ℹ️ About the episode:
This is our second visit to Kennebunkport Maine and we enjoyed it just as much as the first. The town is charming, the drives are scenic, the houses are stunning and the fall color was just starting to show. It's hard to plan the perfect camping moment. Sometimes the weather is just right and the campfire is hot and the food is great. That was the moment we had at Sandy Pines Campground. In this episode, we leave York, ME and make our way to Kennebunkport, stay a few days and then meet up with longtime subscribers Will & Sue in Camden. Next week, Will gives us a tour of Camden and we get out on the water and wrap-up with a lobster boil. Unless we do an Airstream review and tour next week, then the Camden episode will be the following week!

Wow when I started watching KYD videos Caleb was too young to drive...now he's backing the rig into a spot...he's grown up fast...and he did a fine job getting into the site!
Caleb: On behalf of many of your fans, let me congratulate you on your more than successful, masterful, exceptional, talented backing in!! Of course we have learned to expect no less than perfection from you. We can only imagine how it must feel to be so accomplished, intelligent and overall just…supreme at everything you do!!
🤣😂Lol! Honestly, I would have so much fun hanging out with your family. My family has the same type of back and forth and I feel so lucky to have grown up with that. It keeps your mind sharp and will be a benefit to you in your years to come. I’m 59 now and it gives me great joy to listen to you and your family. Enjoy these years. They are precious.
Love how Caleb nailed it! I mean he has seen you thousands of times do it. Well done Caleb! You'll be missed on the channel.
GAH ~ that's US! Shakedown trip! So fun meeting you all - nothing like backing into your very first campsite with your very first ever RV only to look out the front windshield and see Marc & Trish are your neighbors! We're just happy to see that this video isn't titled "Watch these newbies make a 45 point turn to finally get their RV into their spot". (which, by the way, would have taken Caleb ONE shot ~ he ROCKED that!) Safe travels KYD! ~ The Abraham Crew
Lol. You guys did great! Great to meet you too! Always fun to include the community in the videos as much as possible, if even just a short clip. See you down the road.
What?!?! That’s the most amazing RV story ever! It’s a sign that your RV future is bright :) Marc and Trish sightings are a good omen 😎
You have the absolutely most personable son. He has an outstanding most endearing personality! You should be proud. This young man is going far!
Caleb's masterpiece at backing the trailer in earns a 👍🏼 before the halfway point in this video 🏆
Mark and Trish.....you are the first ones who we have ever heard finally address the issue of the daggers (screws) of death underneath the RV. We always worry about kids and pets. Our dog loves to camp out under our trailer too. Here was our solution...We do not cut them or remove them.....we simply save our wine corks and screw the corks onto the exposed screw. Imagine our delight when we discovered there were dozens of these daggers beneath our trailer.....that equates into dozens of wine bottles on hand at all times. We are up to the task. Safe travels!
Caleb driving and hooking up the trailer!?!? Oh man...hard to believe he’s that old! Marc seems like a good teacher though 😎
Yes, that is so true that watching TV (and MSM) is not only a dreamer killer but it also generates unnecessary fear.
I'd like to hear more on that hypothesis of radio being a dream killer. Wondering how to keep that in balance especially while traveling. How much "checking out" is okay?
Just can't do w/o my sports stuff, but could not agree more. We have band news channels from the truck, RV, & house. Hate breeds hate & love breeds love? Remember we are not here for a long time we're hear for a good time.
That look on Trish's face outside the ice cream shop 16:24....priceless!! 🤪
Tricia and Marc.... your positivity makes me want to be a better person. Thank you.
I love the driving lesson. I just trained both my boys on backing up. I took them to an empty parking and with trailer attached, we played slalom with cement planters in the parking lot, BACKWARDS. Lots of fun to see them learn. It's a good way to put a teenager's "know it all" arrogance in check. Your boy did great.
Caleb you lucky dog! Many people don't have a parent that has the patience to train someone to back a trailer in public! Wait till you get home and it never happens! Congratulations on putting the trailer back into place first time! I think my first time was probably 20 times trying!
Excellent - so good to see your newest driver learning how to handle the full rig. It’s so important for everyone to know how to handle the rig in an emergency.
We have been RVing my Sons entire 15 years. He has been driving the truck while hooking up for several years. At home when he was little he insisted that I install a hitch on his Power Wheels truck so he could pull his red wagon and he was able to back it up.
My 8 year old son loves putting on and off the xchocks (supervised of course) and he helps out with filling the water tanks. Every time we go out he wants to do more and more
I assumed maybe your videos were a week or a month......behind, giving you time to edit or whatever. It’s Columbus Day weekend and you’re posting about camping Columbus Day weekend. So cool. Hope to run into you someday on the road. You have been very helpful and inspiring to us. God bless!
Watching the barefoot bandit backing up was the most excitement I've had all day, so proud of him!
Caleb, you sir absolutely rocked backing about Platinum Ginger!!!! And I'm so happy that you all checked under the rig for Charlie's safety...and Tricia we also cook our potatoes over the fire, they taste so much better, and grill the asparagus..okay now I'm ready for another camping trip with the grandkids...another great video Leach family...and Charlie barking saying "enough filming dad let's go for a swim"...can't wait for the lobster boil next week...take care, have fun..
love Peggy 💗 ♥ 💓
"Dad, you have no idea how many video games I play." HAHAHAHA my son said something similar. it was "I am so good at Mario Cart, driving will be easy."
Love your videos!
Ahh, if only real life was as “easy” as a video game :) Ha ha.
I gotta say, I really simply enjoy you all! I'm thrilled and a little nostalgic now that I see Caleb driving because he was so young when you started your adventures. I see your kids growing like I saw mine growing and it's wonderful that you chose this lifestyle to spend time with them. They'll be better adults with so many life experiences. You're doing a great job!
What a couple you are. We have followed you since day one...boy the kids were little! What great parents you are. We are just hoping you will still be doing your you tube video's now that you have started e3. I'm just an old US Navy Vietnam vet that travels the back roads of the upper midwest in our 22' TT. We would love to join your elite new group but the funds don't allow it. Our hope is that our Sunday night's at, 7:30 will be include a visit with you fine folks. Kind of hope you'll still include us in on the hats, tees, goodies etc.
Mark and Trish- My son has been working on his photography and videography and he is learning more every day. Watching him learn makes me appreciate the quality of your video’s. I appreciate the effort you put into each of these episodes. We are working in earnest to acquire our first RV, inspired partially from watching KYD. Thank-you!
awww "thanks mom"............. soo sweet the way he said that.
Trish, I completely agree, there is nothing better than going for a good drive and finishing it off with a good desert. YUM!!!
Super awesome job Caleb, better than I did on my first attempt I can tell ya! 😳😱🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sometimes it's hard watching your travels.. l miss RVing!! Financial reasons has put a damper on our travels. I love your videos.. Love all of you. Caleb, you are the best!! Almost forgot the Best Dog in all the world.. Love you Charlie!!!!
Charlie's tip: crawl under the airstream to work: cooler, peace and quiet, and plenty of shade for your laptop! And, Great job Caleb!
All the aluminum of the Airstream really helps boost the Wi-Fi signal when Charlie needs to some as a Website Administrator!!
I always look forward to ya'lls videos every Sunday it is the perfect thing to end my weekend! from 💙💛 WV
“ feel like I’ve known you for years “ if that doesn’t say it all about this wonderful channel? It’s a pleasure to subscribe
I think we need a “how mark and trish raised their kids to have great personalities” video one day
I would love to get those tips from them.
Jim Faye - Love and Logic :)
Keep Your Daydream I don’t think the kids had a hope of being dull and boring with Trish & Mark as their “genetic material suppliers” & parents!
Agree
Came from there parents duh!
When I teach someone to back a trailer, put your hand at the bottom of the steering wheel, whichever way your hand moves is the direction the trailer moves.
Charlie is so adorable ! Great "dog advice" about the pitfalls of going under rigs ..... that's a first :-)
Very!!!
I am very impressed at how well Caleb did backing the trailer!
I sometimes forget how lucky we are to live in Midcoast Maine. We spent a LOT of time camping in Camden/Rockland this summer and I’m already missing the weekends. Awesome to see KYD in Maine!
So cool that you are teaching Caleb all the things he'll need to know!!! So many young ones don't get this attention anymore.
Y'all have such a cool family!
And yes, there is always restricted airspace over/around a President's (or former President's) residence. Actually, the restricted airspace follows the President around, too.
You fixed wing, Marc? I'm an old rotary wing pilot.
I almost died when you listed the things you are not allowed to do...Welcome to New England!! The funny part is, here in Massachusetts, we see Maine as being more relaxed on their rules. Anyway, the coast of Maine is one of the most beautiful places around here. Glad to see it in your videos!!
Another hot tip for learning to back up is grab the bottom of the steering wheel and which ever way you want the trailer to go you turn the wheel that way. Caleb did great for his first time.
Born and raised in Vermont, we all vacation in Maine. It is stunning. My parents moved to Southwest Florida and I got to see and swim in blue water, changed my outlook on "going to the ocean".
You know where I live. I'll go into Cava Robles in the afternoon when the wind comes up and the next day or that day, I get calls about awnings. Since it's the weekend, many times is just tie it up, wireties and the same with the supports. Today in fact a Tiffian Bus had the same problem, it ripped. tie it up and wire tie the sucker so he could get home.
You made a good point, do not leave the park with your awning out!!! Or be prepared to send $$$$ to get it fixed!
"tv and radio are dream killers" Love that!
Caleb did so well on backing up the trailer, OMG, he is growing up so fast. Can't wait for next Sunday
Oh lord Trish!!!! Caleb's growing up so fast! Backin up that rig is Epic!! Video games is how they're teaching the younger truck drivers on backing up also in the drivin schools!!
Well Done Youngman!
Wow Caleb, you did an amazing job backing the RV in it's parking spot! I was super impressed by your skills. Keep practicing and you will have it perfected in no time and could be better than your dad. lol And speaking of your dad and you mother too, they are amazing parents and guided you right in that spot perfectly. Not all parents would have that kind of patience, but yours do. I know you appreciated your amazing parents and I know your parents appreciate their amazing kids! Beautiful areas you guys were in, quaint towns from the looks of it. Just gorgeous and I can't wait to see more. Hugs, Brenda
Caleb killed it! Trish you are such a good communicator :)
4:15 to 4:25 I totally agree! So wonderful to hear it said from others. Keep Your Daydream!!!
Wow, Great job Caleb! Love that area. And I enjoy Trish's cooking tips! LOVE it when you share RV time and camp time and cook time. Feel like we are there with you. Love that Mr. Charlie!
Definitely love the small moments, Rving is sometimes the best moments in life,
Such beautiful country. I was stationed north of Bangor in the 70's. I hope to take our camper up there again in the future. Camden was one of the most amazing places I've ever been.
This is now one of my favorite episodes. Totally harks back to early KYD adventures! And anytime I get to see my homeland (Maine) -- especially in YOUR videos -- life is good. Fantastic video, friends. PS - any time we have leftover proteins & potatoes, our next morning brunch or midday lunch is breakfast burritos! Eggs, leftover potatoes, leftover proteins, plus good tortillas, salsa, and sour cream. Delish.
I was very impressed with Caleb backing up the truck and the rig! Only had to pull up once. That drive a long the lake was very beautiful!.
I like when y’all address real life camping like you did in this episode. Cause it’s not just about partying all the time. Especially when you’re full time, like y’all are. Very enjoyable.
So agree, we love driving and exploring new places.
Great to see Caleb learning the “ropes”. Maybe you could do a video on what Caleb does in the back seat . It might be a good perspective for other families considering on what their kids can keep busy with. As always awesome video!
Love seeing Charlie, he deserves every bit of lovin' you can give him!!!! But you already know that I can see!!!
Just came back from Mt.Desert, Arcadia National ParK, absolutely Gorgeous. The leaves started to turn color and at night the Milky Way shined down us. Stayed at Mt. Desert Narrows campground. Backs up to Frenchmen's Bay. Huge campground with lots of waterfront campsites and stunning sunsets to boot. Love watching your weekly videos. safe travels
LOVE going around with you guys!! We're newbies, so I'm GLUED to every detail. Learning SO much!! And you're ridiculously organized; TRUE PROFESSIONALS!
Was in a campground that we camped at on a regular basis and a neighbor had not come up for the weekend and I was sitting out enjoying the weather and reading when someone in the campground started shooting off firecrackers! Lo and behold didn’t a lit burning one land on the neighbors awning that they had left open while they were gone!
Lord I never flew so fast, out of my chair, out of the screen house and down the hill to hit the awning till that firecracker bounced off and fell to the ground! Had I not doe so they would have lost their awning instead of just having a scorched one! I was so angry I took after the moron who set them off! Never leave your awning vulnerable!
I have to met the kid did pretty good. One other point of you about awnings when putting them away it’s always good to make sure that they’re wiped clean and there’s not a lot of moisture and water sitting in them when you roll them up. If you don’t use your rig all the time it’s important to dry Off the awning so it doesn’t turn into mold the next time you open it. Keep on keeping on
I think Charlies work tip of work hard and take a nap is the best advice ever. 😂
Caleb made that look waaayyyy to easy! Way to go Caleb!
Mum's so positive as Caleb backs up......Dad....nervous......
The awning mishap story is a timely reminder for people to check their rigs for loose fittings before travel. Just last week in Australia, a solar panel came loose from a travel trailer travelling on the highway, resulting in the death of three people from two other vehicles. Travel safe.
A few weeks ago I got bored and was watching season 1....
How things have changed, yet are exactly the same.
Keep up the GREAT JOB'S
:)
You're in ny neck of the woods now and I am on my way to Florida, you guys have helped me be able to take this huge leap, thank you, I watch a lot of CZcams videos and you've all been such a huge inspiration, again thank you for that. There was a point in my trip I got scared and wanted to go home another CZcams channel helped me, actually got on the phone with me and talked me thru it, Mary her name is and now I'm 500 miles away from my destination anyway great video, per usual, thanks for sharing and as always stay safe, safe, and God bless love ya Nancy
Excellent job Caleb and Trish & Marc fabulous coaching without the panic.
Walk back and adjust the hitch down. Literally learn something new every time I watch :) Should be hitting the road in Jan! So excited! Glad to have your channel for juicy tips and tricks as well as good old fashion adventure :)
Great video! Beautiful place to visit. I love seeing how you interacted with your son. He seems to be a great young man.
Great job parking! I think growing up helped him absorb a lot of knowledge in dealing with an RV.
Kyd videos are always a nice way to end a Sunday night. 👍🏻
I thought that campground was neat with the options of cabin, yurt, *glamping* (I liked best), but, how cool was that to see a Conestoga Wagon? Maine looks like a beautiful place so far. A lot of good people out there. Enjoy yourselves. Look forward to next week.
We stayed in a Yurt once... it was pretty cool! They stay surprisingly warm in colder weather.
Yeppers! Every week it's like catching up with old friends! Thanks for sharing, Leach family! You rock!
Welcome to Maine, We moved here a year ago and we're still exploring.
Great job, Caleb, and good job listening to directions! The difference between you and other young people, is that you listened! Your Dad and Mom want the best for you, and for you to not have problems. They are good at passing valuable information to you for free! Take advantage of all you can, because educations, though expensive, are a lot less expensive than ignorance!!! Best wishes to alll!!!
My husband and I adore your family and are so inspired by you all! We have three boys (8, 6 and 5) and are in process of taking more trips as a family while they're little. We eventually want to get a truck and an RV and travel full time, we love to travel but that is a bit more than we can chew right now. So instead, we are fixing up an old 2000 Chevy Astro camping van that my husbands grandparents gave to us for FREE (So blessed!) and getting an enclosed cargo trailer for it to tow for all of our camping gear. We will totally be tenting it across the East Coast next year one week each month while we work towards a truck and more financial freedom. Thank you for inspiring us to think outside of the box and make these adventures happen!
Thanks for the mini-vacation, guys. Always such a pleasure. A little startling when it ends and I’m just here😜
We LOVE Sandy PInes! Went camping there earlier this Summer to escape New York and loved it!
My wife and I were in Kennebuckport Columbus Day weekend and loved it. Sorry to miss you.
My favorite time of the week !!!!
Ours too!
Lol, my Son taught me how to back up my camper! Never the less, great job Caleb!
I love the real-time updates in the videos! Thank you, and keep up the good work!
Hey guys! I love the Kennebunkport area during the fall! My family is from that area. When doing potatoes and chicken, I love the taste of thyme and rosemary with some grape seed oil. It's so healthy and have amazing taste value. Take your time up there and enjoy the majestic vistas! Take care and Peace!
Caleb did a great job backing up. You mentioned the awning tearing, I had an experience on my trip back home from TN, where the awning was in as we were driving down the road but the wind caught the fabric and bellowed it out and ripped it before I could get to a safe place to pull over. I found out that they have stops that you can get for your awnings so when they are in it keeps awning from unrolling. Just a good thing to know. This video was fun as usual, like you last trip to Maine, so enticing.
We really love watching y’all together. Wonderful entertainment for our family.
Nailed it!! Caleb just gets his license, and now he's backing in trailers!
Loved the video! Great job Caleb, you nailed it. Thank you Trish for the cooking tips! Love you guys.
Great advice about under side of RV. Good job Caleb. He'll be a pro when he travels himself. Caleb looks so grown-up. Thanks for great video
Your videos are like a breath of fresh air... I always feel like I'm right there with you. And....... great job Caleb!
This was a great video as usual. Maine looks beautiful. Trish your potatoes looked very good. Glad you met up with people who live there. Caleb did great in parking the Air Stream. Charlie is very playful dog and cute. Mans best friend and woman’s. Thank you for this video.
I enjoy your videos. Stay safe and travel safe.
Very impressed with your son's backing skills. I grew up on a farm and was really bad a backing up a four wheel wagon with a tractor. I never really got it. I guess that is why I went to college and became an economist. My back up skills is why I have never wanted to tow anything behind my vehicles.
❤❤❤ Love this! Great job teaching Caleb, and great job Caleb on your first try. As we plan for our big road trip this summer, I know these days are ahead of my 18-year old new driver son and I!
Great job, Caleb! Another great video! Thank you for what you guys do.
Caleb’s funny, smart and uses information to his advantage. He’s such a hoot
We walked down to the water, and he got down on one knee ,asked , and then almost dropped the ring I. The ocean.
There was no parking time limit at that time. We walked back up to the top and sat on a bench to look at the ocean. Within minutes a big guy in a suit came over to us and asked where we were from and what we were doing. Congratulated us and walked away. We had no idea that was the Presidents house, and he and Barbara were there. When we went back to the B&B we were staying in , there the ones that told us . We all had a good laugh. I've always joked that if we want a vidio of our actual engagement , they probably have one.
This is good advice for some awnings, my Forest River RV however has a Thule brand. Thule awnings are housed inside an encasement, and the encasement is attached to the RV. Great job backing in the rig Caleb!
? How does Charlie do in the Camper when you have to leave him behind? Does he bark or get separation anxiety? Was there any training involved to help him get used to being in the camper by himself?
I agree that tv and radio are dream killers!
Like Caleb says its all in the genes. Loved it! Enjoyed the drive as get to see the different architectural landscapes of the area. Fun to watch and thanks.
So sad when you broke in for the live update and commented on this being the last camping weekend for many people. We were supposed to go this weekend but had to cancel due to a family emergency. Still hoping to get out one last time for some cool weather camping before putting the trailer to bed in underground storage for the winter ❄️ Love your Sunday evening releases - we look forward to 8pm ET each Sunday!! 😎
Sandy Pines is the BEST camp ground!! Love that place. We stopped there two summers ago and had so much fun.
In all your videos the weather is perfect, I take it, it is not always that way, sitting here on my porch swing, watching the rain and thunderstorms, I take it you are stuck in your RV waiting out the rain.
You nailed it. When it rains, we work. If you see weather, it's a drive day becuase we can't avoid it. And wouldn't you know, it rains almost every drive day!
You guys are amazing and a inspiration. Living the dream I wish I could. I hope you guys make some more canada trips but stay amazing and KYD!
