  • @satsumamoon
    @satsumamoon Před 3 lety +3

    This has a good sideways stretch. Id use it for the tops of socks using a stretchy cast on , or for wrist warmers. A summer spagetti top would also be nice (japanese short rows can be used with this stitch). It opens into a net like fabric so it wouldnt be good for rugs . Its also a time consuming stitch , as each row is worked twice, so I really cant imagine using it for a large project. If finishing with a seed stitch then either make increases after every third stitch or double the thread ;and use smaller needles in both cases as the twisted stitch is very dense and the seed stitch would otherwise be very loose and open.

    Hi Joanne! You're always my first place to go when I am looking for just the right pattern! I'm going to be working on a white to black self striping yarn (with all the shades of grey in between) do you think this pattern would work well if I did the first say, 3 inches of the bottom in 2x2 ribbing, then a row of purl stitches as a foundation to transition into this twisted stitch pattern in the center (maybe 4 inches wide) another row of purl stitches and finish the top off in the same 3" wide 2x2 ribbing at the top? My yarn is not quite as thick as yours, but was wondering if you thought this might work? Thanks so much. As my Dearest Nana passed away many years ago (she taught me how to crochet at a very young age), I consider you my knitting Nana! So I trust your expertise and opinions. Thanks so much! XOXO ~~Divinity~~

      Something very important to know about this stitch is that it takes lots of yarn. It becomes very thick and also it slants a little to the right. The same happens with the Rosebud stitch. The "framing" of the blanket is wonderful.

    • @JoannesWeb

      Please use a few rows of garter, seed or ribbing stitch at the bottom. If you're making a scarf, you might want to use 3 or 4 stitches on the sides. They don't curl if you are making a vest, since you sew the sides. This stitch tends to go sideways, so please plan to block it when you're done.

    I just completed a cushion cover in this twisted stitch and whilst I absolutely love the stitch, as my work progressed it grew wonky to the point that it was almost a diamond shape. I was able to reshape a little as I joined the two halves but I wondered if anyone might have had same problem or had a solution. Many thanks

    Wonderful 😍 i was wondering if there was a knitting equivalent to the crochet thermal stitch. Thank you so much for sharing. ❤

    • @JoannesWeb
      @JoannesWeb  Před 4 lety

      The thermal seems a lot more tightly knit and this one more 'airy'. I would say not so similar. And that one looks nice too :) Thank you.
