- My other job is a civilian for the Air Force which falls under the Department of the Air Force. It is a great job to serve our nation as a civilian and comes with many benefits like a retirement, growth and leadership opportunities, the Thrift Savings Plan- TSP, medical and life insurance, travel and many more.
Palace Acquire Info: afciviliancareers.com/careers...
Thank you for giving me all this information. I'm thinking of joining the air force! Wish me luck!
The Air Force is a great option. Definitely good luck!
I’m sure as heck not complaining! I’m a WG-08 cook working for the Air Force making the same as a SSgt with dependents!
Good for you Jon!
Hello there! Pretty sure you covered this already but…if I am currently a reservist in the AF am I able to also work a civilian job in the AF at the same time?? Thanks in advance
Currently a PAQ Intern looking to go to OTS -- I'm not sure if it is just my track, but the Palace Acquire program goes GG 7 - 9 -11 and outplaces as a GG-12
I'm familiar with the PAQ program as GS (General Schedule). From what I've seen it's a GS-7, to GS-9 and then GS-11. The grade limit should have been explained to you at the beginning. I would clarify if it goes to 11 or 12. If you get picked up for OTS, that would be great.
just applied for palace acquire. hoping for the best
af vet and in grad school i hope its competitive enough for an interview
Good luck! Go that route and at the same time, look for jobs in USAJobs.gov That is how you apply for jobs that are posted and you'll get veteran's preference.
contacting a recruiter tomorrow on base. still need 5 level before I can be hired. but, wanted to see what they had for me in ammo. my (current job)
Good Troy. It's always good to explore our options.
What would you recommend to a person that is torn between pursuing a career in the gs pay scale or in active duty service, specially if they're still 'entry level' like GS-05 or E-3? Which path seemed to have more prospect as far as promotion goes?
Both are good options. The military side offers travel, promotions based on how much you study, requires moving every few years, offers good medical benefits. The promotion side is quicker and better financially. May be recalled after hours. The civilian side offers stability in one location if that is what we want, promotions are possible usually when someone retires, moves or dies. The pay isn't as good as active duty. You do your job and no one calls you after hours (usually). The military side may open doors for civil service opportunities. It really depends on what we want as individuals.
Did your gs job let you attend rotc after you got that job? Were you able to study around your hours or they actually let you have time off for it?
I was prior enlisted active duty when I separated from the military to join Air Force ROTC. I was a full time student and when I completed ROTC, I went back on active duty. I did not have my civilian job at that time.
Hi. I am 27 year old mother and wife from Colorado Springs and I am planning to enlist with the air force. One of my many concerns with joining is my age. Will this effect me when it comes time for BMT? Please do I have to start physical training prior to BMT. I would like to joint by February 1st, but I want to make sure I'm prepared. Last but not least, is there a chance I can choose stay in Colorado for my first duty station? My husband and I bought a house back in 2012.
Hi Ruby, your age will not and should not affect you unless you let it. Definitely start your physical training now. Have you already contacted a recruiter? If not, I'd be surprised if you left as early as February. It usually takes some time and the people who signed up before you are waiting will most likely leave before you. Are you thinking active duty or reserve? If active duty, yes it's possible that you can end up back in Colorado Springs, but most likely that won't happen. Therefore, I'd recommend you and your husband have a solid plan with your house if you don't return as your first base. Since you bought in 2012 and the market is hot right now, you could probably sell it and make a profit???
I am prior service enlisted AF, currently am on inactive reserve, and have a BA and a Master's degree in healthcare administration. I am greatly interested in applying for the Air Force MSC. I am currently a teacher and was wondering if that would count as relevant managerial experience towards the ascension board? I also had received 5s on every EPR until around my separation when I received a 4 on my final EPR. Will this affect my chances of being selected? Do you have any websites or forums I can refer to concerning the 2017 ascensions board? Sorry for all of the questions.
Definitely contact a recruiter for the latest and greatest information. They will give you the current requirements needed for this career field. Here is the AF link: www.airforce.com/careers/specialty-careers/healthcare/careers/administration It's better to apply than to not apply and always wonder "what could have been." Your background will definitely look good and will help. The first step is to contact a recruiter and take it from.
Thanks for your help, Major. In terms of going for an active duty position or reserve position, I am torn since after the training period for reserves would leave me without a steady job. Should I contact the base prior to applying for the commission to ensure a civilian position at say the on-base hospital?
You could contact research the nearest on-base hospital for position vacancies. Those civilian jobs are usually listed on www.usajobs.gov if you visit the website, look for jobs in the city you'd be working. You bring up a good point that if you go reserve, what will be your main source of income since the reserve is a part-time job.
How long was your tentative offer to your firm offer with AFPC civilian GS position? I am waiting for my firm but I am waiting for AFPC
I’ve heard the process is a little slow right now. My offer was received within 10 days once I was selected. I was given 7 days to accept which I did.
Its funny that civil servants get more time to PT than active duty, but are not required to meet a standard. Im active duty but PT on duty probably 10 times a year lol
Most civilians don't work out as they should.
How's it going sir? What would you say about doing Personnel in the ANG?
*Client System Technician
My roommate is Personnel in the AGR and it's VERY similar to Personnel in the Reserve. It's not exciting but it works for me. I have great interaction with people daily, my evenings off and it works for me.
Is that the job? I'm not familiar with that one.
Yes sir the job is Client System Technician. The only base that has dental assistant in the reserves near me is Robbins and that's like a two hour drive.
I'm a sophomore majoring in information tech. and I applied for I.T. student trainee for air force how long do H.R. reply back to you?
Did you apply via www.usajobs.gov ? If so, keep looking at your application and hopefully you get the "referred" update. The other update is "not qualified" or something like that. If it wasn't through that website, let me know which way you applied.
