I believe it was for two games only that Salming, Yzerman, Kocur and Probert all dressed and played together, in late March. That must have been really something to witness.

Borje Salming was my childhood idol growing up. It's absolutely heartbreaking to see that video of him battling ALS. God bless you, Borje. Long live the kIng.

Borje Salming 21# was ever one of the most loyal and heart-strong players ever in NHL hockey. 16 NHL seasons with a team that despite being one of the richest teams in the league was so darn cheap and never gave his team any support. Harold Baller was missed by none Maple Leafs fans. Salming only remained with the franchise for so long because of the love & respect its fans gave him and his teammates. 17 NHL seasons and no cup.
Just like fellow Swede Mats Sundin with 18 NHL seasons and no cup. He was like Salming in that he also remained strongly loyal. His last year in Canucks was only because the Leafs did not want to re-sign him due to rebuilding (and that was a poor one in the following decade).

He's naming young rookies who would "be there in 2 years" but most of them left the Leafs before they reached their prime and he's not even naming Damphousse who was their #1 forward by far, and he too eventually left the team. What a lack of vision!

Was Borje Salming face injury caused also by the light beams/ sparks from the hockey skate blade? Was his eye injured by the pepper spray that they seem to spray from the ceiling as I left the Old maple leaf gardens / Loblaws

You can't blame him for wanting off the team. In this world there are few constants, one of which is that the Leafs are trash. They either lose all season long, or start off great and then fade, just scrape their way into the playoffs, and then are eliminated in the first round, often by dropping four.

Borje Salming is tired of all the loosing and terrible Leafs teams. He decides to leave and sign with Detroit. God what a heathen. Signing with an inferior American team.
