  • Did you know that Michigan produces award-winning, world renowned wines? Yeah, we didn't either. When we found out, we knew we had to check out some of the wineries, and what better area to discover fantastic wine than throughout Michigan's oldest and longest wine trail, the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail. So that's what we did. Come along and join as as we taste our way through the Leelanau Peninsula!

    Founded in 1998, Black Star Farms has become a true one-of-a-kind destination nestled among the scenic rolling hills of the Leelanau Peninsula.     2. Ciccone Winery (cicconevineyard.com)
    Ciccone Winery is one of the first ten wineries in Leelanau Peninsula. This small, family-owned and operated vineyard planted their first grapes in the spring of 1996, and since then they have continued to grow fantastic Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, and Gewürztraminer. Did we mention that they are also the only winery east of the Mississippi to grow the Dolcetto grape. So good!

    3. Brengman Brothers (brengmanbrothers.com)
    Roughly 10 minutes from downtown Traverse City is the 2015 San Francisco Wine Chronicle Competition (the largest competition of American wines) gold and silver medalist recipient for varietal, Brengman Brothers. This vineyard prides themselves on their environmentally sustainably practices and hospitality.

    I had no idea Michigan was this serious about wine. Looks like a great weekend trip. It would be fun to do a tasting at each place.
