  • 65/2073L - The birth of Jesus is a scene of awe-inspiring humility: God in human form, born in a lowly manger for our salvation. Pepper Choplin’s distinctive, folk-infused musical style is particularly well-suited to capture this story. Employing a highly-inventive mixture of mountain melodies, folk hymns, spirituals, familiar carols, and original music that is sure to surprise and delight, Go Sing It on the Mountain proclaims the good news from the prophet Isaiah’s proclamation, Comfort, O comfort my people, to the final exuberant celebration: Joy to the World! Christ is born! Solos, Duets, and Trios shine the spotlight on featured singers and nicely complement the SATB choruses.

Our choir at Vineville Baptist in Macon, Georgia performed this cantata this morning. The most applause we have had in a long time. The congregation thoroughly enjoyed it. I personally love Pepper’s music. He is one of my very favorite composers of church music.

We're doing it! Conyers First United Methodist Church, Conyers, GA, Chancel Choir and Orchestra. A well-known "celebrity voice" from the local metro-Atlanta area is already engaged to voice the narrations. This new work is superb! Introducing it to our choir at a special Christmas-in-July dinner on July 20! Thanks for this special music.

Awesome, Stephen!!! Have fun with this piece. It's certainly unique and should be a blessing to you, your choir, and the congregation at Conyers First United!
