Recorded in Avi's closet, filmed in his kitchen, and produced for $400. And then it won a Grammy.
For added joy/awe, look up private live performances of this medley. There are some around of them performing it off mics. They sound exactly the same. It's ridiculous.

Well, obviously not exactly the same, but they do a really great job of it for a live performance and considering that the sound setup is far from optimal

Oops missed this earlier. Because it is so amazing what they actually did some legends get started that are not precisely accurate. Yes to everything in here but the $400 was just for supplies. Fifgen did the video production and that cost a bit more. See article strobist.blogspot.com/2013/11/pentatonix-daft-punk-video-low-budget.html?m=1

You might want to take a look at a Pentatonix original song, "Love Again", which shares the cyberpunk feel of this video with a strong EDM vibe. It is one of their older videos, but is still their most-viewed original song. Mitch's soaring highs and Avi's rumbling lows create an impressive soundscape, and the impact of Kevin and Avi together for the beat has to be heard to be believed.

The blue was an homage to the blue used by Daft Punk in the animated movie they scored... also the visor for Kevin is because he couldn't deal with the contacts... the futuristic fluoro accessories were a nod to the track that Daft Punk did for the movie Tron. PTX always put little details like this in their covers of other artists tracks. PTX love EDM and they loop with their mouths !!!

💥Get to know the members of this 3 time Grammy winning Acapella group!
👉Scott Hoying (guy with the white hair) - primarily a baritone Scott perfectly covers the bass when the bass has a lead. Scott also hits amazing falsetto!! He is EXTREMELY SOULFUL and is a vocal chameleon!!
👉Kirstin (Kirstie) Maldonado - mezzo soprano, alto
👉Mitch Grassi (guy with short dark hair) ((he, like Kirstie change their looks A LOT so don't get confused thinking they are different members)) Mitch is a counter tenor.
👉Avi (Ah-vee) Kaplan (guy in corn rolls) is the AMAZING bass / basso profundo Avibalso sings in a BEAUTIFUL baritone/tenor voice and in this video he is doing wind sounds and other effects among singing bass. Avi was an original member from 2011 to end of 2017 He left on good terms with the group and has an AMAZING solo project going.
👉Kevin Olusula (K.O) is the INCREDIBLE beatboxer he does special effects and has a BEAUTIFUL tenor singing voice and plays cello while beatboxing!
👉.....Matt Sallee is the new bass who replaced Avi.

How about PTX cover of Can't Hold Us originally by Macklemore /Ryan Lewis. They rap y'know. Others with rap - Problem (Ariana Grande), Thriftshop.
Something classical? It has to be Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy by Tchaikovsky.
    That was a gaddam reaction!!

Re: people saying that daft punk aren't musicians because of looping, you have to have musical type of perspective so that you can know exactly when to cut things off and when to play it along with whatever you are producing and it has to be exact on the money otherwise it wouldn't sound right. So you are absolutely correct in saying that they absolutely stupid for saying that. But as like...everyone said, great reaction and happy to see more people down in this ptx rabbit hole. :-)

Your reaction was so freaking fun to watch!!!! I promise you that they can do this perfectly live in concert. Kevin, the beat boxer, is a musical genius. Seriously, he's a genius for real. Can not wait to see you delve into their music. Love Again is an absolute must watch!!! One of their first original songs.

Loved this reaction. I think you’re the first that knew each song of Daft Punk they meshed up in this, your face showed amazement each time you recognized one. I mean, for this particular PTX video, I find your reaction most valuable because you really know Daft Punk, and you knew what it takes for them to perform their cover to it, being an a capella group. Then you summed it up at the beginning of your video : you were intrigued how they’d succeed in that ! They didn’t disappoint, did they ? Won the Grammy for some reason, I reckon ! Thanks a lot for that reaction 🤗
