Circuit Superstars Online Races #40

  • No commentary - Here's a couple more of my better or more interesting Circuit Superstar races I've done recently. The game is still in Early Access and it has lag issues sometimes which can make it hard to control your car. Outside of peak times it can be hard to find online races with a decent amount of people. I think depending on where you live this can be more or less of an issue, even during peak times. I think it's a fun game though.

    Hope to see you play this again! One year later and the game is still going strong... soon to be released on Switch, as well. Look forward to hopefully seeing you on track!

      Hey, glad to see people are still checking out some of those older races. I might play again, maybe when it gets released on Switch might be a good time to do some races.

    Haha such a cute little game,.. with more real and clean racing then you see in f1 lobby's or other racing games nowadays ;) Where did we go wrong?!

      Hey man, yeah the racing can be pretty clean in this game. I think it helps that a lot of the good players are on the official Discord and players tend to chat a bit after the races. There's a lot of players that like clean racing and try to promote clean racing. So players will sometimes tell other players that they felt the move the other player done was unfair or dirty. Or sometimes they apologise for doing an unfair move or they will ask if the other player felt the move was unfair. I think it's a pretty good community in general. With other bigger racing games you can't really talk with people after the race and you might never see the person you race with again so there's often not much incentive for players to try and driver cleanly, especially when people around them aren't.

    Race 1:
    Qualifying was tight here, I got a little hit from behind on the first lap which gave me a little bit of damage, other than that I was pretty cautious and gained a couple of places. PandaJJ1 made a mistake on lap 5 and I passed him too. The race looked like a 2 stop race but looking at my fuel consumption as the race went on, I thought I'd be able to 1 stop it. So I pitted after 8 laps and I planned on fuel saving the second half of the race so I could do 9 laps. I had 4 units of fuel left at the end of 8 laps so I didn't think I'd need to fuel save that much to extend my stint to 9 laps. One thing that messed me up a bit during the second stint was that I thought that the car behind me was TonyJJ2 as the colour scheme seemed close enough to the one next to his name and they were pretty fast. So I thought I was racing them for track position and I was using a bit more fuel than I wanted to try and keep them behind me. It's only when they got close enough to touch me that I saw that they were a ghost and I wasn't racing them for position. I think I would have done a better job fuel saving if I knew that TonyJJ2 was actually pretty far behind me, and not run out of fuel on the last corner as a result.
    Race 2:
    Qualifying wasn't as close here, the top 2 players were a bit faster than me and my rival for the race was nochance who qualified pretty close to my time. Nochance stayed pretty close to me for the first part of the race, he then pitted a lap earlier than me and went for an undercut. I pitted at the halfway point and nochance came out ahead of me by quite a big distance which was a bit surprising. I had the better tires for the rest of the race and I slowly caught back up to him and put pressure on him. On the first corner of the last lap his bad tires, and probably also the pressure, caused him to run wide on the exit and lose a lot of speed and I was able to pass him and finish 3rd.

      Aez, where you describe the guy coming up behind pretty fast on the first race, yeah, that was me. Apologies, I got screwed with lag on first lap and being hit, lag made my car steer right instead of left. I pulled over to let someone pass as I screwed them up with the lag. Had that first lap been different, I think we might have had a good battle.

      @@roynluc Ah that's fine, I know how annoying the post collision lag is. I'm always worried it makes me look like I'm a dirtier driver than I am when I just can't control my car for a bit. It's all good 👍

    Any easier to find games now with Xbox players?

    • @Aezwozere
      @Aezwozere  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah, definitely easier atm. There's a lot more people playing it on Steam and streaming it atm as well, peak players of 221 so far this month on Steam when it hasn't been over 100 for the previous 4 months. I guess there's been a recent marketing push along with the Xbox release. Not sure how long that surge of players will last but the playerbase is thriving currently and the extra Xbox players should have a long term positive impact on the playerbase.

    How is the online community now? I am wondering if getting it on steam or not

    • @Aezwozere
      @Aezwozere  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey, so I basically only play it when I see people on Discord talking about races and lobbies being open and stuff or if I see a someone streaming online on Twitch and there's plenty of people in a lobby. I don't really know how easy it is to find a game if I haven't made sure people are playing online as I haven't tried to that for a long time. When I do try to play there's often multiple lobbies going though and average players is close to an all time high according to Steam Charts atm (steamcharts.com/app/1097130) so I think the online community is pretty active currently and finding online races probably isn't too hard atm. But I'd imagine you'd probably still have to wait until the European evenings and nights to get decent sized lobbies as that's when it's most active.

      I'm actually driving the car here as are the rest of the online players. You can race against computer players offline but I don't think the game lets you sim races. I use keyboard but lots of players use controllers especially the console players.

      Hmm I just tried playing an online match (for the first time in months) on Circuit Superstars on Steam and online races worked for me. You're best bet is probably going to the Discord discord.gg/cFutMaWe and trying to get help there from support. Best of luck
