    Excellent job comparing these two sport jets. I’ve seen both fly and never thought the Eflite Viper would have that much left in the tank so
    to speak. I’m impressed with that alone. Nevertheless. You can’t go wrong with having either jet. Thanks for sharing this with us. Take care, Brad.

    Very nice flying and comparison. Paying that amount BNF is not too bad. At the end for the avanti you still need to get a receiver for it. I myself bought the Avanti and still had to spend a nice penny for a receiver. In my case it was a $130 difference at the end to purchase it flying ready compared to the Viper. This is my 2nd Avanti. Will look into Viper in the future.

    • @BDTennessee

      Thanks for the feedback randy! Totally agree. Cost after receiver gets close to BNF viper price. Once you have them both you will enjoy them in different ways so its worth it. I have a link in description if you decide to get one.Thanks...

    My buddy and I flew these at the same time. He flew his Avanti and I flew my Viper. The Avanti has quicker acceleration but top speed definitely goes to the Viper...even with mine having a 6200 pack and his having a 5000. Both are very capable and pretty equal in aerobatic maneuvers but as far as power definitely goes to the Viper 90 (like you found).
    I typically fly my Viper with 6000 packs and a 5 min timer and always land with at least 40% or more remaining. In the Viper you're typically at 1/2 throttle unless you want a speed run or going max vertical.

    Great review Jeff. I have both jets and have not flown my Avanti after flying the Viper. The new tech that comes with the viper, along with its flying characteristics, great surface hinging, vast fuselage space have won me over. Not to mention the performance advantage.

    I know this an Avanti/Viper comp, but in your experience how would you compare the Viper 90mm to the FMS FUTURA 80mm, as far as flight characteristics?

    • @BDTennessee
      @BDTennessee  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Viper more power,thrust and top end. Aggressive flying characteristics. Handles much bigger battery and weight easier. Crosswinds i feel is more challenging...
      Futura more docile, lighter flying and compact. Cheaper to operate (battery size). Heavier winds is more challenging. Wheelie machine too..

    BD, the only problem I have with your comparison is that you didn't use the exact same battery in both planes. There's already a lot of variables just in how one flight was flown compared to any other flight. Now you've added completely different batteries into the mix. There's no way you make any meaningful comparison. I have been doing careful analysis of my batteries and so far have found that SMART batteries are pretty generally UNDER rated. They have more in the tank than shows on the label. I have software that uses telemetry data to calculate exactly how many mAh's have been pulled from the battery during the flight. And that is compared with the % left after the flight. I see a significant difference from one battery to another. So you should have used 2 identical batteries in both flights or, better yet, the same battery recharged and moved to the other plane.
    I fly a FW Avanti, btw, and I'm looking closely at the eFlite Viper 90 for a good scale jet. So I watched this video with interest. From what I've seen the Viper is 50% more expensive but a cut above in quality of construction. But Freewing has just upgraded the Avanti with a new more efficient motor and some improvements in quality and kept the price the same. Regardless, seems like the bottom line is that you pay more for the Viper but you get more. But both planes seem to be excellent flyers. I know the Avanti is.

    • @BDTennessee
      @BDTennessee  Před rokem

      Appreciate your feedback...
      I used the battery that most would probably use in them.Eflite more use Smart battery and other brands a variety of different ones. (Side note: based upon RCG testing Spektrum hold less, which is a test to efficiency for Viper)Yes i could have used the same battery and thought about doing so as well.However a 50-75 gram difference some pilots will notice and most/average flyers wont.Same could be said for using a different battery than me using one single one for both (Exmaple CNHL vs HRB ,Zee,Roaring Top etc).Another aspect is another pilot uses a battery 100 grams lighter or heavier so that plane will fly different too. I agree i noticed weight differences but when talking and showing the differences the different in weight wont show on camera but you can feel it.That being said both planes can handle the weights. Comparison was done close enough to the feedback and opinion i formed from flying both these jets numerous times.So at the end of the day were splitting hairs on a battery variable.
      Yes Viper is more but also when you figure a AR637T to get a comparable RX to Viper you compare total cost of 515 to 649.Price gap is even closer. I have the new Avanti v2 which i have done the maiden and some extra flights . So i have a more direct comparison to Avanti v2 and Viper 90. Still a performance gap.Viper is harder to get parts and typically more expensive.
