    Great job! My only question is couldn't you have included all of the holes you made (headphone jack, SD Card slot with a stopper, power slot, etc) into the 3D print design to have them perfect? I am liking the double battery! What version of Android are you running on it?

    • @Electo
      @Electo  Před 6 lety +10

      Theoretically, yes, but no 3D printer is perfect, and since I have a very cheap 3D printer, my prints get more warped and flawed than most prints from nicer 3D printers. And since I use a ruler to measure each component, than I usually get the measurements slightly wrong, so the holes I make in the case are either too large, or too small.
      I am running Android 7.1. Here's the link to the website I got the OS from. rtandroid.embedded.rwth-aachen.de/downloads/raspberry-pi/

    FYI - regarding your issue with using a power switch and the powerboost. I ran into the same issue when I used an old NES case and wanted to reuse the power switch on the front of the console. I ended up wiring the power switch to the battery before the power boost so pushing the power button in allows the battery to connect to the power boost. Button out, kills connection.

    this is a very impressive project I did indeed like it although I am a stickler for perfection and I think the wire management in side could be done nicer as well as the whole you cut out in the back for the Raspberry Pi MicroSD slot looks a little janky and then the only other thing is your screen is glued in slightly crooked if those things were addressed it would be absolutely perfect but none the less very nice job my friend

    Is it possible to make something smaller (phone) from raspberry pi? Just without calls.

    • @Electo
      @Electo  Před 6 lety +31

      I've actually been thinking about this ever since I made my tablet, and I think that it's possible. It might be a bit tricky to get the smaller screen configured with android (If that's the os you were thinking of), but I think it can be done. I would love to make a raspberry pi android "phone" sometime in the future.

    • @aspekt5206
      @aspekt5206 Před 6 lety +7

      I think that all you have to do is get smaller components. Everything can be minimised and it can fit in maybe. Or you could just stick to the tablet and claim it is the Samsung Galaxy 100 and say they rejected the infinity display and stuck to that screen and just made it fatter.
      Anyways thanks for replying. You gained yourself a loyal subscriber. Notifications on too. ;)

    • @aspekt5206
      @aspekt5206 Před 6 lety +1

      Sketch It D.I.Y Seeing as it is using Raspberry Pi, I assumed that it couldn't call. But I might be wrong. I'm not too sure.

    • @aspekt5206
      @aspekt5206 Před 6 lety +1

      Sketch It D.I.Y That's the point of the challenge. Minimising everything and getting it to become a smaller phone. That would be quite amazing. Imagine a Samsung galaxy s8 with Raspberry Pi. That would be mental.

    It looks so messy. No wonder the first screen broke. Next time fill the empty space with a custom printed circuit board to connect up ports and the power supply. It will look a lot nicer and won't need so many wires that could be a potential eyesore when building it or making repairs. I also think this would be better off as some kind of computer hybrid; in my eyes it seems a bit too thick to be a tablet. That's just my opinion though :). I hope you make an updated version of this. (Maybe with a magnetic removable keyboard?)
    Best wishes on your future endeavours!
