The second-generation Kia Cadenza elevates design, comfort and features to a level that should have the near luxury marks looking over their shoulders. Tom Voelk reviews the Limited version.
I currently drive a 5 year old kia forte . To be honest I only had to change oil and refuel the car. No other problems what so ever. Over 75,000 plus miles. Do I regret getting the kia? Absolutely NOT! I will be up grading to a kia stinger as soon as they are available but I will be keeping the forte for as long as possible. Great little daily commuter.
My grandfather just got a 2018 limited, and it is very fun to ride in and drive. Lots of features, very comfortable. The white interior is very nice. It does not attract heat as much. We also looked at a Lexus ES350, and the kia definitely outperformed it.
The Avalon is nicer inside, with good interior door drawers and an actual stitched dashboard (not just stitching on injection-molded plastic like the Lexus ES350). It also offers a very good hybrid powertrain, which is very quiet. Toyota is a few grand cheaper, but lacks heads up display which the top Cadenza has. Avalon has 11 instead of 12 speakers.
I would not think the addition of AWD would be a bonus. It adds weight, maintenance, decreases fuel economy, and changes the handling dynamic for the worse. In SE Michigan, my front wheel drive car has never made me wish for an AWD variant.
No AWD nor full trunk pass through however! Only a small ski pass through. Both necessities for me since I live in northern climates! Everything is excellent!
Im surprised i like this car i was very underwhelemd with the genesis g80. Genesis interior just seemed boring and dated to me. I am car shopping and am currently all over the place. But most luxury cars i have been looking at have been around 70 k dollars. This is 42k almost half the price. Definitely something to consider.
A couple things there. Sometimes, if the light is right when the car is first delivered, the first thing I do with the car is get as much of the photography done as possible while the car is clean. I can put the commentary in later. Second, since I'm with NYT, I am required to return the vehicle the way it was delivered and that means with a full tank of gas.
2012, 2015, and 2017 Hyundai owner here. All of them have been terrible in terms of reliability and Hyundai does whatever they can to get out of warranty responsibility! I would be very careful. The 2017 was my final Hyundai purchase. In fact, as I type this comment, I'm waiting on the dealer to repair it for the 5th time this year. So for about 4 months total out of this year, I've been relying on a rental car. Very inconvenient.
Why would you keep buying them then? I had the past model Cadenza and currently have a Sorrento. One of the only 2 cars that I have had with no recalls Or issues. I've had ford, chevy, Nissan (which was great besides the titan xd) jeep, Toyota. All had two or more recalls and/or additional mechanic issues. Don't forget the cadenza is rated #1 on JD power for quality and Kia is rated higher than most high luxury brands
All wheel drive is only a few thousand dollars usually- when offered in sedans. It's a shame it's not offered here. Imagine the market share that would be carved out? Crying shame!
Someone get this man more subs. Some of the best car reviews on youtube!
I couldn't agree more.
Tom is the Best
Wow that's a beauty. And the amber colored LED DRLs are a nice touch.
TheLifeOnHigh there's actually parking lights that can just use as drls

Man Kia did a good job
But does this compare to a Toyota Avalon 2016?
Yes. Why wouldn't it?

Avalon is missing quite a few things found on this car actually.
Their design are very eye appealing. Ever since Peter Schreyer took over when he came over from audi.
For those looking to spend less money on their Kia sedan, here's a look at the 2017 Kia Optima- czcams.com/video/qBskcpGAvCo/video.html
Tom, you are so professional and fabulous!
Nice car....and great video, Tom, as always!
this car looks pretty good and has amazing features. if they would only offer AWD it would be selling like hot cakes
Hey Tom, I used to watch your car reviews a long time ago and somehow lost track of you over the years. Glad I found you tonight still doing it :-)
I always love your life anecdotes. Driven Car reviews forever!!!!!
Tom should have over a Million Subscribers! He’s got the best quality videos! He’s up there with MotoMan, Straight Pipes & Steve Hammes‼️💪🏽
What a beautiful car! Makes my Ford Fusion look relatively dowdy, lol! Awesome review and reviewer!
I would not think the addition of AWD would be a bonus. It adds weight, maintenance, decreases fuel economy, and changes the handling dynamic for the worse. In SE Michigan, my front wheel drive car has never made me wish for an AWD variant.
Love your reviews. Keep up the great work Tom!!!
Love your reviews.
Even tho I liked the nerdier-looking 1st generation, this new one is really gorgeous. I really like that it's FWD also.
No AWD nor full trunk pass through however! Only a small ski pass through. Both necessities for me since I live in northern climates! Everything is excellent!
I really like this exterior and interior design. This looks much better outside than the current Optima.

Great review as always
Thanks alot
man u deserve much more than 40k
subs
Esse é o sedan mais lindo da kia e quando chegar ao Brasil eu vou comprar um desses
Like always..Great review! Tom.You are right! In korea, Cadenza is called K7. Optima has another name...It is K5~
shifter is straightforward. something American brands fail to do.
This car has come a long way from the Sephia days or lore....
Only thing missing is AWD... East coast buyers need it!
Love the interior . I like most of the exterior except the nose . I will add this to the list when looking for my next car .
Kia is more appealing than Mazda
Agreed
Odd, never heard of anyone preferring Kia over Mazda.
Agreed 💯
@@mrheyfuckoff1 Mazda sucks
Underrated car
Happy new year, Tom.
Can you please drive the Lexus GSF?
I'll look into it. No promises though.
Wish I had this car
i love your videos
I agree AWD would be nice
tom voelk. how tall are u ? is this car comfortable ?
Do you know if Kia are going to bring this to Europe in rhd?
HEY TOM'S WIFE... You should hear what your hubby is saying behind your back!!! :P
thanks to your review . it very good .
the design is growing on me.
Nice review...
I don't think the Cadenza has lane keeping assistant system, only lane departure warning.
It has Lane Keep Assist
Tom, I miss your reviews in the New York Times.
This is what the 2020 Kia K5(Optima) looks like now
So what do you do with all that toilet paper anyway?
1:19 a full fuel tank? :o
And your point is...?
I almost never see press vehicles with a full tank.

ahh okay cool.
Do you have to wash it, too? Wonder how the white leather will hold up to dirt stains.

Maybe you have a dealer issue

Liar
Tom Volkswagen
I love those Amber day time running lights. I do wish they'd hire someone to redesign that Horrible Kia badge.
The KIA badge looks sexy
Not probably.
Thanks, Tom. What's that? Your wife drives a hard bargain??
Yeah, I'm sure that's what you said.
In this class i would go for the new Buick Lacrosse...
DevPack
Or Lexus ES350.
Except the cadenza is a better car? Check any review site and see how the buick scores vs this kia
ES is ranked last on car and driver's mid-size luxury class, 15th place out of 15 cars. Also, the es is mid-size while the cadenza is a full-size car.
Im going by reliabiltity and Lexus are Buick are the most reliable
?? Kia ranks #1 in J.D power quality. How are Lexus and Buick more reliable than Kia??
The Cadenza is a very nice car, but it needs more engine options such as a hybrid or a proper diesel engine.
Diesel engines are available in certain countries where the demand is high. For North American market, I don't think we will be seeing one.
i wont the price please
Want AWD with your full-sized sedan? Try Buick LaCrosse and Ford Taurus.
I'd rather have the Cadenza....something that won't break in 2 years
All wheel drive is only a few thousand dollars usually- when offered in sedans. It's a shame it's not offered here. Imagine the market share that would be carved out? Crying shame!
he said it has lane keep assist. It does not
It does have Lane Keep Assist
I love that so much but Lexus is my brand. Not for the name but for the quality.
Kia is my brand, I don't want to touch a Lexus...
Literally a g80
G80 is on a rear drive platform.
Nice car. Scams debadge though
It's a great car but the engine would make me not get it.
Why?
Wow that grill/bumper arrangement is ugly. And that steering wheel...
Looks great
This looks like a China clone s90
All of the non-top spec trims look crappy inside. =(
Nice car that nobody wants
