Disagree on the last one. Her body helps her to twist and flip much faster than taller athletes. And although she grew up with her grandparents instead of her parents, they had MONEY. She for sure had good support growing up. That doesn’t take away from the fact that she’s the GOAT of women’s gymnastics.
She is also an incredible teammate and has the most amazing sportsmanship which is a reflection of her character. I love the example she sets, always helping others out even when competing against one another.
She did it HER way. Remember when she took time off for her mental health and people were so nasty? She said..Burn the bridge....we ride at dawn I am the ONE, in charge of my career, my health. She did NOT let public opinion, mainly, nonbipoc, sportscaster gossip dictate to her what to do. She listens to her SELF. Followed her OWN mind, her OWN heart. She did it. and then came back 100 times stronger on her OWN terms. FEARLESS. That victory dance. We can learn from her.

Ok. There is something I don’t understand, and I am not a gymnastics educated person. First, I think it’s true that Simone is the goat for gymnastics. She is still performing at the highest level and never seems to age. Here is what I don’t understand. I grew up playing football in Texas. You played, especially if you were a starter, no matter what, unless you were physically unable to play. The thing I remember about Simone is that she took that gymnastic team To the 2020 Tokyo Olympics then withdrew from 5 events clearly costing the USA the championship. I don’t think she was injured. Why did she do that!
She was dealing with the twisties as they call it in the Gymnastics world. When your mind and body are in disconnect which causes you to lose spatial awareness in the air. It prohibited her from performing twisting elements so she had to withdraw from comp and was eventually replaced by an alternate.

It just seems odd that, with all her experience and success, she would get that…then. I would understand it more if it were her first Olympics, but she was very seasoned at that time.

Ok. There is something I don’t understand, and I am not a gymnastics educated person. First, I think it’s true that Simone is the goat for gymnastics. She is still performing at the highest level and never seems to age. Here is what I don’t understand. I grew up playing football in Texas. You played, especially if you were a starter, no matter what, unless you were physically unable to play. The thing I remember about Simone is that she took that gymnastic team
To the 2020 Tokyo Olympics then withdrew from 5 events clearly costing the USA the championship. I don’t think she was injured. Why did she do that!

She was dealing with the twisties as they call it in the Gymnastics world. When your mind and body are in disconnect which causes you to lose spatial awareness in the air. It prohibited her from performing twisting elements so she had to withdraw from comp and was eventually replaced by an alternate.
@@MostHated33 Does this just happen spontaneously? Is it a nerve thing? She was, even at that time, the GOAT. She had already won everything a gymnast could win. It just seems odd that, with all her experience and success, she would get that…then. I’m certainly not saying she did this on purpose, I’m just wondering how she couldn’t understand what was going on, find a way to deal with it, and allow her team to continue to have a chance to win. I would understand it more if it were her first Olympics, but she was very seasoned at that time.
@@johncrane1894 Twisties can occur at any time randomly. When you constantly train the most difficult skills in the world that involve twisting elements you’re more prone to it. It’s unfortunate.
