If you arm every cop in the UK you either need to greatly increase training when they’re already struggling with funding, or start handing them out to less trained individuals and sacrifice training from elsewhere in the programme like de-escalation. You need to give them more authority to use force and their gun, with less consequence if it later turns out they misused it, and they will need to start using it more often, as there's now a chance it could be taken from them if they're overpowered. It will also draw in more people looking for a power trip who just want to wave a gun around, and lose a lot of the current cops who don't want to use guns.

With respect.you misunderstand the importance of having real, fully train ed and experienced police officers available at all times. For it is they who are required to respond to the reports of your friend - yet our government affords them only admin staff, or others that are a much watered-down version of all they stand for. You also misunderstand road traffic offences such as speeding, for these serveas the thin end of a very thick wedge - and one invariably affects the response time to the other, for the same officers are spread too thinly! Speed limites exist for reasons of public safety; and above all else, the police are there to keep us all safe. Your friend's accountrs and evidence of her stolen motorbikes will remain freshin her memory for a while. The lives of those attempting to cross the road where many are speeding may not be. We have PCSO's (like pretend police but cheaper) policing on the cheap just to boost numbers.
All now boils down to much less neighbourhood policing and loss of respect for the police and I feel sorry for the many good ones trying to serve the communities they are in .

As a serving UK officer - it adds around 1 stone in weight, and NONE of it is particularly comfortable to run in, the vest grips around your shoulders and many officers suffer back problems later on in life as a result of wearing it for up to 30 years, some officers even have to have the vest changed because it causes back and spinal issues whilst they're still in the job.
Then you have a kit belt strapped around your waist, which easily gets caught on things, or gets in the way, and moves when you run... it's quite easy for your cuffs to open and fasten around a seatbelt in a car, especially if you're the driver as that's the side where your seatbelt would be - I've done this twice in my career, driven for around half an hour, gone to get out of the car and been yanked back by the right side of my hip, look down to discover the cuff has come open and then fastened around the seatbelt.
Then you have the big clunky boots, often these go up the ankle and don't flex tremendously well, so trying to run in them isn't massively far off trying to run in a pair of wellington boots.
Some uniforms fit people better than others, due to the different body shapes - if you are an "odd" shape your uniform won't fit well, for instance if you are really tall but stick thin, it won't fit well, if you are really short and quite large or "wide" it won't fit well either typically. They're made in different sizes but those sizes are based on an average profile. They can make custom fitting vests but these take a long time, I know a colleague who was so tall and just outside the average build for his height, so he had to have a custom vest made, he waited 3-4 months for it to arrive before he could even go out on shift.

    • @thefiestaguy8831
      @thefiestaguy8831 Před 3 měsíci +1

Policing is 24/7... i think you forget, you could go to work one day expecting to do a 9 hour shift, and end up doing a 15-16 hour shift. Most people I work with live an hour each way's commute from where they work. That's another 2 hours. So now you have 6 hours between shifts to do everything, and that includes sleep
During the queen's passing in 2022, I worked a 90 hour week, that was 5 18 hour shifts with literally around 5-6 hours between each shift for everything, getting back home, eating, sleeping, and then having to be back in again.
When notting hill is on, it's 17-18 hour days in a row, I did notting hill in 2018 and it was an 18 hour day the first day, didn't finish and get back to the nick until 1AM the following morning and we had to be back in work, in uniform, ready to go by 6:45AM. People finished later than I did with one chap who lived an hour way not fishing until 3AM. Yet, expected back in work less than 4 hours later and with a 1 hour commute each way. He slept in his car because there was no point in him driving home and back and having about 2 hours sleep.
I'm not sure where you think the "downtime" comes to train... it's not like the fire service where the calls for service are low, so they have a lot of time. People literally call police for anything and everything and so calls for service are naturally higher, fire brigade can often refuse to deploy to something as can the ambulance service - the buck stops with the police and rarely can we deploy to calls that really shouldn't be our calls (why does a person suffering a mental health crisis need a police officer over a paramedic???) - Yet the ambulance service regularly refuse to attend and inevitably police end up going.
Who do you think is better trained to deal with somone suffering a MH crisis? Us, or the ambulance crews? I'll give you a clue - it's definitely not us, yet we always end up deploying.
I don't think anybody's making excuses, they're stating simple facts. As a general rule if you put ten people in a race, 5 people in body armour, boots, and a kit belt around their waist, and 5 people in tracksuits and trainers you'd probably find those in tracksuits would be quicker - they aren't lumbered down by the extra 1 stone in weight from the kit.
You say about "training" but no recruit training consists of teaching fitness, they teach the core foundation, police policy, emergency life support and officer safety skills including national decision model. "Police training" doesn't include being given days to be spent in the gym.@@marknichols554

I seem to remember the cop being stuck on the fence was fake. He would have needed help to get up there, if he had climbed over it would be very hard to jump off the other side in a way that your belt would get stuck and modern police utility belts have quick release buckles. The one where he had his bike stolen seems suspicious too, as they tend to be in pairs, and not sure why he wouldn't just call for backup. Other than that, it’s just people acting like children. Sure cops may get things wrong, but if you act like an actual adult, it causes less hassle for everyone including yourself. These are the kind of shits that just make life harder for everyone around them.

the one at 7:30 does not require “evidence” per se. Police statements from witnessing officers are enough to prove offences, although in this case it looked like all they wanted to do was check that their documents are all in order which is quite reasonable. They were stopped under Section 163 of the Road Traffic Act and a lawful request for the driver to show their driving licence was made under Section 164 of the Road Traffic Act; failing to show your driving licence when requested is an offence, and if your name and address cannot be ascertained, then you can be arrested.

Joel, there are over 15k police forces in your country, with over 12k being at the local level employing over 708k personnel. There are 45 territorial and 3 specialist police forces, employing 150k personnel. Next we can say that the population of the US is circa 360m and the UK 68m. This gives a higher rough ratios of US .51 and UK .45 of police personnel to populations. Figures are available on Google search. It's not funny seeing our police officers being mocked. Perhaps you could do another CZcams comparing how the UK police service is organised and what you think as an American.

the police horse threw its female police rider. the rider was injured. it had been deliberately scared by a far left anfita mod who tried to stab the horse. i don't blame the horse for galloping away after seeing its life was in very real danger. police horses are fully trained to deal with aggressive crowds so i can only imagine the horse was so scared by the mod it had no choice to flea for its own life. the UK is slowly being torn apart by a far left political ideology both at street level in some schools, universities and also in the political scene. they wont be happy until the country crashes and burns. meanwhile everyone walks around covered in black head to tow.

I find the police react better if you are polite and listen to what they’re saying. A situation doesn’t escalate if you’re using a quiet voice instead of screaming and shouting at them from the get go. I was pulled over by an officer once because he didn’t like the way I was driving in the early hours when nobody else was on the road, I wasn’t speeding, he said I was taking the bends a little fast for his liking and apparently a brake light was out so he had the excuse to stop me. I remained calm and polite, I didn’t know about the brake light so he just gave me a warning. What I thought was ridiculous, but said nothing about it, was that another police car rolled up, for what? I had no idea. I was a lone female on my way home from the cinema and was cooperating. That was just overkill. 🤷🏻‍♀️Throughout, I remained calm and polite and didn’t get a ticket. Then bought a bulb the next day and fixed it myself.

How ever people in the uk 🇬🇧 feel about the police , there is no reason in the world , to behave like
Animals . Taking the young officers bike away from him .. and bullying him is an absolutely awful thing to do , it’s not right .. he’s just a young man , he dose not carry a firearm to protect himself with he must off been so scared . And wtf was going on with putting the officer on the fence ? With his own safety vest 🙊🙊🙊🙊… what is that kind of behaviour teaching our children? These officers our just human beings .. it’s not the officers themselves people should have a problem with , it’s the institution, and the government. I just hope the two officers our ok now
