Thanks for the video! I got this ship a couple of days ago and wow, what a blast I am having with it. I am a casual player who enjoys destroyers and battleships. Cruisers have always been a difficult thing to play. Colbert handles almost like a DD and it offers quite a variety of builds which is great. Malta, you posted another video on the Colbert with the 13.8km build and I went for it. Boy, was that fun. Didn't take me long to get a battle with 6 kills, 200k damage and nearly a million coins earned. I never get krakens, so that was huge for me. The ship is high risk, high reward and I would certainly recommend it over the Ohio as the first ship to get from the RB. Absolute fun.

De Grasse in WoWS and the AA cruiser are technically the same ship. The Tier 6 is, what the ship was designed as, but remained unfinished until after WW2, because of the german invasion. The AA cruiser was, what they ultimately built from the hull. Bayard is btw. technically also the same ship, since it is one of the considerations, what to do with the hull after WW2.
I love the idea of playing light cruisers but I feel like I need to learn better throttle control before I can really be effective in them. Obviously everyone talks about using islands effectively but it's always scary to see just how well they can be used. I can never hear the construction sounds in the background btw.
I'm waiting for one of these "how I play" videos to start off with you talking about how much fun a ship is and how much you like playing it or how good it is, and then when the game starts you get cross map dev struck from 30km because a cv spots you for 10 seconds during the first minute of the game. If that happens, please, please, please leave it in and just add a 3rd game to the video. :) That would be comedy gold and a good learning point about rng.

I'm grinding the last 20k research bureau pts for either Ohio or Colbert , hard choice... I perfom very well in Bayard ( and i have Georgia) so i'm very tempted to go for Colbert.

Rewatchibg this after I got a Colbert myself, I think there's a real argument to have between range mod or reload mod. For range mod you get to farm bigger targets from further away (because realistically you can only farm BBs with that range, so at the end of the day you still have to get close for every other targets), and more generally just "play more" considering the tendencies for players to play from spawn. But on the other hand with range mod you get more easily spotted by other ships because of your longer range. With reload mod you only get 13.8 but at the same time it's easier to farm behind an island because you have less chances to get spotted by surprise by someone on the other side of the map because of your short range. It's probably the first time in the game where I feel like there's no real good choice for an upgrade slot. I played with both and they're both good.
Having more Insight on your thoughts is good, especially with cruisers that need alot of knowledge of positioning and dodging. Really nice Game . Is this one of your best Colbert Games

Hey Malta, I’ve been training a Colbert commander and I see that you run priority target for one of the 2-point captain skills. I originally thought that consumables enhancements would be the better choice so that you could get a longer hydro and engine boost. Does the information gained by PT outweigh the extra time on consumables? Or is there a different reason you choose it/would recommend it? Or is it all up to preference?
nice video Malta. Still I do have a couple of things to point out and ask Is your Colbert build usable for French light cruisers (like tier 6 and below) ? Do you think that to perform decently in this ship players should have at least tried ships like Minotaur or Jinan ? When you mentioned De Grasse at 9:21 the story is complicated, De Grasse was the predecessor to Colbert and is the same one as the one we have in game but it suffered the same fate as the D7P (the premium Dutch tier 8 cruisers) and was finally completed as a proto-Colbert (same main batteries but slightly worst AA) Finally regarding that Moskva at the end of the 2nd game on twin brothers, well, he can't overmatch you by a small margin, Goliath on the other hand, definitely can Anyhow thanks for the video and have a nice day.
Thanks for the comment! Don't use this build for other french light cruisers (152s) because Heavy HE will make your concealment worse. This ship is harder to play the Minotaur and Jinan due to the lack of smoke screen Rip De Grasse :( Yeah I know Moskva can't overmatch me :P
Interesting build, although was wondering if taking IFHE to be able to pen cruiser bow and stern at t10 would be useful. Yes your fire chance is halfed but Colbert has the highest fires per min anyway. Have you tried it with IFHE?
IFHE is not worth it, please, it doesn't give you 27mm of pen, it gives you 26mm, so you can only pen light cruisers, and stalin on top of its icebreaker, you get way more damage from the Fires that you would be losing.

I arrived in Bordeaux just a few months before Colbert was remove from were she was sitting. I remember that she was in really bad state, very rusty.

I use PT to know who's gonna shoot at me beforehand, so I wouldn't be as surprised when I do get shot at, it just helps me for survival. :P

I do not have a mod for that, to zoom out you use either mouse wheel or shift :)
