- I'm testing out the new Minelab Manticore metal detector in this episode with 55 of the most common finds in the U.S. including coins, jewelry, and relics-air testing each and showing the target ID and target trace. All testing was done in All-Terrain General mode. Thanks for watching!

The best air test video ever, what an awesome machine. If you have an equinox, what a simple machine to transfer too.
Appreciate that!
Thanks for the air tests! I wish it was that easy in the field LOL. I've noticed the Manticore, which I had less than a week, hits a bit higher on coins in the ground so I have been going by depth to dig them and have come up with 5 silver coins so far, two with nails, and most 6 to 9 inches ( I live in Western NY so coins sink a little further down in rich soil). I find the machine is much more sensitive than my Equinox 800 so there has been some falsing issues with deep nails, iron, etc. All part of the learning curve :) Overall I have been impressed and my area has become virgin once again!
I agree with everything you said. Anxious to really feel comfortable with it like I was the 800. Good luck to you with it!
@@IDigHistoryHow do you feel about it now after 8months? I just got one and am having a hard time figuring it out.
Thanks for the info and not the fluff!
You're very welcome. Thanks for watching
Thank you.
Appreciate it mate ❤

Great video, Just got my Manticore yesterday and since I don't have half the coins you do it sure will help. Thanks bud.
Good luck with it!
Nice air testing on all the coins but being in the ground for a very long time might have different I.D. numbers

very strange thing with my manticore, it detects on the edges of the coil, not down the center.
That is weird. I would def get in touch with Minelab about it. Should be covered under warranty.
You missed the flying eagle cent
Yep, I've never dug one, so not in my collection. Would love to snag one!
My manticore does very well in air test, but when I go hunting I can not seem to get it to penetrate below 6 inches in any setting here in Ohio soil which is not terrible. I buried a quarter ,a dime, and nickel flat at 8 inches. It will not pick up any of them in any mode or setting. Is anyone else having this with their manticore?
I just got one(prob 20hrs of use now) and that doesn’t seem right. I found a super degraded wheat penny the other day probably 10inches. Have you been messing with the settings and forgot to reset your machine?
That sounds like something is not working correctly with your machine. I definitely dig targets well below 6 inches. I would do a factory reset and if that doesn't resolve it, I would reach out to Minelab. I've had great experience with their customer service.
I found a three cent nickel and it rang up at 13-15.
Wow, that's crazy low! Good to know, thanks
