TOYAMA TRAVEL GUIDE ⛩️🍜 | 17 Things to do in TOYAMA, Japan
Our adventure in Toyama, nestled in the heart of Japan's Toyama Prefecture, turned out to be the hidden gem of our trip - a delightful surprise that we stumbled upon quite unintentionally. We had added Toyama to our itinerary as a mere stopover, without much thought or expectation. Yet, from the moment we stepped into this captivating city, Toyama embraced us with its charm, making us wonder why we hadn't heard more about it before.
Let me take you through our journey in Toyama, a city that quickly won our hearts. Imagine gliding down the Matsukawa River, where each bend reveals a new vista, or savoring the depth of flavor in Toyama's Black Ramen and the delicate sweetness of Glass Shrimp. Our guide doesn't stop there; we ventured out to Iwasehama, a quaint port and beach town, adding a refreshing coastal twist to our exploration.
Our tale begins with the majestic Toyama Castle, its history seeping through the ancient walls. We wandered around Toyama Castle Ruin Park, each step taking us back in time. The Matsukawa River Pleasure Boat offered us a serene escape, floating past scenes that seemed painted just for us. And oh, the culinary delights! A medicinal meal at Ikedaya Yasubei Shoten introduced us to healing flavors, while the Toyama Glass Art Museum dazzled us with its creative spark.
We didn't just eat and gaze at beauty; we soaked in culture at the Matsukawa Chaya Tea House and meandered through a Sculpture Walk by the river. The view from the Toyama City Hall Observation Tower took our breath away, offering a bird's eye view of this stunning city. A day trip to Iwasehama whispered tales of the sea, and dining on Glass Shrimp felt like a luxurious treat.
We also marveled at the Baba Family House and sought blessings at the Hie Shrine. The Toyama Black Ramen was a revelation, and Masu Zushi Toyama Trout Sushi a taste of heaven. Our journey wrapped up at Kansui Park, leaving us in awe of Toyama's understated beauty and rich heritage.
Toyama, with its perfect blend of natural beauty, culinary wonders, and a dash of history, left an indelible mark on our hearts. It's a city that beckons quietly but enchants deeply. Join us as we recount the top things to do in Toyama, Japan - a city that's much more than just a stopover, it's a destination in its own right.

Greetings from Japan 🇯🇵. foreigner usually visit major cities such as Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, however you were exploring all over the Japan, which attract even Japanese people😊. As I see your video, I would like to travel more my country. Arigatou❤.

Thank you! We did the classic Golden Triangle (Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka) on our first trip to Japan, but we quickly realized we prefer the rural and lesser known places. We decided to prioritize smaller destinations on this trip and loved it! I also hope you get to see more of your own country. 😊

Thanks for visiting my home prefecture! I'm glad you enjoyed your stay here. I know you couldn't possibly catch everything--Kurobe Dam, the hot springs at Unazuki, the beauty of the Tonami plain and the woodcarving town of Inami... etc. But too bad you missed my part of the prefecture--the fishing town of Shinminato, right on Toyama Bay and one of the richest fishing grounds in all of Japan. The 2-km-long Uchikawa river runs from one end of town to the other, and permanently 'parked' at Kaiwomaru Park is the magnificent Kaiomaru sailing vessel.
Oh, and I just happen to own Bridge Bar, the only authentic bar in Shinminato, located in an 80-year-old renovated house right alongside the Uchikawa (just about midpoint), with a menu that includes over 80 varieties of American bourbons and rye whiskeys. Tell your friends!😅👋

This video, without a doubt, reminds me of the great time I had last December in Japan. Samuel and Audrey are totally in tune with Japan's hidden gem, and it's definitely off the beaten path. I am curious when you said the weather can't be like this where we come from. Where is it? Again, I would not hesitate to subscribe to your channel, comment, and share my thoughts. Thank you for putting out such a memorable film for everyone to enjoy.

What a gem Toyama is. We had that same experience. You guys went in October. We went in May, a lot more crowded. Nevertheless, it had that perfect balance between that peaceful, relaxed vibe and many things to do that a small city offers ,museums , nice walking paths, etc. And of course, great food. You guys covered a lot of ground. A great choice guys!
Hope you all are doing well. Sending you hugs🫂 and Kisses💋 from Richmond, Va. Harriet, Jim and Yuki

We used it as our starting point to do the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route across the Japanese Alps - that'll be the next video! We're so glad we gave this place a few days of our time. I hope you're both doing well. Sending you greetings! 😊

That library looks really great! Combining wood and books never fails, maybe because paper is made from wood. I guess we could say they are some kind of distant relatives. :D Joking aside, the library's amazing. Speaking of libraries, 15 years ago, I met one person at a library, and the person's face, stature and, interestingly enough, fashion style are similar to Audrey's.

From Toyoma, its easy to go to Kurobe gorge , Kurobe alpine route to see the snow walls , Kanazawa n Takayama also. Shirakawago n Shin Hotaka japanese alps is easily accessible by Nohi bus from Toyoma or Takayama too.

Toyama surprised my wife and I in a very positive way as well. In addition to the wonderful seafood folks might consider sampling the excellent local sake as well. Just outside the city is famous Kurobe Gorge. We liked it, but the train ride up the gorge is on the pricey side. The Kurobe area has plenty of hot springs.

We just had very high expectations after hearing other travel vloggers rave about the place, but we found it to be very touristy and crowded.
