I was so sad when I heard he passed away. I had just recently seen the Monkees in concert in their reunion tour.

Davy was down to Earth. There was no intent to look down on anyone else. I was born and lived within one mile of where he was raised. I didn't know Davy as I was too young, born late 1950's. He had great human and empathic qualities. A friendly Northerner. Raised by loving parents. Very talented.

He was such a large part of OUR lives... and when he died... I think a little part of each of us was gone as well. Is this what life ever after is all about? Isnt this how we live on forever? In other peoples memories? When the world and all her memories of me are gone?

      I can.
Sorry but he was always so full of himself.
He actually said he could’ve been Bowie too- he just chose not too- that he was nothing special. 😂
I think he was already delusional here...delusion-ally arrogant too.
Back in 1988 we were the ‘younger kids’ back then- and most only learned about them because we only had a handful of channels to watch, and one of the off stations chose to play the Monkees reruns. It wasn’t as if we had much of a choice.
Tho I did remember being quite p’d off as a kid in the 70’s when they stuck a dumb monkees episode in between my cartoons. I’d have to go do something else until Tom and Jerry came back on.
And to Davy’s self absorbed assumption about being just as big as Bowie?
Most kids don’t even know who ‘Davy Jones’ is today- let alone the Monkees-
Tho most all know who Bowie is❤️
