    Hey guys! Welcome back to Jon's RC!
    Today, I decided to take my original very first 64mm EDF jet for some high-speed fun. We bought this beautiful F-15 back in 2019. She was not my very first jet. That was actually the UMX A-10. Shortly after the UMX A-10, I decided that I was ready for my first 64mm EDF. We chose this jet because another RC pilot from our flying field had this jet. When we saw this jet fly in person for the very first time, I knew that was the jet I wanted.
    This jet is definitely not for the beginner pilots. She is very fast and agile. If you are not confident on your throttle-ailerons-elevator combo at high-speeds, you can easily lose her. But, if you already have some stick time with other 4-channel planes, and looking for a challenge, then look no more!

    Nice jet Jon. I was thinking of flying mine today as well.

    This is the best first jet out there! It was my second jet, but my first store bought jet with stabilization.

      Any of the 3 Habus is a far superior first jet. Way nicer and more docile flight and stall characteristics, below 30 mph the F15 falls out of the sky while you can cruise the Habus around comfortably at just over 20 mph. They also have crazy good gliding perfomance compared to the F15 and even the little 3S Habu will reach a higher topspeed. Why so many people are recommending the F15 as "the best" first EDF really is beyond me. I think it flies like an underpowered version of bigger advanced jets with all the (for a beginner) unlikeable aerodynamical characteristics as well as horribly low elevator authority. Doesn't matter what all the sponsored channels say, there are much better options.

      @@The_Stigs_Austrian_cousin I haven’t flown the Habu. I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. The F-15 just clicks with me. I crashed the first one a few times early on in my jet flying career but with the experience I have now my 2nd one flies great. Of course the Habu wasn’t around as a jet trainer when I started but I would think the technology innovations made it easier. In terms of gliding an experimental motor I installed burned up and lost thrust right about the tree height. It managed a safe emergency landing. It maintains its energy well and isn’t too fast on landing relative to most EDFs.

      @@The_Stigs_Austrian_cousin the low elevator authrity made me crash today at my maiden flight... I love my Habus but this thing, it looks nice but that was really not a fun flight and ended in me glueing half of the plane back together... If a plane doesnt have rudder ffs at least give it enough elevator to actually be able to steer

    instead of adding more expo Jon it worked better for me to just reduce the throws mechanically on the ailerons n Elevator on the servo arm Go inside hole on the ailerons and middle hole on the elevator servos

    BNF version seems easy to fly in SAFE mode, for someone with little experience with EDF planes ....
    Say, second EDF plane, after the Habu ......
    4S Spektrum Smart battery ?
    Cheers !

    Sweet landing Jon. I haven't flown this one yet. Do you think not having rudders has no real effect on the flight? Or do you wish it had them?

    • @JonsRC
      @JonsRC  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks! Depends on the plane. On my nitro sports/3D planes, I need my rudder. On this type of plane, other than a nice coordinated turn, a rudder has no effect on flight characteristics. This is a simple yank and bank plane.

    • @JonsRC
      @JonsRC  Před 3 lety +1

      @Aditya Shaligram No. This jet does not use differential thrust.

  • @jpap1059

    Nice. Would you recommend this over the Habu as a first EDF plane?

    • @JonsRC
      @JonsRC  Před 3 lety +2

      It depends on your skill level. This F-15 requires significantly more skill to fly and land than a Habu. The Habu is geared towards your very first plane that just happens to be a jet. The Habu even has an altitude sensor on SAFE mode that prevents you from going down and crashing even if you jam the elevator stick. The F-15 is more for RC pilots who already have stick time and very comfortable on other 4-channel planes and looking for their next challenge. I also have the Habu and my newbie dad can fly it with ease. But, he won’t touch the F-15!

    I've never flown a rc plane. Would you recommend against buying this RC jet to learn how to fly an RC airplane?? Or should I consider starting out on something else??

    • @JonsRC
      @JonsRC  Před rokem +1

      This F-15 was my first jet but not my first plane. I started with a beginner small 3-channel plane. Then I moved to a 4-channel faster prop plane like the Timber UMX. Then I was able to fly this F-15.
