Red Wing Vladimir Konstantinov's medical team fears law change will cost him care

He was one of the best defensemen in the NHL. They called him the “Vladiator.” Vladimir Konstantinov’s aggressive plays helped win the Red Wings the Stanley Cup for the first time in 42 years in 1997.

Yeah, even with Mike Ilitch passing, I doubt the organization will allow his care to be compromised in any way and even if the new management is that rotten, the players would gladly take care of the costs. Hell, Stevie would find a way all by himself if it came down to it. I'm more concerned of the non-superstar status people the law impacts.

This makes me so sad to see that corporations and law makers care more about their bottom line than the care of not only him but so many others. I can understand wanting to make changes, but people that had prior injuries should really have been “grandfathered” into the law to protect the benefits they need and were awarded in judgment at the time of their injuries. That only makes sense to protect those already affected, but to place a clear line when the percentage in coverage changes.
