I dont understand some of these comments. I was a hairdresser myself so I know its always better to go safe and conservative at first. Allow someone to get past the shock of going that short. With the chance to go shorter if you want to. I saw the picture of the pixie cut she wanted. That was an incredibly short style. The hairstylist was directing her away from a haircut she would definitely probably regret. Her face is round and might not have worked for her. And i can tell you that she WAS genuinely pleased by her cut. You are seeing someone who is just used to seeing herself one way and now she looks totally different. I saw nothing that spoke she was upset. She has great hair . Its also incredibly thick. All the more reason to shy away from a really short pixie. Thinner hair always does better in a pixie cut. I have a pixie that i cut myself and i have semi thick hair. And i struggle with it looking choppy sometimes, and I have to thin it to lay it down. There is more there than meets the eye in getting a haircut.
Stylist who go conservative are not worth the money. My hair was down to my bra strap and I asked my stylist for piecy pixie cut and she gave it to me. I wanted change. I asked for change. I got change. I was soooo happy
I am a professional hair stylist so to me that cut for that thick hair is a big NO her head now looks like umbrella :( She has such a beautiful hair with a wrong cut !!
Tbh, I didn't hear her say once that she liked it or anything like that. She was giggling a lot and went through her hands through her hair saying it was really short. I wouldn't be surprised, if she's going to get the pixie cut somewhere else done!😄

@@haarminnaar trust me when I say all women lie about our haircuts when we don't like them. I have thick long 5ft hair and refuse to get it cut because no one listens to what I want. Every time I have gotten it cut I hated it minus 1x & said oh I love it. I don't want to hurt their feelings. I want my hair thinned but still keep the length for the most part & I always end up with about 3ft cut off because they think they know best. It's frustrating, listen to what they want & if they don't like it it's on them.
With how thick her hair is she really needs more layers so there isn't that harsh line on the back of her head. Especially when she goes home to wash it, if she doesn't style her hair it's just going to look like a poof ball and she's going to hate it. I think she would've looked a lot better and been happier with the pixie cut she originally wanted. Usually I say listen to your stylist but in this case I agree with the client. I truly hope she got it fixed to her liking.
The top is too flat and the back sticks out too much. Just shoulder length would be nice with some lift in the front and movement! This looks like a bowl on her head or a mushroom top 😂

I think he should at least left it shoulder length. This is to drastic. This happened to me once but the gal cut it even shorter. I was devastated. It took my hair forever to grow.

You realize that she will never be able to make it look this good. It's physically impossible for you to put the same type of tension on your hair while blow drying it.
@@Jess_2025 she doesn't need to straighten her hair on a daily basis, of course. That's not essential for this look. She has very healthy, wavy hair that looks great with a bob. Add some wax and let it dry naturally.

I had this hair cut back in the 90s. Like this girl, I had very long hair to my waist and was tired of it. I went into the salon and said, "Do something". Biggest mistake ever. First she brought me a glass of wine. Then she "did something". This haircut was what I went home with. She used the brush to make the shape and left the neck like this girl's except instead of a "v" at the middle of my neck, I have a "W". Like this girl, my hair was thick, BUT very fine and wispy. It will not hold curl or shape under any circumstances, even when short, especially if there was any hint of humidity. The hair cut itself was meticulous and beautiful. I went home and hid in the bathroom, waiting for my husband to get home from work. When he walked down the hallway, I jumped out to surprise him and he screamed. I don't know if it was because I scared him or if he was shocked by my new "hairdo". Needless to say, within short order, my hair had "fallen". It would not hold that shape at all. What was a cute, stylish cut soon became an Amish bowl cut and no matter what I did to keep the poofy shape, teasing, hairspray, you name it, it would not hold. I was dismayed. I taught dance and they had not seen me with anything but long hair. When I went to teach that evening, one of the grandmothers said in front of God and everyone in the room, "Well! That's the ugliest thing I have ever seen". She wasn't wrong. I had gotten it cut short in the first place because I thought it would be easier to care for while teaching and wouldn't have to worry about long, hot hair. Pfft! This haircut turned out to be a nightmare for my type of hair and I wasn't long it letting it grow out again. So when I saw what he was giving her, it brought back bad memories of my first ever "sophisticated" hair cut. lol I hope this girl had better luck with the style than I did. I had to come back and edit. When I had my 'do like this, they didn't leave the long strings down the side of the face like this lady's cut. It was bobbed all the way around. I'm not a fan of the long strings hanging down the side of the face that you see on almost every short haircut. Not a fan of that so I'm at least happy I didn't have that to contend with that back in the day of my hair cut.

She looks like she hates it! Why do hairstylist always do that Karen cut. I got my haircut a month before my wedding last August I wanted a trim I walked out with a Karen cut! The girl I hired to do my hair for my wedding thank God did a good job making it not look like a Karen cut needless to say its now February and my hair has grown passed my shoulders and I will never step into a salon again.
Yes, they do whatever the heck they want, no matter what you tell them, explain or show them. There’s always some rare exceptions but who’s got 2 years to wait for hair to grow back and risk another “experiment”? Meanwhile, you’re the one who has to live with it, not them, so they really don’t care. So long as they get paid.
He asks “How do you feel?” and she NEVER ONCE says she likes it - in fact you can tell she does NOT like the cut at all and she shouldn’t because it’s outdated and not well executed. He had Fabulous hair to work with and the best he could come 23:59 up with given free reign was this?? You could tell she was disappointed!

I like the back the best. I don't get all the negative comments. Some of us are addicted to long hair... like me. I have always worn it long and now it is past my waist. However, I had cancer in the past and was told I would lose all my hair. So I had a professional cut a week before that. It was a fantastic cut and I loved it! A short bob, by my hair is wavy and she left curls along the nape of the neck. I loved it for a week and then gone...hahaha! I also loved being bald. It turns out variety is fun. My hair grew back and now I wear it mostly in a side braid that goes past my waist. I like it all these ways. She is young and has plenty of time to grow back long if she wants.

As a long time stylist , this is not the right cut for her ,she has beautiful thick hair and realistically not an easy maintenance. Shoulder length would be better.
I once went to a new hairdresser for a trim, a trim, not a cut once she made the initial cut I had to let go on and let her cut it short. This girl is now going to have to continue to shave her neck till her hair grows long enough. She doesn't look happy about the length in back.
She was super happy, but also a bit in shock. Not very surprising, if you're so used to wearing your hair super long. Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience!
I can imagine a senior lady in her 60's or 70's with this style. This young woman looks older than normal. She may have the hair type/volume for it, but not the age. A more age appropriate cut would serve her better. Still a good hair cut, wrong age.

I'm a barber and half bin for 40 years. I wanted to tell you I really like your technique. You section it and dry it. I do the same. It's wonderful that way and I was very impressed with everything. Your kindness. You're being slow working with her and I'm kind of like you. I don't talk a whole lot. Believe it or not I'm kind of shy but her hair looked marvelous a lot better a lot better. When a lady’s hair grown low on the neck as hers does, I think the cut needs to be long enough to cover it. She is not going to be able to keep that area nice and trimmed on her own.

The back is how we all wore it around 1990. We had to shave our necks til it grew long enough to cover it. There are so many nice bob styles trending right now that give a smooth transition and movement and I'm sorry but this would really upset me if I got it. Best bring on the stirrup tights and the shoulder pads.
The nape should be buzzed up higher so it's not showing below the bob. The way it is, it ruins the lines of the haircut. Frankly, the nape should be buzzed short up to the top of the ears so that, that cut isn't so poofy. It doesn't lay correctly as it is.

I love watching these video haircuts. The thing that worries me is everyone looks great in the hair dressers chair but try and recreate this at home. Do they still like it?
So glad I cut my own hair (layered above shoulder and frames face). I can finger comb it after a shower and it falls into place and dries nicely. This cut is not flattering to her at all and she keeps smiling to stop from crying in the shop. The length is bothering her as she is constantly trying to get it off her face!

@@haarminnaar I understand what you are saying, but... you might also be aware that customers will LIE to avoid hurting the feelings of a stylist. They can easily say one thing and feel the opposite. I faked it quite well by saying it looked nice, smiled, and left a good tip, but went home and knew I'd never let someone decide what I wanted for a hairstyle.
@@haarminnaar Unfortunately you were the only one who saw that. Many of us might have kept quiet with our nasty opinions if we had also seen her practically dancing out the door. I used to believe that everyone around me always meant what they said until I became much older and had watched how people tried to spare someone's feelings by not being completely truthful. Does my butt look good in these pants? The real answer is often no, but people will say yes anyway. Sometimes we just want to end the experience and leave on good terms. There is no point to making someone think they have not done a good job in their work. We can't make everyone happy although we try to do our best ... final result did not look anything like the picture she brought though and I would have wanted that look instead. In high school I actually wanted to become a hairdresser-stylist with my own salon and then reality hit and I knew I did not want to give people some of the idiotic styles they would ask for. I stuck to only doing family and friends for free. My son was taken to a salon by his friend when he was 10 because the friend wanted the same cut I did on my son. It was an ordinary boy's haircut with top slightly longer. Also gave my 13 year-old-daughter a treat at a salon (I had always cut her hair up to that point). We were on vacation and when she was finished and we were out of earshot, she shocked me by asking me to cut it again properly once we got back home. I think my daughter also smiled and practically danced out the door too. She certainly fooled me!
She has beautiful hair. It is not easy for a woman who is used to wearing her hair long to go to a short style, but as they say, hair grows back, and it's OK to experiment. Enjoyed the video!
A good hairstylist explaining why the hairstyle they choose wasn’t appropriate for her…you did a professional job… that’s a comfortable style that fits her and a great hangs that she wanted…its a matter of getting use to it…I’m sure she’ll have no regrets when it come to shampooing her hair.. she can now dress comfortably and look stylish 😊😊👏👏👍👍with❤️🥰

@@haarminnaar just my opinion but this is much shorter than a classic bob, it does go into bowlcut territory a bit. The weight at the back and the height of her new cut length are not the best combos for her thick hair type in a cut like this. I like this cut on some people, but me and others on this comment section feel like the end cut could've been better if it had gone a different way.
She wanted to go a lot shorter, and she was super happy with her new bob. When I asked her 5 weeks later, she was still in seventh heaven 😊 my bad for editing some of her better smiles out. These videos tend to get super long
This hairstyle/ length is not easy to manage and specifically if you are in a rush to leave the house. And when you wake up in the morning, the hair behind will be pushed up and messy. She will need a hair straightener/iron.

Going short after having long hair can be a shock and you have to consider how the new style will work with the customer's face shape and features because not all styles look good on everyone. I have definitely had some bad haircuts because the stylist thought they knew better or didn't really listen to me regarding my hair. I used to have really long hair that was extremely thick and tons of body and wave. What I didn't realize was just how curly my hair actually was because the weight of it stretched out the curl. My hair had always held curls for days ,but I had no clue just how curly it was. One stylist insisted that I needed a perm for the style I wanted and I ended up looking like a poodle. I learned how to cut my own hair after many bad experiences, but I still would occasionally let someone cut it. The last couple of stylists completely ignored me when I tried to tell them I had naturally curly hair and I got a style that had to be blown out which wasn't ideal long term. The last one had done my hair many times and the last time I arrived with it air dried and he asked if I had gotten a perm. I laughed and said no this is my natural hair. He was shocked and for the first time actually worked with my curl instead of against it.
Your story sounds painfully familiar. Most stylists don't even take the trouble to really look at your hair before you get a shampoo. And after that, they're under pressure to get your hairstyle done and move over to the next client. Nowadays, the big money is in coloring hair, because a client will have to come back every month to keep it looking good...
Same experience, hairdressers who have never met you before believe they know your hair better than you do. Same story, my long hair heavy hair pulled my curls out. Once cut it’s a case of wash and scrunch and there you have it CURLS. That’s why I now keep it long, so much easier to look after.
I just received the same thing, I can not fix it at home, I have to pay for a shampoo blow dry 3 times a week, I hate it I look so old , I wish they would learn new up dated styles,

In this case, I think the client wanted something other than what she was directed to. Personally, I think she was gorgeous with her long hair, since she was prepared to get what looked like a beautiful cut, I think he should have given her what she wanted. I think the bob is fine but I suspect, both from the look on her face after the cut, and because that particular bob will require her to brush her hair out of her face regularly, she will either come back or go to someone else to get the cut she wanted.

That's what my friend's mom said to me when I had my hair cut too short inn high school. (It looked awful for my shape face.) Not surprisingly, mom was right. lol. I cried a lot and got over it. I ended up with a cut similar to this later in life.
The cut was very nice, but personally, to go from long to very short would have left me in tears. Unless specifically asked for, I would never make such a drastic change. A shoulder length cut would have been less drastic. If she wanted to go shorter, that could be next time.
That is a great cut for her. All I noticed at first is all that hair…now I see how pretty her face is….my focus changed. Pretty amazing what a good stylist can do.

It's not surprising that she was shocked, I think. She really wanted to donate as much as possible and go short, but nothing can prepare you for how different you'll look with a new hairstyle after all these years as a long haired girl! Thank god she went home with a big smile 😊

I had this hair cut back in the 90s. Like this girl, I had very long hair to my waist and was tired of it. I went into the salon and said, "Do something". Biggest mistake ever. First she brought me a glass of wine. Then she "did something". This haircut was what I went home with. She used the brush to make the shape and left the neck like this girl's except instead of a "v" at the middle of my neck, I have a "W". Like this girl, my hair was thick, BUT very fine and wispy. It will not hold curl or shape under any circumstances, even when short, especially if there was any hint of humidity. The hair cut itself was meticulous and beautiful.
I went home and hid in the bathroom, waiting for my husband to get home from work. When he walked down the hallway, I jumped out to surprise him and he screamed. I don't know if it was because I scared him or if he was shocked by my new "hairdo". Needless to say, within short order, my hair had "fallen". It would not hold that shape at all. What was a cute, stylish cut soon became an Amish bowl cut and no matter what I did to keep the poofy shape, teasing, hairspray, you name it, it would not hold. I was dismayed.
I taught dance and they had not seen me with anything but long hair. When I went to teach that evening, one of the grandmothers said in front of God and everyone in the room, "Well! That's the ugliest thing I have ever seen". She wasn't wrong. I had gotten it cut short in the first place because I thought it would be easier to care for while teaching and wouldn't have to worry about long, hot hair. Pfft! This haircut turned out to be a nightmare for my type of hair and I wasn't long it letting it grow out again. So when I saw what he was giving her, it brought back bad memories of my first ever "sophisticated" hair cut. lol I hope this girl had better luck with the style than I did. I had to come back and edit. When I had my 'do like this, they didn't leave the long strings down the side of the face like this lady's cut. It was bobbed all the way around. I'm not a fan of the long strings hanging down the side of the face that you see on almost every short haircut. Not a fan of that so I'm at least happy I didn't have that to contend with that back in the day of my hair cut.

The girl I hired to do my hair for my wedding thank God did a good job making it not look like a Karen cut needless to say its now February and my hair has grown passed my shoulders and I will never step into a salon again.

There’s always some rare exceptions but who’s got 2 years to wait for hair to grow back and risk another “experiment”? I like the back the best. I don't get all the negative comments. Some of us are addicted to long hair... like me. I have always worn it long and now it is past my waist. However, I had cancer in the past and was told I would lose all my hair. So I had a professional cut a week before that. It was a fantastic cut and I loved it! A short bob, by my hair is wavy and she left curls along the nape of the neck. I loved it for a week and then gone...hahaha! I also loved being bald. It turns out variety is fun. My hair grew back and now I wear it mostly in a side braid that goes past my waist. I like it all these ways. She is young and has plenty of time to grow back long if she wants.

As a long time stylist , this is not the right cut for her ,she has beautiful thick hair and realistically not an easy maintenance. Shoulder length would be better.

I can imagine a senior lady in her 60's or 70's with this style. This young woman looks older than normal. She may have the hair type/volume for it, but not the age. A more age appropriate cut would serve her better. Still a good hair cut, wrong age.

The back is how we all wore it around 1990. We had to shave our necks til it grew long enough to cover it. There are so many nice bob styles trending right now that give a smooth transition and movement and I'm sorry but this would really upset me if I got it. The nape should be buzzed up higher so it's not showing below the bob. The way it is, it ruins the lines of the haircut. Frankly, the nape should be buzzed short up to the top of the ears so that, that cut isn't so poofy. It doesn't lay correctly as it is.

So glad I cut my own hair (layered above shoulder and frames face). I can finger comb it after a shower and it falls into place and dries nicely. This cut is not flattering to her at all and she keeps smiling to stop from crying in the shop. The length is bothering her as she is constantly trying to get it off her face!

@@haarminnaar I understand what you are saying, but... you might also be aware that customers will LIE to avoid hurting the feelings of a stylist. They can easily say one thing and feel the opposite. I faked it quite well by saying it looked nice, smiled, and left a good tip, but went home and knew I'd never let someone decide what I wanted for a hairstyle.

@@haarminnaar Unfortunately you were the only one who saw that. Many of us might have kept quiet with our nasty opinions if we had also seen her practically dancing out the door. I used to believe that everyone around me always meant what they said until I became much older and had watched how people tried to spare someone's feelings by not being completely truthful. Does my butt look good in these pants? The real answer is often no, but people will say yes anyway.
Sometimes we just want to end the experience and leave on good terms. There is no point to making someone think they have not done a good job in their work. We can't make everyone happy although we try to do our best ... final result did not look anything like the picture she brought though and I would have wanted that look instead.
In high school I actually wanted to become a hairdresser-stylist with my own salon and then reality hit and I knew I did not want to give people some of the idiotic styles they would ask for. I stuck to only doing family and friends for free. My son was taken to a salon by his friend when he was 10 because the friend wanted the same cut I did on my son. It was an ordinary boy's haircut with top slightly longer. Also gave my 13 year-old-daughter a treat at a salon (I had always cut her hair up to that point). We were on vacation and when she was finished and we were out of earshot, she shocked me by asking me to cut it again properly once we got back home. I think my daughter also smiled and practically danced out the door too. She certainly fooled me!
She has beautiful hair. It is not easy for a woman who is used to wearing her hair long to go to a short style, but as they say, hair grows back, and it's OK to experiment. Enjoyed the video!

A good hairstylist explaining why the hairstyle they choose wasn’t appropriate for her…you did a professional job… that’s a comfortable style that fits her and a great hangs that she wanted…its a matter of getting use to it…I’m sure she’ll have no regrets when it come to shampooing her hair.. she can now dress comfortably and look stylish 😊😊👏👏👍👍with❤️🥰

The weight at the back and the height of her new cut length are not the best combos for her thick hair type in a cut like this. Going short after having long hair can be a shock and you have to consider how the new style will work with the customer's face shape and features because not all styles look good on everyone. I have definitely had some bad haircuts because the stylist thought they knew better or didn't really listen to me regarding my hair. I used to have really long hair that was extremely thick and tons of body and wave. What I didn't realize was just how curly my hair actually was because the weight of it stretched out the curl. My hair had always held curls for days ,but I had no clue just how curly it was. One stylist insisted that I needed a perm for the style I wanted and I ended up looking like a poodle. I learned how to cut my own hair after many bad experiences, but I still would occasionally let someone cut it. The last couple of stylists completely ignored me when I tried to tell them I had naturally curly hair and I got a style that had to be blown out which wasn't ideal long term. The last one had done my hair many times and the last time I arrived with it air dried and he asked if I had gotten a perm. I laughed and said no this is my natural hair. He was shocked and for the first time actually worked with my curl instead of against it.

Most stylists don't even take the trouble to really look at your hair before you get a shampoo. And after that, they're under pressure to get your hairstyle done and move over to the next client.
Nowadays, the big money is in coloring hair, because a client will have to come back every month to keep it looking good...
Same experience, hairdressers who have never met you before believe they know your hair better than you do. Same story, my long hair heavy hair pulled my curls out. Once cut it’s a case of wash and scrunch and there you have it CURLS. That’s why I now keep it long, so much easier to look after.

I just received the same thing, I can not fix it at home, I have to pay for a shampoo blow dry 3 times a week, I hate it I look so old , I wish they would learn new up dated styles,
That sounds odd. You got a short bob that you can't style on your own? What happens when you let it dry naturally?

In this case, I think the client wanted something other than what she was directed to. Personally, I think she was gorgeous with her long hair, since she was prepared to get what looked like a beautiful cut, I think he should have given her what she wanted. I think the bob is fine but I suspect, both from the look on her face after the cut, and because that particular bob will require her to brush her hair out of her face regularly, she will either come back or go to someone else to get the cut she wanted.
That's a lot of assumptions, but it's possible. Except for the fact that she was still super happy with her bob months after this makeover 😉

That's what my friend's mom said to me when I had my hair cut too short inn high school. (It looked awful for my shape face.) Not surprisingly, mom was right. lol. I cried a lot and got over it. I ended up with a cut similar to this later in life.

The cut was very nice, but personally, to go from long to very short would have left me in tears. Unless specifically asked for, I would never make such a drastic change. A shoulder length cut would have been less drastic. If she wanted to go shorter, that could be next time.
Her big motivation was to donate as much hair as possible 😅

She seemed real shocked. The hair cut was beautiful but she was inspected to look somehow differently on her. I think she looks beautiful with long or short hair.
It's not surprising that she was shocked, I think. She really wanted to donate as much as possible and go short, but nothing can prepare you for how different you'll look with a new hairstyle after all these years as a long haired girl! Thank god she went home with a big smile 😊
