To me it's very clearly Kiryu's song about Haruka who's in coma for most of Y6. Then at the end he says "maybe I should sleep too" because he's been living for Haruka. He doesn't really have anyone in his life aside from her and the orphans, and losing Haruka would make Kiryu's life meaningless.

I know i’m years late, but I used to work as a hostess in Japan (nothing as fancy as cabaret clubs, just as very shady snack bar) and Kamurocho Love Story is a perfect recreation of some of the most cliche 70s/80s “I’m a macho dude in a hostess bar” songs out there. We had customers who were pretty obviously yaks and they loved those kind of songs. (also anything with “man”in the title, never met anyone as cool as Kiryu but it felt like they watched a bunch of movies and fell for their own hype) There was one called Izakaya that I ended up having to learn, so many dudes requested it...
Also a lot of the music videos are straight up parodies of 80s/90s j-pop acts. Judgement straight up cribs from an old idol group called Otokogumi and their song “TIME ZONE,” chain link fence and all.
The only thing missing to make the Ryu ga Gotoku series a 100% accurate karaoke simulator is the pantsless DBZ theme screaming
Kiryu's patriarch was voiced by Tatsuya Watari, who was the proto Kiryu in all those Yakuza films from the late 60's. Thanks for the cool little history lesson though.

1. Heartbreak Mermaid(Chika and Majima)
2. Judgement(Both Kiryu and Nishiki)
3. Tonight(Kiryu singing this song so well)
4. Rouge of Love(Saejima and Majima)
5. 24 hour Cinderella
6. Bakamitai(I liked all of them although I liked Saejima and Akiyama versions the most)
7. Get to the top(especially Majima)

The singer talks about how this person is in a state of REM sleep which is deep sleep does that remind you of a certain someone who is also in a deep state of sleep a coma perhaps. Anywho throughout the story kiryu san keeps thinking about Haruka who is in a coma and always wonder when she will wake up. Later in the last chapter kiryu got "killed" hence the last sentence in the song "maybe i should sleep to"

I don't think the whole song necessarily represents the plot precisely, but yeah there's no doubt that the coma imagery is in reference to Haruka.
I think that "Maybe I should sleep too" is more meant to reflect the singer's suicidal desire if he can't be with his """"sleeping"""" lover.

Well, this list turn my perspective 180 degree that's for sure, especially the first place.
How well 24 hour ciderella fits majima, specifically 0's story, puts it up higher for me.
Its also the song that plays on the pocketwatch
For "Pure love in Kamurcho", the best version is the Aikiyama / Hana duet. Their voices are absolutely gorgeous and match so well ! ^w^

Damn, I never thought there was a theory that dark for Honjitsu wa Diamond. Looking at the lyrics, I assumed it was about Haruka and how she's in a coma.
The songs are written for the games, so it is quite literally kiryu begging her to wake up
when my friend from Japan was playing like a butterfly, she wore those glasses like Kiryu's and damn did she make a good impression of Kiryu

And thinking about the majority of the plot for Yakuza 6.... Honjitsu Wa Diamond is also the perfect analogy for Kiryu talking to Haruka. At least that's what hit me when I started reading the english translation. Just the desperate pleads about "please wake up" and returning to their beautiful home back in Okinawa. When I first booted up Y6, seeing the new Karaoke songs were the first thing I did (in Kamurocho). I genuinely thought the music video was set in Okinawa. At least until I saw Onomichi proper.
Kinda mindblowing with that in mind and all the heaviness the original lyrics represent. Did not expect for the song to be this amazing. It's great, but wow.

Guess that kinda explains why they wanted you to sing Judgement at the start of Yakuza 0. Even if I never knew what the lyrics were initially (were you supposed to?), I just assumed it was simple 80s excess and having a good time with your buddy. I still love the song though, but I have a better appreciation for it now. Nicely done, sir! :D

I think pride from despair is underrated
I just got into the series a while ago. Just finished all the sub-stories in Yakuza 0 for Kazuma and was looking forward to singing Judgement in the next game. Kinda sad to hear it won't be there, but I also look forward as to why it's not there for 'obvious reasons'.
Now I just need to focus on my projects and I'll have a clear conscious to buy Kiwami.
I loved both "Y-ji Road" from 6 and "Shiawase nara ii ya" from Kiwami 2. Both are bittersweet, with "Y-ji Road" talking about two people in love growing apart and realising that idealistic dreams don't live up to reality, and "Shiawase nara ii ya" talking about putting a loved one's happiness before your own and taking heart from that.
for me its similar list to thi but instead of ‘like a butterfly’ with ‘tonight’ and ‘kamurocho love’ with ‘as long as youre happy’

Another theory about like a diamond is similar to the death one, this has spoilers so don’t keep reading unless you don’t care
The theory is about going on a vacation and having a wonderful time with Haruka, but since she fell into a coma Kiryu is begging and pleading to her to please wake up so he can have his daughter back. But when she doesn’t wake up, at least not at first, he decides that maybe it’s not worth living if he can’t be with his daughter. Although later in the story when Haruka recovers the meaning of this theory changes. Since Haruka tries to start a family and Kiryu isn’t unhappy but isn’t thrilled about it either because of the whole crime family thing, he is imploring her to return to her old life with him, but when she won’t, he decides maybe to let it be and he’ll take a nap/die. Which may be a reference to when Kiryu fakes his own death. But there are many holes in those theories, so take it as though will.
Also, Machine Gun Kiss shows up in Yakuza 7.
My favourite version of Pure Love in Kamurocho is the Akiyama and Hana duet.

Hana has the best female voice, kind of sad that she's not included in at least your Kamaroucho Love Song section. She makes Raindrops to. I think MachineGun kiss and Raindrops are tied for my number one.
I havent played yakuza 6 (song is Today is Like a Diamond) but I feel like since I've watched some other videos about Haruka being in a coma. Maybe bes singing about her? Can't really tell, I'm too stuck to hearing it alot and singing along while noticing, yes this song is sad as heck.

Machine Gun Kiss is just the absolute most badass song. Kiryu's and Koichi's absolutely fantastic. If you havent watched it, please watch Koichi's version fully. Promise there's a surprise at the end.
Baka Mitai is a heart breaker, and its easy to sing along with. All about everyone Kiryu has lost and his self resentment. Its damn depressing, and its catchy as all hell.
Like a butterfly. Just really catchy as hell, filled with meaning, and of course, rapping Kiryu.
Honjitsu No Diamond. Aww how cute a song- ah no it seems this was a trap and now I'm depressed.
