The best show on youtube.
I loved hearing kyde get in trouble on the lifts :D
LOL Eric used her full first and middle name. That's how you know you are in trouble.
@@danielwalker26 Reminds me of all the times Kyde shouted "Eric Klein!" and wanted to cut off his oxygen supply.
Hope you enjoyed. More from Japan is on the way, as always. Stay safe, friends.

I watch your videos while eating breakfast. Best way to start my day! Thanks for sharing your adventures.
Hope there is a banana on the menu for breakfast!
Not today, but there was some bagel, cream cheese, and seasoning. I bet you guys miss bagels and cream cheese lol.
Thank you, guys, for showing so many nature-y areas of Japan! It's been amazing through the years. It is an extraordinarily beautiful country.
Yes a Japan video again! You 2 the best of all!
I guess I didn't realize how much I've missed traveling the past few months. Either that or I just really need to visit Japan, from the Shinkansen onward I was just grinning the whole video. Loved it, thanks for showing a part of Japan I'd bet a lot of people don't tend to make a priority! Looked like fun, and you guys always make it so enjoyable to see vicariously.
ah yes, the sobakawa pillow, with the "ancient oriental secret" of "buck-wheat".....!!!D
Wow!! Sobakawa pillow reference! That takes me way back. Sobakawaaaa, for a restful sleeeeep 🎶
I must have needed this one right now, because I was charmed from beginning to end. Fun, funny, and full of wonder! Thanks as always for bringing us along.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it. -E
Fukui too. Nice.
Thank you for sharing this and loved seeing all your Fukui videos! We're about to head there this weekend so this definitely gave us some inspiration for places we need to hit up - especially that "lake"/"island" area!
Nice! Enjoy your visit there. -E
@@kydeanderic Thanks! Unfortunately it rained out by the time we got to the lakes, but we still enjoyed our trip =)
Really great first video, looking forward to watch the next one in the series!
Very beautiful toilet. Niceee. And this is a very fun video. Love you guys. You both a so fun.
The number of the stone statues is 88. The soil from 88 temples in Shikoku is buried in front of each statue. So walking around 88 statues means you walk around 88 temples in Shikoku.
That's much easier than doing it in Shikoku, hahaha. -E
5:05 I love the idea of retrofitting everything. They don't fix what's not broken, but if there's a way to improve something by a long shot simply by adding a little bit of stuff, they'll do it. In this case, a poster (old) with lights (new).
You can get on a green car without paying the fee prior to getting on. The attendant will see the light is still red and ask you waht station your stop is. She'll calculate the cost and you pay it on the train.
I loved travelling by shinkansen, like you said it's so smooth. As a tourist i really enjoyed getting a JR pass, still expensive but if you plan to move around a lot it can save you a bit of money.
This video was amazing! I love to learn about rural Japanese towns, yall do a great job explaining everything. What was the tune that played over the shinkansen footage? I liked it! Hope yall are well! Stay safe!
Glad you enjoyed! The tune was just something I recorded a while ago fiddling around at home. czcams.com/video/59TkXSoHCSU/video.html
"This some yabba-dabba-do shit"
I'm wheezing omg!
That Fukui coast looks _fantastic_ , thanks K&E. And the Wakasa
Uriwari Meisui Park looks worthy of inclusion on any plan around the
Wakasa Bay region, those waterfalls are quite beautiful (one gets the impression that it
must rain a lot around that side of the country)(As for the kitty cats, I'm no expert but I think that that was feline foreplay)
Ba ha ha “please don’t swing your feet”.... oh Kyde LOL
Really enjoyed this video. Thank you. You give viewers like myself hope that one day we will get to travel and explore. Loved it ❤️
Guys... I straight up love these videos. It's making me want to visit next summer for three weeks if they'll let us in. Keep up the great works Kyde & Eric!
Hopefully the world is back to normal at least kinda by next summer! -E
If not I can always hide out in one of those Tanuki statues. Charge kids exorbitant amounts of bells to upgrade their houses.
@@TheForsakenCouch I back this plan.
Great 👍 video

crunchy one is called karikari ume, to make it crunchy, you need to put egg shells with it
which stop the function of softening the fruit of the ume.
Really enjoyed that. I can feel another drawing coming on to pay for it. Thanks.
There's a ton of local water spots all over this part of the island (and anywhere outside of the bigger cities I guess). Next time you're out and about in Hokuriku, I can make a list of some of the ones around Toyama, Yatsuo, Nanto, Takaoka, Kanazawa, etc.
While there is usually some sort of shrine around it, it's free to take the water. Depending on the source, the water coming out can be very old! The mountains like Hakusan in Ishikawa have a filtration system that takes about a hundred years from rainfall to spring, others in this area are usually around eighty years or so. There's a lot of material for the water to filter through!
Often larger temples and shrines will do like in your video and charge for a special label (usually to give others the water as a gift from the more renowned places), or provide empty bottles for ~¥100. It's typical to see ojisans pull up with a trunk full of old shochu 4L bottles and fill them all. We have a really nice spot near us in Toyama, and the water has a mineral content that is perfect for rice and coffee! But we drink it and use it for everything (even our aquariums!), going through our big cube 20L container every few days. Always nice to leave some money for the maintenance and repairs, though! :)
A tip to look for public springs in larger cities is to check at larger sake breweries, or places that go through a lot of natural water. Fukumitsuya in Kanazawa has a public spring for the community.
haha, yea, not too many super fresh water sources in Tokyo. Thanks for the details! -E
Excellent tour of a beautiful area of Japan
I am not sure, but I think you eat umeboshi with Japanese rice with a little green tea on it.
Yea, you can. you can also raw dog them. hahahhaa
That swing! When we lived in Itabashi-ku the gym near our house had alarms on the exercise bikes that would alert a staff person to come over and tell us we were exercising too hard!
Hahahahahaha
Hahaha, that tiny bath tub cracked me up.
Nice start for the new series.
The guy in the TT just does water delivery.
I loved riding the shikansen. I went from Tokyo to Hiroshima also Yokohama and Yokosuka. Got to see 7 cities riding it. The JR Pass saved me alot of money.
Those glasses, they seem to somehow complete Eric - cool 😁
Please never change 🥰🥰🥰
That's fun, sauce katsudon is also the specialty dish of Aizu-Wakamatsu. It's interesting to see different area with similar dish like that.
Y'all should look up the new Land Rover Defender! :)
Foam pillows!
Your crack rock pillow! Lol
At the end it's like PBS, funded by viewers like you!
"Gimme some of yo money so I can make these videos!" 😁
That tempel area was epic.
Always nice to hear from you and see a different part of Japan. Kyde's hair has a nice sheen in this, or is it me?
For those wonder what park that was, it is Wakasauriwarimeisui Park
若狭瓜割名水公園 goo.gl/maps/k3nrYh9A3KoBo2eX8
Thank you 🙏🏾
Thanks mate. I was kind of annoyed that this place looked amazing, they said it looked amazing, and then, well, where the ***** is it?... I would have found it eventually (Google maps semi-pro...) but you saved me some digging. I've got to see it by myself. 🙏
It’s one thing to be told to stop moving your legs, but to be told that in English.. 😆 (at least there was no crowd there to turn their heads and look for the foreigner lol). Great video guys 👍
The temple being related to the Shikoku pilgrimage reminded me. There's actually an alternative rock band named after the pilgrimage (八十八ヶ所巡礼), and they're one of my favorite bands out of Japan. I wouldn't be surprised if Eric's heard of them, and I think they'd be right up the alley for most of the long-time viewers here.
Oooh I can sympathise foggy glasses and a mask😉. Great to see you guys touring Japan again.
Please visit the uk again, The uk loves you guys- any places you’d like to visit in the UK? I would love to fund your visit
We didn't get a chance to visit the southern part of England or Wales, so if we go back they are the list. N.Ireland (and Ireland too) for that matter! But given the circumstances of the world it prob won't be happening soon. -E
I loved Japan when I went but they definitely take your money constantly for tolls. I probably spent 500-1,000 dollars in tolls. 2 months driving around Japan
Yea, it's brutal. We avoid all toll roads. -E
I was just reminded of the liquor you both should on one of your videos. How is it coming along? I love sour, so those plums sound great!!
Gotta wait a year until you find out! -E
@@kydeanderic Ahhh, shucks! :D
27:00 It totally looks like it's flowing upward!
It's both genius and lazy obviously.
Wow that's a pretty place. I love the rose garden.
When Kyde asked “whatta you doing turd sniffer?” I felt that.
Fukui looks so beautiful. I so wish I could visit places like this one day. Bummer the hotel rooms are kinda crappy and expensive and have rock pillows
Oh, the crunchy pillow must be buckwheat hulls. They're actually really good if you got a sore neck or something. :)
Recommend going to the dino museum in Fukui. Just the train station alone is amazing...you can go on a dig.
We visited! Coming in a future video. -E
Those buckwheat pillows are supposed to be comfortable, but so noisy!
That is pure pain doing a whole lawn with a weed eater. My mower is broken and i had to do my lawn that way and my arms have been hurting for days. Every muscle aches but if a person did that often i imagine its not so bad. I've been to quite a few japan home centers and i've noted they have a huge assortment of weed eater blades, many that i've never seen. They don't just use the string, they use metal cutters that look like medevil dismemberment weapons
akane yamaguchi ❤️❤️❤️
What are those magazines what you always have at trip? Can you buy them online or download pdf?
We use a brand called まっぷる (mappuru) and they are in Japanese but I do think they have some translated versions for popular tourist areas. Not sure if they are online or not, we just buy ours at local bookstores. -E
Ok. Thank you!
It seems that this is their web page: www.mapple.co.jp/en/
They have multiple apps: www.mapple.co.jp/product/media/web-app/
I guess I will use this one, because cannot read Japanese: www.mapple.co.jp/digjapan/jp/
You can buy books online, but I don't know how expensive the shipping is: ec.shop.mapple.co.jp/shopbrand/nc20101/
The stone "mounds" Kyde was referring to (26min), resemble a kofun (tomb) which originated from the Sino-Japanese Kofun period - 3rd to 7th century. I hope this helps guys :)
Neat!
Did we ever understand what the lights on the poster were for?
Wow, Fukui looks like such a beautiful yet serene and not heavily touristed place. Was all the footage from this video from the same day, including the train fromTokyo?
Yep, all on the same day for this one.
I'm currently living in Fukui and as a foreigner myself. This place is underrated
Leave it to Kyde to get yelled at lol
Curious is there a japanese argument for not using lawn mower? Other than taking much longer time, the grass must also be more uneven with a trimmer?
I assume it's just that large scale lawns are rare so lawnmowers aren't commonplace.
😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 I guessed the right car!! Also there's no way in hell you guys will get a premium car to rent :P
What would be the advantage of spending more money on a car to rent? Haha.
“whatta you doing turd sniffer?” - What an opening...!
18:38 Mmmm... Plums...
Love me some 発泡梅酒 while watching...
23:50 Bawlz & Shaft... ;)
Looks like the start of an enjoyable trip... :)
The title is priceless.
Fukui too ! x
7:08 Ahh the Meatmobile. I'd definitely rent it if it were a rental.
Love the video. But please please wear MASK in Shinkansen or any other public transportations, even there are only few people inside.
Ever seen the 1975 Sonny Chiba action film "Bullet Train"?
Have always been curious about Fukui because I love the accent of those from the prefecture!
Where do you hear fukui-ben?
@@dayla8634 Arata Wataya from the anime Chihayafuru speaks in fukui-ben
@@_Luna____ Ah I see. never heard of it but gave it a listen. Fukui-ben is a little different. Anime about karuta? Supposedly there is a champion that lives here.
I always ask people when they leave Fukui if they use Fukui-ben, they say no cuz it's too embarrassing. They kinda sound like hicks, but I like it.
Dayla yes that’s correct, one of the champions from the anime is from Fukui. That’s an interesting outlook, I really like and appreciate their accent.
@@_Luna____ Also most of my students say that when they hear Fukui-ben in Movies and stuff, it's not really the same. Give a listen to the video linked. The girl on Left is from Fukui.

梅干しは体をアルカリ性にします。健康に良い食品ですよ。
Was that a PBS commercial at the end.
In the uk we have vehicle road tax.
Do they have this in japan ? If you pay road toll.
I wonder if there are 88 of those little statues to represent the 88 temples?
YEP! I looked it up last night and you are dead on! -Eric
"This is a one-plum activity"
Balsac the Jaws of Death must be saved! RIP Dave Brockie.
Are those plums the ones you guys are making under the sink or is that different?
Yea, same plums! These have been pickled though. -E

Good umeboshi!
Did you get the umbrella in a cafe for free in one of the metal cans?
You’re supposed to eat those pickled plums with rice!! No one eats it by itself 🤣 No wonder it seemed so sour!!
You can rawdog them if you are brave. -E
13:32 Look at all those c̶h̶i̶c̶k̶e̶n̶s̶ islands!
Wow, Fukui is such a beautiful place. Thanks for showing us, it's yet another place in Japan I wouldn't have thought of visiting but for your videos. Also, love the music at 4:30. Can you tell us who composed and performed such awesome music? 😁
A hidden musical genius. Hahhaa.
@@kydeanderic does his name happen to be Eric? lol

"Wetter"... lol Mmmoist.
NEVER shake bridges or ski lifts and stuff like that! Its scary for other people, and potentially dangerous.
If your going to Kanazawa let me know I would love to help with getting you two a free hotel night somewhere nice.
We hit Ishikawa as well on this trip, so that means Kanazawa is left for another trip sometime!

7:25 theres text in russian. Why? Theres lots of tourists from russia over there?
Usually means it's a port town where Russian sailors visit. -E
👍
I haven't been on public transport since March 14th. I haven't been anywhere since then for that matter. Thus is the price of taking immune suppressing drugs. I so wish I could just go do my regular routine again, but I am just not comfortable. Especially given my local government is ignoring the experts in its policy decisions.
Stay safe! -E
6:00 But what is special about the Green Car that requires special tickets?
I think they have a slightly nicer seat? I'm really not 100% sure, haha. -E
@@kydeanderic Oh, ha!
Why are there cats in a fish tank?! WHAT IS HAPPENING?

A sign in Russian in Japan?
Yea, happens now and then. -E
I was just thinking about the poor fish who may have been unfortunate enough to swim along and eat your sour stuffs - fish face for real!
Hahah
You guys get a new camera? Looks different...good different.
Nope, just setup some things differently on it. -E
It’s so weird seeing things seemingly normal. I mean here in Colorado I guess things are normal minus the mask mandate but seeing a bunch of people eat inside blows my mind lol. Most places here are outside only.
Yea, we figured it would make people feel like that depending on where they were in the world. Hope you are staying safe as possible. -E
Funny,goo germ bag 😝...kyde got busted onthe swings epic....american parking..straight right in..no ands or buts..😅..its sad that sega building 2 is closing..on aug.30 😔
I'll never understand the backing into parking spots. Especially at the mall or shops, like how are you supposed to load up your goods in the trunk with it backed up. I've seen people get in their cars to pull forward to get access to the trunk. Seems soo pointless and counterproductive.
Hahaha, good point. You know what's weird? They back into all parking spots in Japan except for at convenience stores. Hahahaha. -E
beans in the pillow?
Also looks a bit like Nicolas Cage!
