohol stove. For my day hiking needs that cook kit is just right. Perfect size & weight. This is not a nesting cup, so it doesn't quote fit the theme of your video, but it shows a possible evolution..

      @newageselfreliance  Před 4 lety +1

      I have a Keiths Titanium cook set that is really nice and super lightweight. I really enjoy the Titanium options but a lot of people that watch this channel don't want to spend that kind of money on a pot.

    • @alexandergutfeldt1144
      @alexandergutfeldt1144 Před 4 lety +2

      Wolf Pack Woodcraft I agree, the nesting cups are plenty good enough!
      For a beginner who doesn't know if hiking/camping is for them, they are the way to go. The Toaks' TI canteen set, as an extreme example, makes no sense in the beginner scenario (unless the newcommer is ultra rich)
      My point is, that I learned that the stainless cups at ~750ml are a bit too large (and thus heavy) for what _I_ need and use.
      We all have different needs.
      I find I like to use two cups, one for tea, the other for a snack/noodles/whatever.

    The DZO cup would be perfect for me if it had a bail. I would like one that had the narrower base, as well, that would allow an additional shorter cup to nest and that could utilize the Nalgene Backpacker model similar to the Stanley cup. The Stanley cup would be ideal for me if it had this style handle.

    • @newageselfreliance
      @newageselfreliance  Před 3 lety

      You could drill some holes into the sides of the cup to hang a bail. The issue I have with the narrow bottoms is you can't nest a Nalgene bottle inside of it. What do you use the second cup for?

    • @redoak3809
      @redoak3809 Před 3 lety +1

      @@newageselfreliance I would use the larger cup for a meal such as soup and the smaller cup for coffe or tea. You cannot nest the "standard" nalogene in the Stanley, but the "Backpacker" nalgene nests nicely in the Stanley and since it is narrow at the bottom a GSI cup will nest with the Stanley (or a standard Nalgene). I do like the "standard" Nalgne more than the narrower backpacker one, but I dont' mind it and it is 32 oz. I don't like the Stanley handle, though, as it would have to be removed to nest the water bottle in it. I guess I can just toss a collapsable cup in my kit and use a Pathfinder cup with either of the Nalgenes.
