- E257系の投入により2021年3月で定期運用から引退する、185系特急型車両。
0番台が115両(10両編成8本、5両編成7本)、寒地向け200番台が112両(7両編成16本)の227両が製造されましたが、現在は0番台が94両(10両編成6本、5両編成6本、4両編成1本)、200番台が43両(7両編成3本、6両編成3本、4両編成1本)の137両が残るのみとなっています(6両編成と4両編成は波動用)。
現在定期列車としては特急踊り子号と湘南ライナー等に使用され、東京･池袋-伊豆急下田･修善寺間で運用されています。
東京駅13:30発の特急踊り子17号、東京から伊豆急下田までの6号車モハ184からの車窓です。
途中、品川、川崎、横浜、大船、小田原、湯河原、熱海、網代、伊東、伊豆高原、伊豆熱川、伊豆稲取、河津に停車します。
伊豆急下田行の10両編成は、2,3,6,7,8,9号車がモーター車で、車端部では懐かしいMT54モーターの音を聞くことが出来ます(修善寺行は13,14号車)。
窓ガラスが汚いため(水でこする程度ではダメでした)、走行音メインでお楽しみください。

185系は国鉄・JRの特急型車両ではかっこよくて一番大好きな車両です！モーター音も大好きです！
185系は昭和、平成、令和と三つの時代をまたいだ特急型車両でしたね。

JR東日本の大宮総合車両センターに
所属する185系0,200番台は老朽化が
深刻化してきているため2014年より
本格的な廃車が始まりました。現在
定期運用は特急踊り子号のみとなり
此方も2021年ダイヤ改正で新型車の
E257系2000,2500番台に変更されて
定期運用は無くなります。185系の
運用終了後のJR東日本管内の特急は
全てJR発足後の車両に統一されます
チャンネル登録しました。
185系動態保存してほしいな。

185系最後の秋
もともとは新特急草津や白根、あかぎなどにたくさん運用されていて、特急踊り子と湘南ライナーに集約されても、運用に対して編成数が多かったことが、長寿になったと思います。
来年春に引退するまで、息災で運用についてほしいです。
撮り鉄にもそのことを留意して、静かに乗客の邪魔にならないように撮影してほしいです。
この国鉄車両が来年3月でなくなるのは寂しい😢
I believe they are retiring the 185 Series because they are getting too old and expensive to operate on the _Odoriko_ and _Home Liner_ services.
185系にダブルデッカーグリーン車、平屋グリーン車を連結したド迫力な、15両編成見たかったです🤣

数えきれない程、185には乗りましたね～。
最初に乗ったのは父親に連れられての、リレー号だった…と聞かされてます。
子供の頃は、0系、485、113、103辺りは未来永劫走ってるもんだと勝手に思ってましたが、気づけば皆なくなって、寂しいものです。185系もたくさんの方に惜しまれての定期引退になるでしょうね。

It's about the time, to finally retire - one of it's last JNR-produced limited express since the end or Showa era, for 40 years of operation of JR East. It's too, pretty sad to be "gone; reduced into atoms" for the next generations to see them at least. Time flies so fast (so as to be old as well), as even to ourselves not to deny the fact to replicate more of its advanced technologies for the later decades to come, but history would become richer and richer than it ever could be (might be correct or wrong).
As what I've mentioned earlier (on ichi pika's content - scrapping the last S.V. Odoriko Model RE-4, in case you've seen it yet. Link on my comment: czcams.com/video/DNJ2Hb8UBto/video.html), there's nothing we can do for the rest of our lives - but to look videos here on CZcams about the given train, and take some looks on the photographs of the past. Unfortunately, we cannot go back into time anymore (since we don't have an actual time machine, so much impossible to make unless an ultra-genius person made it) and yes, the rest is history.
Lastly, I salute with respect and thanks to all the drivers (plus conductors et.al.) of both the past and throughout the present (whoever they are, might be native Japanese or a foreigner - but who knows?), in which they "deserved for the best to come - like the best there is, the best there was and the best that will always be". I might go back to Japan (for another official visit or whatever purpose), maybe in some time after the pandemic (as all of us should be returned to normal living as possible). Nevertheless, this is "old-but-gold" and hence, it appears on games such as Densha De GO! and the likes (including featured movies and TV shows / dramas, etc.). Thank you to all of them so much (of their duties well). As always, Japan is one of the best countries to visit and enjoy its finest hour (when it comes to culture, anime, gaming, music, foodstuffs, etc.), in my humble opinion despite the historical aspects and its "harsh consequences" many decades and centuries ago.
EDIT: *The E257 Series (to be replaced fully) would be 20 years old, so as not too old, but being able to "begin its ripening condition" as time passes. Also, did you know that it shared similarities of the 117 Series from JR West? Strangely enough too, they don't have any retirement plans yet of 117 Series, so who knows what's the next event.*
JR West still manage to operate JNR Era trains unlike of JR East which is part of their plan to retire all JNR Era rolling stocks within 5 years from now including the ones which manufactured on 1987 before JR privatization.
T'as you are right because the series of e257(to be replaced fully would be 20 years old , as note too old right but 🎉
