    the foot part where they replaced it with a ball joint will be the major reason why people would buy these metal parts. that C joint is notorious for breaking fast.

    POM is one of the stronger plastics available and is usually used for the more fragile parts in Kotobukia kits like Megami Device shoulder and wrist joints. Bandai doesn't seem to use it much though.

      I bought this kit twice and both tines the foot clips stressed, causing the toes to become floppy.

    • @TheVanillaQueen
      @TheVanillaQueen Před 3 lety +2

      It's only really an issue if you're not gentle with it to be honest. The way the c-clips are designed they're not supposed to go up very far. You could probably make a modification to cut the little bit of plastic off to avoid that.
      Ball joints are typically far less stable and don't stay in one position as easy so that's one of the thing I myself wouldn't switch out.
      I've put together two Barbatos kits now and I repose both fairly frequently. No stress marks, no breaks.

  • @jeff3221
    @jeff3221 Před 3 lety +17

    The only weakness in the frame is the hip joint. One of mine cracked and I think it's fine after some cement but they're pretty thin for something that has to support the entire leg. Why, for all of Bandai's expertise, can they not make good hip joints on master grades? Like the seed frame and now the ibo gundam frame are prime examples. The funny thing is, Barbatos doesn't even get much extra movement from its sliding hips. I'd rather have fixed hips if it's not gonna be solid

    I need to get this. I was so disappointed by the C connector on the ankle, i'm happy to see someone thought about re-designing it.
    I moved the kit after a a while since building it, and that ankle got a stress mark from bending the foot. Now it's all loose and wobbly, and it's hard to re tighten that C shaped connection.
    As good as the inner frame on this kit is, there's some very weak design flaws that can leave parts loose. Bandai got so close to getting it perfect.

    • @darklight0528
      @darklight0528 Před 10 měsíci

      I am too, I just got the kit recently, and actually the C-clip that connects to the ankle was loose, and I tried tightening it up with super glue (context: I have never needed to use super glue until now) and while attempting to fix it, that small foot joint (specially part c3) snapped so rn I'm kinda sad so I hope this will overall help? Who knows

    Changing the C-clip of the foot is redundant, because the foot itself already rotates together with the heel, and turning it into a ball joint means the front foot can be unaligned from the heel. They only needed to make it a metal C-clip, since the original plastic part is prone to damage such as warping.

    I ordered these, I actually ended up breaking my original knee joint because I painted them and I suppose I didn’t remove enough paint around the moving area.
    @ZakuAurelius My question is can I paint the metal parts because I’d like to add gold and silver to some areas. Is there a different way to go about painting it from plastic or would it be the same method? Same for the clear coat.

    • @ZakuAurelius
      @ZakuAurelius  Před 3 lety +1

      Hmm yes basically the same method I think. Maybe try a metal primer if you can get some. I’m not sure it’ll work tbh. Sanding the metal parts may help as well. The trick will just be getting the paint to stick well and not scratch off easily

    My issue is that the MG Barbatose is too lite and feels to fragile.
    As I built the torso, head and arms I quickly blerted out without thinking "Kay I feel like I'm gonna break this D@*N thing"
    And believe it or not I sure did.
    After finishing the build I went to put it in it's box and dropped it from 2.7 feet onto the carpet floor where I'd just built it and two many parts broke.
    Before that MG kit I'd last built the MG RX-93 which was awesome as was also completed July 12th of 2013.
    I than days after I broke the MG Barbatose I actually bought the MGEX unicorn and broke the LED sheet I'll never buy another Master Grade ever again.
    They are way to lite and made from trash plastic.
