    "Downtown Tango"" by Rick Hirsch is a soulful tango for sure! A very effective chart with an auxiliary percussion part with castanets for authentic tango flavor. This sounds like “Tonight, We Tango” a piece my jazz band played, but easier. I was able to predcit the song, and it has a lot less rhythmic flair, specially in the sax section.

    Does no-one else pick up that the bari sax is playing the intro wrong? The second note isn't being played on the third beat. Trom 3 & 4 + bass guitar come in with the same thing and play it right at bars 18 - 25

      Jordan Mead What happens with alot of the scores on youtube is they show the score but they play it with their own style, keeping in mind ornamentation, but this also occurs in others sections such as the tenor sax solo which is completely different than what is played

    • @xNukedApplez
      @xNukedApplez Před 5 lety +2

      A solo is a solo, it’s up to the player wether they want to improvise or not being given the opportunity to do so of course. However with the baritone it’s just a case of mis-reading

    • @rickhirsch4330
      @rickhirsch4330 Před 4 lety +4

      Yes, the bari player mis-read the figure. By the time this I heard the recording they were unable to fix it. At least when he plays it wrong, he plays it strong!
