    My mother drove from Suffolk to Cornwall in one of these, in 1960 too. They were actually very good cars, my mother’s was gunmetal grey. No motorways in those days so we used the A303, and I remember well my first sight of Stonehenge. Actually, I saw a beautiful blue on near my home in Norfolk the other day, I was delighted and impressed by how smart the car was. Well do I remember washing my mother’s car and checking it’s oil and water every week; oh, it never went wrong. Thanks for the superb review.

    I had one of these about 15 years ago but sadly it was destroyed by fire. They do have quite a modern feel, they were intended as the replacement for the Morris Minor but then BMC realised that it didn't need to be replaced!

    Hate to correct you Danny but the car is a RILEY 1.5. Other a Wolsley

      Hi Richard…..apologises I thought I referred to the car as a Riley 1.5, not a Wolseley 1500 in the video. I do mix them up rather a lot however!

    Grommets in the doors?...this vehicle would have had wing mirrors...now there is no mirrors at all...why ?

    • @bradleyjamesclassics
      @bradleyjamesclassics  Před 5 lety +3

      Paul Evans the previous owner was blind and didn’t require mirrors....

      @@bradleyjamesclassics I think you will find con & use regs require two rear facing mirrors even for a car of this vintage?

    • @bradleyjamesclassics
      @bradleyjamesclassics  Před 4 lety

      steve williams - I don’t this is a legal requirement. However the car has ‘clip on’ rear view mirror on the door frame now

      It would have had wing mirrors and also lettering on the front wings (I have the same year and colour - leaf green).

    Why they put a Minor rear axle in with a 1500 cc engine, I don't know, 3.72 diff eased the strain a bit but I managed to destroy 2 rear axles, [Parts man said minor and major axles had different part number, but I don't believe it]

    • @jeffmee763
      @jeffmee763 Před 3 lety

      Yes they did the half shafts were stronger than the Morris minors but diff were the same used to but minor 1000 diff in as there was more about to destroy the pinion gear that is what my 1902cc MGB Engine did to them.

    • @adoreslaurel
      @adoreslaurel Před 3 lety

      @@jeffmee763 Wow, you put an MGB engine into Morris Minor?, but I guess the MGB axle set up was too wide to clear the guards.

    • @jeffmee763
      @jeffmee763 Před 3 lety

      @@adoreslaurel No I put a MGB Engine in a Riley 1.5 I broke the half shafts a few times and a couple a Differentials. The Morris minor half shafts fit in to the Riley ok and the diffs go in put the half shafts are weaker then the Rileys ones and break so use half shafts from Wolsey 1500 or Riley 1.5 in a Morris minor and they will lost longer that is why the difference in part numbers it's for the stronger shafts hope it helps you. Jeff

      @@jeffmee763 Thanks for that, unfortunately it is now a history lesson from my youth, I had a Mk 1 MGB for 10 years from 72 to 82, however I drove a cousins late model Healy Sprite back in 83 and enjoyed it more than the "B". Just felt nicer.
