- As a highly paid New York attorney, Luke Simone was living his best life. He enjoyed all of the high-end fashion, food and experiences that the City had to offer. He had everything that he wanted, but it left him feeling empty. When the financial crisis hit, Luke made a simple phone call that changed his life forever.

Amazing! Luke is one of the most incredible liders I had the honor to meet. I volunteer at Casa Cruzeiro for only two days and I felt the joy, serving and the community organization of this place. What an honor to met these guys and be able to be a small piece of this story. It does feel a little 2008ish with all of the things that are going on in the world and in America. I could relate. Hopefully people will come out of this crisis, like Luke did, with a greater since of purpose and a sharper ear to hear God's voice.

Yes, that phrase sticks in my head as well. I think especially in the West, it's so easy to get caught up in pursuing comfort and it's easy to be distracted by material things. It often takes God mixing things up in our life to get our attention off of ourselves and onto Him. The people around us are dear to Jesus. I pray that we can see them as he does.
