Both of my babies have had clogged tear ducts also and my newest 7 week old has one in one eye also :( the good thing is they do usually clear up on their own...i hate that it bothers them though like you said. Also my breastfed babies have all taken mams and love them!:)

The binkies that are shipped like that avent one are the best for their jaw and suck because they can wrap their tounge around it (like a taco) when they suck. So if you try different types I would still go with a similar shape to that one. The ones that are flat on the bottom of the nipple are terrible for teaching a productive suck swallow reflex, so stay away from those! Our baby had to do feeding therapy for 3.5 months, and this is all advice from our speech language pathologist. Binkies are actually a great tool to aid digestion after they've fed from breast or bottle, it sends signals to their tummy to keep working 💪🏻
My mum never used any soothers or "dummies" as we call them. She said she always found that nothing at all worked just fine, luckily both my brother and I weren't fussy babies and took to that just fine. You could always try not using anything and if he protests then give him one that you're using at the moment
