Cruel & Unusual Punishment: Prison Guard Resigns After ‘Immoral, Dangerous’ Trans Policies (Ep. 3)

- At the peak of his career as a correctional lieutenant inside the California prison system, Hector Bravo Ferrel couldn’t take anymore. Things became dangerous and unethical, he said, after the state passed SB 132, a law that required prison guards to transfer convicts from the men’s prison to the women’s prisons. The law also allowed male inmates who identify as women to demand they be searched-in the nude-by female prison staff.
Ferrel walked away from his stable, lucrative career to blow the whistle on “backwards” policies inside the correctional world that he says put female prison staff and inmates at risk.
In IWF’s new documentary mini-series, Cruel & Unusual Punishment: The Male Takeover of Female Prisons, current and formerly incarcerated women, along with insiders from the correctional world, are bravely sharing the fallout of policies that allow male offenders-including convicted sex offenders-to declare themselves “women” and be housed with females.

I was wondering when these corrections officers would speak up about this insanity.
The fact that only one so far has the guts to speak out just confirms my worst fears.
Idiots only following orders.
They've been speaking out. When male inmates were house at CCMF, a female joint, the officers there reached out to a female advocacy group. But nothing happened. There, they were trying to offer birth control to the female prisoners. Isn't this crazy.

They can't speak up publicly. They have been speaking up anonymously, but no one is listening. Hector is making huge waves for prison officials. They can't even debunk him.

This man was courageous to leave such a well compensated job, he was living well. Not every one is and I can't blame them and wouldn't want all the experienced staff to leave by being sacked for blabbing, or personal outrage. It IS totally outrageous, mad, bad and dangerous even.

We do speak up (former c/o) i felt the same way as l.t bravo. I left the department with 16.5 years.

My first roommate was a transgender man. It was very uncomfortable and awkward. But I had to survive. We had 2 other roommates so it was 4 of us in a 8 man cell. Nobody would live in there everyone was scared. and they were quiet and also introvert and kept to themselves . I got bullied and felt scared at times but managed to make it through. He got a girlfriend that was an aggressive female and he finally moved yards to live with the girlfriend. I remember a sense of relief cause I could finally breath. I felt a weight lifted off my shoulders. I'll never forget the frustration of being bullied by him and not being able to defend myself b caus I knew that was a fight ide never win. I know what these women are going through it's rough they hate women they are jealous and envious and cold to us.
I'm so sorry, it's barbaric. Newsom is an absolute disgrace to humanity.
Anyone who understands how incentives work could see self identification in prison would be a problem.
Why be in a male prison when you can be in a female prison? It is pretty simple

Hector, I just want to thank you again for speaking out on this issue that is happening in California prisons. You bring that to our attention which brings other things to our attention like biological males in female sports. You never hear of a biological female that says she is a male competing in professional men's sports because they know they will lose. So you are the catalyst of bringing this issue to America's attention. I think you for doing that sir.
