The intentional safety is my favorite play in all of football. Billy Napier is a big intentional safety guy and I respect that

@@TheRayOfBlue I'm just glad we threw the ball down field. We wouldn't have done that last year or earlier in the season. Against South Carolina, you have to throw the ball on their DBs. I'm a big analytics guy and it drove me insane when we would consistently run into 9 man boxes over and over again.

you guys definitely a fun fan base to troll. Florida and Miami. Granted you guys are alot better than them. USC (the real one in Cali), Oregon, Notre Dame, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas all fun teams to troll as well. Combination of these teams passionate fans knee jerk reactions and overexpectations in most seasons. That said I started the year trolling Florida for Utah but I knew you guys would beat overrated Tenn. HOPING BADLY you can be the ones to humble Georgia arrogant fans as they are still good but not the unbeatable obvious #1 team they were the last couple seasons. If you guys can't do we have to hope for SEC champ or playoffs because their schedule so weak this year. I really think Florida can do it though.

I cannot believe some national types had Mertz rated as the worst SEC QB coming into the season. He is quickly silencing all the doubters. He takes care of the ball, completes a high percentage of his passes, and showed in this game that he can play clutch football. I'm excited for him to return next season.
He’s a really consistent QB but he’s just gotta work on his arm strength. He consistently under throws on deep shots. Even though I don’t know if he’ll have a shot at the NFL, he seems to be the type of consistent player that NFL teams look for in a backup QB.
He was horrible at Wisconsin last year
you can't believe it? Mertz was one of the most volatile QBs in CFB at Wisconsin. he was the weak spot in an otherwise solid offense.
and unfortunately, unless he is granted a sixth year, he's gone next season. DJ Lagway will likely be the guy for FL next year.

@@nathan.d.c He wasn't the weak spot at Wisconsin. Paul Chryst was absolute garbage at developing QB's and misused him. Metrz is now the 3rd straight QB from Wisconsin that transferred to another school and flourished elsewhere(Jack Coan, Notre Dame, Alex Hornibrook, FSU, and now Mertz). It is clear that Chryst is a QB killer.
Mertz is now in a system with a coach who actually tailors it to his abilities. Paul Chryst was unwilling to be flexible and was going to force Mertz to play QB his way no matter what. Chryst was the problem, not Mertz.
This is why 100% I hate being a South Carolina fan and hate how our teams seem to do anything and everything to shoot theirselves in the foot.

What on Earth happened in the 12 seconds between the last interception and 4th & 29? There were only 20 seconds left on the clock when they picked it off.
SC had 3 timeouts to burn and UF sat on it for 3 snaps until the intentional safety

It was 4th and 29 near their own end zone with seconds left on the clock, up by 4.
It’s smarter to have your QB waste time, potentially run out the clock, give up 2, and kick off. Instead of punting from your own endzone. Anything could go wrong on the punt. A bad kick, a bad snap, a fumble, the defense blocks it, it gets returned for a touchdown, etc. Even a good punt would likely leave South Carolina in Hail Mary range.
A kick off is more controlled. The only possibility is South Carolina miraculously plays the lateral game and takes it, or an unlikely kick off return. And if SC scores a touchdown in any scenario, it doesn’t matter if it was a 4 point lead or 2.
This was a good call and is used fairly often given the circumstances.
