    I just hate how easy it is to come up with a billion ways to make the story better

      For real though. Like why can I, a person who is just a person with no substantial proven skills like Disney employees, come up with SO MANY ways to have made it better.

      It’s usually easy for me to enjoy Disney movies for what they are, but this movie is frustrating in that there were so many possibilities that this movie could’ve taken advantage of to become better or at least more entertaining.
      I was predicting before going in that Magnifico would be a Wizard of Oz-like charlatan who connives his way to power and doesn’t actually know how to do magic but uses his vast wealth and resources as king to invest in state-of-the-art technology that his subjects believe to be the work of magic and he operates like a televangelist promising to make everyone’s dreams come true. His motivation would be to actually become a powerful sorcerer by taking the star Asha summons by force, that way no one will ever question his claim to perform magic and his right to rule. Maybe not the most original story but I think it would’ve been more fun than what we got.

      @@Moviedefender it's infinitely disappointing to be someone who has grown up with the quality Disney prides itself on only to be let down by lazy storytelling and lackluster characters. It's not spoiled to expect a film that cost multi millions of dollars to create from an established multi BILLION dollar company founded on creativity to be at least watchable.

      @@colbystearns5066 ohhhh that would've been good too!! What I was thinking based off the trailers was that he was actually NOT the villain but rather someone else was going to be. I honestly had thought that the marketing team was trying to pull one on everyone and that they were being more thoughtful than they actually were. Especially when hearing the villain song be as underwhelming as it was. I would've also enjoyed if Magnifico had slowly gotten more villainous and then it led with either some type of evil reprise or secondary villain song. But they made it so he was just blatantly the villain even though he wasn't really THAT evil up until he touched the book. He likely originally had his heart in the right place with not granting every wish. I felt as though not granting every wish for the sake of Rosas was him being cautionary, albeit eventually turning power-tripy. If anything, it was selfish for Asha to want every wish granted. It would've been neat to see him get redemption for making the mistakes. There's so many ways they could've done more with him...

      @@julikyuu I totally agree, when I was watching the movie I thought they were making him a well-intentioned leader whose heart is in the right place before descending into villainy, kind of like Darth Vader, but I didn’t think they did enough to flesh out either his light or dark sides.
      Like we didn’t see enough of what happened behind the burnt tapestry and what he wanted to prevent from happening again so we can’t really sympathize with him if we don’t know what happened to him in the past but he also doesn’t really do enough to justify being a mustache twirling villain either, like he doesn’t kill (or try to kill) anyone, place curses on anyone, lock anyone up, or anything like that. I mean he crushes the wishes but it just makes people a wee bit sad I guess? 🤷🏼‍♂️ Perhaps doing that could kill people or place them under Sleeping Beauty-like comas or something else to raise the stakes.
      I’ve also heard people say that he could’ve been a twist hero and Asha an accidental villain who learns from her mistakes by the end but I was one of the people more excited to see a classic “muhahaha” villain personally.

    Like does Disney even know the most beautiful aspects of what makes Disney anymore, like beyond just the talking animals and larger than life villains?

    • @julikyuu
      @julikyuu  Před 7 měsíci +5

      ^^ this. I feel like they just keep pumping out a very generic, very similar formula expecting for us to not get sick of it. I understand that if you choose to try something more unique, it might not hit and be a flop. But their overused forumla is ALSO not working. Plus the way they've been marketing their movies lately...that's a whole other issue tbh

    • @OpticalSorcerer
      @OpticalSorcerer Před 7 měsíci +3

      I think they're driven by the negative; growing up in the 2000s, SO MANY people I knew would bash Disney for being sexist or racist in it's films. This would explain the meta aspects of several renaissance films. TBH, "Wish" could've easily worked as a meta film, either as a parody like "Enchanted" or an irreverant comedy like "The Emperor's New Groove."

      @@julikyuuThough in the case of movies such as "Strange World"...well, Disney themselves had little faith in it as the marketing campaign was almost nonexistent (to the point where merch _was_ only available at Disney Store as well as Disney Parks). At this point, it really makes one wonder why Disney would continue to release their larger scale animated films at a time of year (meaning Thanksgiving and Christmas) when a majority of people don't go to the theater because they're spending time at home and just about everything else is closed.

    • @julikyuu
      @julikyuu  Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@AndrewsMagicandMore That's a good point! Strange World's plot was unique and it was a pretty good movie overall. But the marketing was near nonexistant like you said.
      And yea, look at Moana 2 for example. That's to be released towards the end of this year (I want to say in November?). Like what is the thought process there? Plus it's realeasing around the same time or on the same day as Wicked like??? That seems kinda dumb, buuut....

      @OpticalSorcerer Před 7 měsíci

      @@julikyuu Works out well, imo; the Anderson-Lopez team gets to work on something besides "Frozen" (which I love, but Disney should use then for more musicals outside of that franchise), it was a fairy tale, and both "Gigantic" and "Wish" were inspired by Spain, so it flows together. Plus writing issues wouldn't be as bad for "Wish" since it was a short.

    Could Pop Song inspire music could work in an animated movie? No counting license pop songs?

      I feel like it could. I know in the example i'm gonna reference it IS licensed pop songs (even if some of the songs are altered) but Trolls is a super successful movie franchise that has pop songs in it. Heck, even I'm still waiting for Trolls 3 to come out on a streaming platform so I can watch it!!
