    In today’s video, we're upgrading our Daily Driver 320 CDI with a Holset HX 35 Billet Turbo and with our own performance exhaust manifold.     When you upgrade the HX35 into a compound setup it would be really interesting to see how you size the turbos. For example what goes into calculating the right size for hp and lp turbo and the exhaust housing choices.

    I will be running this soon and having Drew tune it. Om648, OM613 ported head, BS street cams, BS vavle springs, v8 pump, BS coupler, BS billet ring gear, BS street injectors, Bensforce xbeam rods, BF pistons, BF con rod bearings, Kings mains, 2 stage water meth kit.

    I need this setup! Then I'd get Drew at Mid-Tennessee Diesel to do an updated tune for it. Probably drive down there and get it dialed-in on a dyno.

    Great video, are you guys going to do anything to the intake manifold? I understand that head porting, cam and springs are going to be changed/done later to help with compound setup.

    Very interesting with silicone on exhaust mating surfaces, Lasse was speaking about it working well on the drift car but how is longevity and reliability on a daily car that will drive many many km and many years with same setup in all weather and hot and cold cycles? Will the silicone not burn off or get brittle and leak with time? Also don't know how good long term life is when using silicone at temperatures over 5x it's design. Ofc it's one thing if it works for short term use in a drift car and another for long term street car use. What is used between exhaust manifold and cylinder head, the original gasket or also silicone?

      I agree with you.
      If manifold flanges are machined after welding, you don't even need any gaskets they won't leak!
      If gasket blew out, flanges are problem not the gasket itself.

    I am impressed about how strong the 648 is. The newton meters are insane. Are the catalytic converter also stock? Not cutted and cleansed inside?

    Would this turbo setup work on a 270 cdi? thats the 5 cylinder. i like the 5 cylinder sound better. I guess it is the same engine just with 1 cylinder less.thx

    Hello dear Finnish friends, greetings from Spain. I have a 320cdi OM648 recently purchased and I would like to put it together decently! I love your projects and videos that's why I'm going to wait a bit for you to have the other parts like turbo grease lines, silicone intake pipe and so on... one question is it automatic 5 ratios, what modifications do I have to make to the Automatic transmission to support the increase in horsepower and torque?       kyllä niistä kohtuu samoilla osilla saa hyvin voimaa kanssa, hx35/40 superilla ja 400cdi pumpulla ja itsekasaamilla suuttimilla sain 335/550 navalta 2,4bar paineella😅

    have you tried HX 40 or other turbo on the stock fitment ? I have goal of hitting 500 hp with single turbo. Is it doable ?
    Also the bigger injectors arent they limiting you from power on the top end since they are rated for only 450 ?
    Already pre-ordered mine.

    About the fuel quantity valve modification - you removed the whole piston from the inside so it will no longer regulate and you will get maximum quantity and therefor pressure all the time now so the fuel pressure regulator on the rail will have to do all the work, correct? Is it big enough for this? Or was only the restriction hole part removed and quantity can still be regulated? Is this OK for daily street use as well as wear and tear on the pump?

      It is as you said first. Its not working anymore.Recommend to keep them in use on really high mile daily drivers.

      @turbodieselbuilds Can the fuel pressure regulator on the rail regulate all this volume and flow down to small pressure or are you stuck with higher pressures? For example - can you get down to 300 bar again?

      Yes, it can. On race car, is dual hp system, and it still can take railpressure down. But steel filter on regulator must be clean or if its dirty, then removed.@@nesmio7378

    Have you guys ever considered a turbo blowing into a supercharger for twin-charging, Gale Bank's even though I don't like his ethic's of who he does business with has a Duramax 6.6L with a supercharger and he shows when you wack the throttle the response is immediate! If you do it with a turbo then it already has a higher atmospheric pressure at the supercharger so this compounds the effect that the supercharger has it terms of how many liter's of air it can process with one revolution of the supercharger. The throttle response is insane and the low end torque right from Idle is amazing compared to compound turbo's, almost eliminates lag with the supercharger as the primary boosting device, directly related to crank rpm! Cog belt drive would eliminate any chance of belt slip, Seem's like the best way if you guys want power and response. Guys that use belt driven blowers use them mainly for the response as they feel the most like a N/A motor, the power is just there then you add the turbo and it is like a second kick in the pants and your smile gets even wider when second woosh of boost does come on! Nice builds and video's that are right to the point and not trying to look like a movie star with the snootiness and EGO as inflated as they look!

      We have tried a compound setup with a compressor. Our problem was that the compressor limited our top power too much and we never got the temperature under control, it generated crazy amounts of heat. Not saying our setup was the best possible but it seems quite hard to solve these with a compressor.

    You need a downpipe and a good exhaust Pipe from Turbo to the midle and the original end muffler can you let the original on the Car but you need some to open the original end muffler, and you get crazy Sound and more HP and realy a verygood exhaust Sound, i Had also a w210 e320 CDI with downpipe Software biger Injektions more Diesel is inportant and makes 340hp+!!!

      It depend use of engine. I think this is quite good on daily driver, good torque area. Next step is to get more power on revs for sure👏 -Lasse

      Ei ole välttämätön, mutta sitten kun nälkä kasvaa ja haluaa lisää voimaa niin voi ostaa bolt on hx55 -setin ja tehdä compound setuppi 🤌🏻

    guys i dont understand, your kaddett with 612 5 cylinder makes 360+ at wheels with the same setup and this with 1 cylinder more makes only 333? power is sure lost somewhere.

      Are you sure, you compare heavily modified om612 and stock om648? Think there might be some difference. Also the exhaust. We are going forward with this, step by step. All modifications is shown in a video.

      @@lassekalliokoski8775 i dont know even 10% of what you know about CDI im just cant understand how this big turbo give peak power at 3300 rpm and starts dying after. I think you must have blocked air filter ,blocked cat and sliping trans all at the same time
