Saturday mornings were a treat with Soccer am back in the lovejoy days. The comedy skits were tv gold.
The tears of laughter I cried were plentiful.
One of the best shows of its era. So many stupid, but great, jokes. It worked across all generations and even with non football fans.
Was a superb show. Remember being happy to get up early and watch it, didn't care I was missing a lie-in. Then off to either play football or watch my team. Peak days between 2003 and about 2006/07. Never quite the same after Lovejoy left.
Soccer am died when lovejoy left the sketches and genius of fenners as Liam gallagher and all the mancs was hilarious like the Yorkshire news was... It was must see TV or you would record it and watch it Sundays pure comedy gold and not pc like now to please the snowflakes.... Tim and Helen legends and same to all the original people who made this programme so brilliant..... Awesome show and you will never see the likes of it again
I used to actually get up at 8:45 to make sure I didn’t miss it. How many shows do you bother making an effort to watch now?
Its the show that made your weekend begin!.. specially in your late teens early 20s. The show has changed but think it had to with the change in culture.
The balance of how people consumed football was better in the 00s. Plus the football was better.
Yeh it was very much a laddish culture on the show even although Helen Chamberlain was one of the main presenters- the soccerette was funny 😁
Soccer am was the best in the lovejoy days. The comedy sketches were gold!!!

I remember watching it when it started - 2 benches with football shirt’s behind them. Later on, two rooms, and an outside area!
