    It's more about the parent's image than the kids. Kids are too young to know what designer is and cost. And, they can look just as good with an outfit from Baby Gap for a fraction of the cost.

      Tiara Brown Well you cane make that judgment for all children because some children are more mature than others. It also depends on the age of the child. For example, I’m not buying my 4 year old Gucci slides like its ridiculous. I have noticed that some children do wear Ray-bans and that’s a rather expensive pair of glasses but that’s different because eyewear is expensive anyway. But at a certain age like 13 I think is the age where you should start introducing you kid to some designer things, not everything in a kids closet needs to be designer because that’s ridiculous. Finally, it really depends on how mature the child is because some children are more civilized than others. Some don’t run around on the playground, some like old school music, some like museums and I feel like those type of children would be better suited for designer pieces because you’ll know that for the most part nothing is going to happen to the stuff you spend money on. But my whole point was to not include all kids as messy and or destructive.

      @ellem5314 Před 4 lety +1

      Ryan Anderson I’m a kid, wear mostly designer and I certainly don’t care for museums because we’re just not interested 😂 also, introducing designer to kids is also risky, now I only wear designer cuz we so hooked on the brands and the obsession of having expensive good quality pieces. I think all you need is respect for what you have, cuz trust me, no kid will ask to go to a museum with boring paintings. Also, true, ur correct on being civilized. You need to be civil and have a understanding of items

    My kids are grown now. I never spent money on designer clothes or followed the trend. They grow SO fast. I would always look for sales at Children’s Place or Justice. But, Target had the best durable leggings, babydoll tops, skirts and dresses. I did however buy good quality shoes and sneakers. Not going to have their feet hurting or get jacked in cheap shoes.🙂😉

      Growing up, my parents weren't into buying my siblings and I brand name clothing even though they could afford it, because they would rather spend the money for college. I think buying good quality shoes are essential for comfort and wearing them for a long period of time. For example, buying the sneakers and shoes from Payless were not the greatest investment for your money where they will last up to 2-3 months before they are worn out or have holes in them. As an adult, the clothing brands that you wear will not be as important to the quality of the materials and cost per wear. I tend to shop for my clothes at Target, Tj maxx, outlet stores, Express, Loft, and other stores that will have good deals on clothes, shoes, and accessories.

    • @tinaloveseddie

      sweetcupcake408 That’s awesome.🙌Those are all great stores too! Plus Marshall’s. I love fall clothes, it’s easier. A tunic sweater, leggings, uggs or suede booties, infinity scarf and short trench coat.🧣🧥👜

    • @sweetcupcake408
      @sweetcupcake408 Před 5 lety +1

      tinaloveseddie I do like brand names and designer labels where I will buy it if it’s on sale. In terms of clothing I care more about quality and the colorful fun designs rather than the actual labels on the clothes. Also, when you buy things from the store you also have to consider cost per wear in order to make it worth spending money on these items. Personally, I could live without spending hundreds or even thousands $$$$ on high end designer shoes where I could spend the same amount of money on multiple outfits, accessories, and shoes to add to my closet. Last year, I bought myself a 2017 13.3 inch MacBook Air which was expensive, but it was worth every penny to invest in buying the laptop where I do use it very often.

      I think it also goes beyond the child destroying the clothing: depending on the child, in the long run, it can cause damage to the child mentality. Why waste money even if you got it. This should not be our mentality. It would hurt me to know that there are starving kids in the United States and I decided to buy a three hundred dollar outfit for my child because I got money.

The question was not "Would I buy my kids designer clothing" I don't believe in forcing my opinion on others. Let people raise their kids the way they want to and spend their money how they want.

Kids grow, they get dirty its not really worth it for working class. But if you only buy those designer items then what difference would it make? As long as they're comfortable and age appropriate.

      Exactly but "spending life savings to make a child look good for your own sake." that's literally what it is though so no, not different. My girls are wearing nice inexpensive good quality clothes and the money is going to saving for their education. They do NOT need gucci and balenciaga and whateverthehell for a few months, they need a good education (which also happens to help all and the planet too) that will last them a lifetime and more.

  • @NintendoNerdKim
    @NintendoNerdKim Před 6 lety +4

    I agree with you all about the topic. I was born in July of 1994 and back then, things were still pretty old fashion and clothes were just a regular staple item. But growing up, my parents never spoiled me or bought me any designer clothes. I vividly remember my childhood wardrobe consisted of mainly Gap Kids clothes because I was a skinny little thing and their jeans were the only ones with an adjustable waist band. But long story short, I am now 24, newly graduated from college and I understand the value of a dollar and the value of money and where it comes from. My parents were able to give me everything I needed and it didn't need them spoiling me ever. I think that often times, parents these days forget how quickly kids grow out of clothes and how quickly clothes can get ruined. But parents should start their kids young with valuable lessons because if they do not, kids will grow up with no knowledge or tools to make it into the harsh real world.

    I have routinely spent hundred of dollars on clothing items for my infant that she only wears a handful of times. I agree that 'designer' clothing is silly however the items that I have purchased are all to do with cold weather. Patagonia and Canada Goose is worth it when you are camping and you know your kid is warm. We also know that these will be hand me downs for future kids and once we are done we can sell them. The $300 Canada goose, for example, can be re-sold for close to $200. You cant really sell the low quality clothing so the difference in pricing after all is said and done is very minimal. The other trick is to buy used high end clothing online since again they probably have only used it a couple times. If you re-sell these items and keep them in good condition you can often come close to breaking even since they are easy to sell.

    No. I as a parent wouldn't dare do such a thing. My son is a tough kind of child, this clothes are destroyed because kids will be kids, they don't understand the value of things. I stick to Carter's, old navy (sometimes), mostly children's place (for clothing), burlington has some really nice stuff, I use to be in love with gymboree but that love has faded. Lol. I try to be cost effective when it pertains to his clothing because in the blink of an eye, he outgrows clothing a shoes. However, with shoes I'm a huge Clarks fan, so he gets his desert Clarks or walabees but they are normally on sale and I have coupons. Lol.

    I am a little nervous shareing my view on the video but here it goes. Ok so if the kid is alittle older like maybe 10 or 11 or whenever they get allowance or something, they could save up the money for what designer piece they want to wear or have. Saveing up teaches good budgeting skills and other great skills thet will need later in life. On another end of it, if its like toys or a video game or stuff like that its beneficial to save up for that too if they want it. Not all the time though cause its good to reward ur kids for good things they accomplish or get them gifts on holidays and such. I dont have kids & i dont plan on haveing any. I am just shareing my view. Have a great day & dont forget to be kind to one another.

    Me and my mom was just talking about this the other day. People spend so much money on their kids clothes and shoes knowing that kids will be kids. Kids are going to play and get dirty. Don't put you child in some name brand clothes and expect for them to sit their and look cute. It's not happening. Not only that, but kids grow none stop. So it would be a waste of money to buy all these name brand clothes and they'll only wear it for maybe a few months because kids grow like weeds. I feel like people in the hood do it to brag, knowing that most of them don't even have the money for that mess but still buy it. If you have Oprah, Beyonce and Kim Kardashian money then hey, do you. But if you don't have the money like that, please stick to what you can afford because I don't want to hear about you owing rent money or light bill money the next week.

    You never know if you're going to fall on hard times. I think it's better to save that money and invest for your child, than to upkeep an image. A child would probably value more from a savings account when they're 18 than designer clothes. They don't understand the concept anyways.

I would want until they can take care of them properly. Sometimes it's the Parents trying to live life through the kids to buy all of the materialistic things.

    I'm 25, and growing up my mom brought us what her money could afford. She shopped for us at Walmart, Value City, Goodwill, Garage sales, etc. Every now an then she would buy us a nice pear of sneakers from the sneaker store and let us pick out what we wanted as long as they were on sale. But growing up me and my sister wore uniform most of our lives anyway, so it didn't really matter because we had to wear black dress shoes. Kids don't really care about that type of stuff until they become 12/13.

    Childrens clothes that are designer are usually more affordable than from the adult's sections. If you do buy designer clothes for your children, if they are really young, you're not buying it for them you're buying it for your own benefit. If the children are older you are conditioning or influencing them in a particular way and it all depends on how you do it. Designer comes with designer price tags for a reason but don't forget the outlets or sales y'all.

  • @SeychelleSunshine
    @SeychelleSunshine Před 6 lety

    I think if you have it and you just like those brands, go ahead. If your children go to a good school, your home and cars are paid, and y'all have everything you need then hey. It's your money but make sure that your children understand the value of a dollar, and that you're not restricting them from normal things just so they won't get the expensive clothes dirty. If you're putting them in $300 jeans all the time, those jeans will get dirty unless you're restricting their outdoor kiddish activities. It would be a waste for me personally, but I can't tell others how to spend their money when their kids are fed, clothed, and cared for. I'll take Once Upon A Child 10 for $10 and Marshall's clearance any day. They spit up, poop, get messy sometimes, and grow like weeds. Going out clothes will probably still be on sale- especially if they're name brand, but they will always have clean and comfortable things to wear. The way I see it, it's just more money to go toward necessities and wants that are more important to us and them. I'll put the money toward school funds, inheritance, savings, and family vacations. It's basically what's important or liked by your family.
