6:17 IMO, when Ridly Greig took his empty net slap shot, and Morgan Reilly cross checked him in retaliation, the only problem with that whole situation, was that Greig seems to be completely surprised that someone was trying to punish him afterwards.
If you wanna be a hotdog, go ahead. But you can’t be one, and expect impunity with it. That’s all.

100% about the respect thing. That’s why hockey is the best sport. It polices itself.

90% of kids would rather play on a losing team than sit on a winning team. You can’t just ignore the facts.
Yourh sports is about YOUTH and what’s best for them, not what’s best for the adults.

Shortening the bench vs. Benching kids for lessons (bad attitude, bad penalties, no passing, etc…) are COMPLETELY different.
Shortening the bench. It should never be grey. That’s the problem. Initially it’s 1-2 shifts and next thing you know it’s half the game. Never seen a coach shortening the bench appropriately and fair.
Hockey Canada pathways are 100% clear. No shortening the bench.
Benching is different than shortening the bench. You can use benching to teach lessons.

The NHL and no development is old school thinking. EVERY NHL team now has skills coaches for every aspect of the game. As Torts says the guys get to the NHL now (so young due to cap) that they have to develop now even at NHL.

Swearing doesn't need to be "yay" or "nay". Swearing can be a tool. If you are constantly swearing... .and then you really need to get your team's attention... where can you go from there?
Whereas if you hold back and use other language... and then the one time the kids are dragging in a tournament and you really need to be the energy producer and you drop one cuss word... boom, everyone is paying attention. Everyone hears it.
It's your "turn it up to 11" option... but you only get one or two a year if you want to use it like that.

If you’re a coach and you are ultra competitive and you NEED to win, then don’t coach minor hockey, go coach pro or Jr. that’s a whole different story.

Eh, the code stuff is lame. Maybe he can give him a hard time but the stick to the head was disproportionate. Whining in my opinion. Win the game and you don’t out yourself in that position.
