this is a folk song so there's meaning behind a lot of other words.
she's singing about birds that landed on a field and thinking whether eat early crop or last and all the reasons for and against, because they are just different :)
But she didn't sing it to the end because in the 2nd half of song it's about love for first and 2nd wife, as stepmother made children run and come to tomb of their dead mother asking how they'd live without her and calling her back home

The Chinese judges are poor judges of good singing. The contestant sang impeccably and beautifully. They should all have turned in the first twenty seconds.
