  • 2022 has been a pretty big year for the Volvo XC60. It received slightly updated looks, a new infotainment system and a new mild-hybrid B6 engine. This XC60 T8 also sees a few key updates.
    The big change to the 2022 XC60 T8 recharge is the larger battery and more powerful electric motor. The motor powers the rear wheels and it now produces 143 hp & 228 lb-ft of torque (88.9 kW & 309 Nm). Combined with the Turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder engine which powers the front wheels, the total output is 455 hp and 523 lb-ft of torque (282 kW & 709 Nm). This gives the Volvo XC60 T8 a 0-60 time of just 4.5 seconds. That is really fast for something that tips the scales at 2,145 kg (4,731 lbs). The electric motor provides instant torque until the gas engine reaches its optimal operating rpm range. The stigma around Volvo vehicles is that they are safe but boring or slow vehicles. Not this XC60 T8. It is deceptively fast.
    The battery is situated in the middle of the car where the driveshaft normally resides. No, there is no driveshaft underneath it. There is no physical connection between the front and rear. The battery is now 18.8 kWh in capacity, up from 11.1 kWh. This gives the XC60 T8 Extended Range an electric only driving range of 58 km (36 miles) as claimed by Volvo. In reality with cold temperatures and climate control running as it was during my time with the SUV, I noticed that it could drive for approximately 55km. Pretty close to the claimed range.
    The 2022 Volvo XC60 T8 Recharge Extended Range starts at $64,950 CAD ($58,495 USD). This demo vehicle had the Ultimate level with a few options and packages which raised the price to $92,350 CAD ($75,145 USD). Take away the Bowers & Wilkins sound system for $3,750 CAD and this XC60 T8 costs around the same as the X3 30e PHEV with the same features. But you’re getting way more power in this XC60 than the X3 30e.

    Got mine 6 months ago, didn't want to commit to full electric. The acceleration is insane. Mine has the integrate booster seat that gets a lot of use. Getting 52mpg overall, filling the tank once a month. Safety and fuel economy was my priority as this was meant to be the family car. Awd, sensors everywhere, great ground clearance, good breaking (even better in B mode). Still it has room to improve, manual AC controls, more stable over the air updates etc. ...the irony is that i was looking for a rav4 prime and got an insane price quote in the local dealer...next day i was looking at this beauty , rest is history :) Great video.... forgot to add...you can open and close the tailgate with your foot, i didn't know how handy this was until i tried, nothing new in cars but is nice this one has it, hard to live without it now.

      Out of curiosity, what was the price quote on the Rav4 Prime?

    • @Ridcul

      @@MGReviewsBlog believe it or not 60k us dollars...there is virtually no local inventory of hybrid plugins and they sell within a day of arriving. And what little arrives is not from factory but from secondary retailers in the states so the price mark up is insane. Worst, consumers are willing to pay for it.

      @Ridcul you hit the nail on the head. Dealers are part of the problem with today's prices and production but also consumers that "must" have them right now so they are willing to pay the obsurd prices.

      Is 52mpg with you charging it all the time? We are getting ours in 2 weeks and i cant wait!

      @@Stu938 belated reply, the answer is no, every other weekend i travel/stay out of town with no electric recharge option. Otherwise i would barely use gas.

    Driving one almost for a year and a half and love it. Whatever my mood, the Driving mode is there.😊

    Well done! I´m not a fan of PHEVs, but you might change my mind...

      I look at PHEVs as the best of both world. Economical around a city but cans till take long road trips without needing to plan ahead for charging. (or dealing with charger lineups or broken chargers)

    Whats the top speed of this 400++ HP?

    • @MGReviewsBlog
      @MGReviewsBlog  Před 11 měsíci

      A quick Google search says it's 180 km/h (112 mph)

    • @dbmscreen
      @dbmscreen Před 11 měsíci

      Whats the 400++ hp for if top speed is 180 only? Just for the nunbers?
      Better if they just make it 200++ hp with 500 torque.

    • @MGReviewsBlog
      @MGReviewsBlog  Před 11 měsíci

      @dbmscreen where will go at over 180 km/h? Unless you want to get the car impounded. High power like this makes for quick acceleration. All Volvo cars are limited to this speed in Volvo's pursuit of safety. They made this change not too long ago, maybe a couple years.

    • @dbmscreen
      @dbmscreen Před 11 měsíci

      Yeah thats why I said better if it is just 200hp and might be more fuel efficient if it is only 200 not 400. Other colvo cars like xc90 can go 200+ kph. All reviewers always says combined power electric and petrol that I dont understand. The torque I understand

      All current Volvos are 180 km/h limited. I understand what you're saying about the lower power but some still want that quick acceleration from a stop to highway speeds. Only more power can achieve that thrill of "being on a Rollercoaster". Either way, with this much power of the XC60 T8, I still found it very fuel efficient thanks to the long EV range.
