Duddeeee her debut album, Take Me Apart is one of the best albums I’ve ever heard. Seriously, we need the reaction. The songwriting, vocals, and production are otherworldly.
Agreed, Arca produced on Take Me Apart so I see it coming.
Kelela is like Solange if she collaborated with Arca. Her music is close to FKA Twigs’ style. Her debut Take Me Apart is insanely good.
This album is a great example of “tension and release”, the production is so haunting and submersive, it’s beautiful, matches the cover art very well, one of the best of 2023!
This is arguably the most underrated artist on earth right now. Her song writing, vocals, range, technique, ear for production and melody are unmatched and she really doesn’t get the credit she deserves. Take me apart is arguably top 5 albums of all time. If you’ve ever experienced tension in a relationship, you’ll connect with it.
She is a artist artist. We would appreciate her more than non artist because we look into, we listen and we react in a emotion way to art like music not that none artist can’t get those same feels but they have to care.
To me, this album is the perfect synergy between ambience and RnB. Kelela creates SOUNDSCAPES, bringing listeners to another world/fantasy. Her lyricism and original, purposeful vocals just bring it all together for me. I'm really glad you got took the time to listen to her! She's incredibly underrated both as an artist and vocalist, as I feel her voice is reminiscent of Sade; a piercing timbre voice. You definitely need to get into Take Me Apart as Raven feels like a response to it: Take Me Apart is complex in emotions/production and lost in retrospection where Raven is almost like a freedom from the complexity, and being present in time.

not kelela related, but i truly recommend you to listen Buscabulla's debut album, Regresa. It's one of my favorite latin albums ever. They collaborated with Bad Bunny on Andrea, in case they sound familiar to you ;)
