- Out trip takes an unexpected turn as the passengers request to go to Lanai. After spending a few days in Oahu, we made the very short flight from Honolulu to Lanai. Below is the flight in the Diamond with Hunter:

Not that Lanai is a common one for you guys, but as far as people complaining it's all the same when you're doing the usual Opa-Locka/Jersey runs, who cares? Ignore the haters, your content is fantastic and I'm sure I speak for lots of folks when I say we eat up every minute, whether we've seen it before or not! Thanks for every video!
You guys are consummate professionals , thanks for allowing us to fly with you.
Aloha, I was bummed that you guys flew through my airspace and I was not working. I work in the Tower/Approach at HNL. The Heading to 140 was issued with the PDC.
I like my sons watching this channel. Trying to get them to finish their ratings. My youngest son a senior did his multiple cross countries and has landed at LNY....
Fly Safe...
1025 thumbs up, 1 thumbs down, you guys are doing something right! thanks for sticking with the raw flying content, great stuff.
You stuck that landing like an Olympic gymnast, nice job. I got sweaty palms watching. Love the channel, keep them coming!!
lol
Short field in a G IV. I puckered a little on that one.
Beautiful landing. When the automation goes right from "50" to "30" you know you're putting it down. Awesome job!
The "Glideslope" warning was a nice touch too.
What a riot! I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who pulls in the driveway and says "Boards up, 6 green"!!
I'm a Contract Corporate Flight Attendant in Dallas if you ever need one. I Have experience on the GIV SP as well as G3, GV, 550.
You know the drill , young lady , you have to show us your nakamichis. If we like them your basically hired
@@runningkirkwa2934 lol
Excellent! We don't get to Dallas as often as I would like, but if we ever need someone in the area, I'll let you know!
@@CorporatePilotLife thank you!
this trip is fascinating! thanks for taking us along all the way to Bora Bora and back!
Y'all are truly the best, great content, making the difficult seem everyday normal, the owners are lucky to have you both in the cockpit!
"Good job".
Funny how, regardless how often you do a task, ever now and again a simple recognition by others of your good work goes a long way.
Shaun really nailed it 1st time I think I ever heard you guys say Flight Level Change, I feel so idiotic for not adding 1+1 up to equal Fletch. Jon doing his best "VIPER" imitation on landing with "Come On, Come On" ( See TOP GUN for the ref) Great video guys.
HAHAHAHA! I love it!
Nice landing Shaun. Fun episode flightwise!
Thanks for the Flight Guys .
Great short flight. Short runway at Lanai. Nice job.
Shaun - Good job landing
I know it might be kind of a taboo subject but an episode focusing on some the economics of flying this beast would be fascinating. e.g fuel burn per hour/ operational costs and a rough idea of hourly charter costs. Also, does a group usually book a return flight on a long distance trip like this? Do you wait around the area for days until the passengers are ready to leave? Anyway, love you guys! Hands down one of the best new aviation you tube channels over the past couple of years
From Gulfstream, it says Fuel Burn: 512 gph,
We have been planning out a video on that stuff for the near future. I just have to get out there and get it done. We pretty much always wait for the passengers to go home, so we get to enjoy the location in the mean time. Glad you like the videos!
@@bigd-1-channel514 Yee oooouch ow ow ow! I'd have to save up just to taxi it in a circle... :-)
Well done Shaun, you ran that in there like a dart and still only had 100 to spare, wouldn't want to see this with a heavy tail wind lol.So makes my day to get an alert of a new Corporate Pilot Life video
HAHA! Thanks!
Beautiful place nice flight
Corporate pilot life is pretty damn cool. You guys are everywhere!
Thanks guys another entertaining video you make it feel like we are right there with you
Does anyone else have some of the checklists and takeoff cadence memorized yet?
John B not even close
I do, nearly word for word... I don't know if I should be proud of that?? lol.
Sure do almost think I could do it.... lol well at least make it sound cool
Vamanos!!
I now say vamanos when I pull on to a runway. I wasn't even aware of it until my wife asked me why I say that.
Caught the 3 wire! Excellent greaser on a tricky field.
Another nice one. You guys should get carrier qualified and add "Call the ball"for some really short runways!
Very professional! You guys are like a ballet dancers feet! Everything in sync! Love watching!
HAHA! I'm not really sure how to take that. But thank you...I think lol
Maybe syncized swimmers better. Ment as a compliment tho. Lol
No worries...I took it that way. I just felt like being funny
I am trying to start my own channel. Check me out I'm just a simple country boy that loves to farm. May be boring to though.
Good to see a uncontrolled field landing once and awhile.
Starting to thinkTic Tacs are part of the G-IV minimum equipment list.
That's a no-go item!
Shaun, at 0:11, you are on the East side of the island. The North shore is still a long drive from where you are. My former home.
Another nice video guys!
The cockpit audio sounds better, I think I heard Jon smile?
That woman calling out traffic on approach definitely has her sh*t together. I guess she must be a Degree model because she was cool, calm, and under control. All the right info, at all the right time.
Not a whole lot of room for error, you guys made it look easy, nice one!
Happy to have found your subscription, Hawaii is my Home, I used to work KOA INTL ARPT OPS, my favorite was checking the RWY, really enjoy seeing all the islands in your videos even on your tour adventures. I'm stuck in LAS tomorrow makes three years here hoping to return Home to the Big Island KOA one day. Keep up your excellent professional flying and your island videos..! Awesomeness at its best..!
Mahalo Nui Loa..!!!
Great videos. I find them not only very educational, but also entertaining. I like how you guys find a way to sprinkle some humor in there to. These videos allow me to see beautiful places that I have never been and more than likely will never go. Keep up the good work and always have a safe flight :)
John I’m going to send you some Nebraska Huskers sox if you promise to rock them in one of your videos!!!! Lanai is beautiful 👍
That short rwy landing was definitely in the "nailed it" category. WTG!
Sweet video as always. Good job guys, thanks for sharing.
Chinaman's Hat in the background. Was lucky enough to live on Oahu for almost 4 years. Love your stuff, gents.
Nice landing on a short runway...I think that's the first time I've seen you guys use the thrust reversers!
Easy as pie for you guys
. GREAT landing!!
Great job, as always!... Now... time for John to narrate a video!!! =)
dunno why watching these flights relax me, also watching people cut trees down.... LOL
Excellent work, guys. 🤙🏼
Good job Guys!, I can almost smell those burning breaks:).
Outstanding short final. Nice landing!
Nice and short runway compared with what you used to. Nailed it.
16:34 LOL now who is breathing heavy in the mic!!!!!! Challenging runway with a great landing. Nice
That's called "Stickin' The Landing!" Nice jobs boys. I would have loved to see how much heat was coming off the mains after that landing.
Great sighting of the runway on final approach
Nice landing! For some reason the talk of winds and short runway led to some pucker factor, at least for this viewer. Great stuff!
Was that the sound of laughter at touch down @ 17:00
I think so, but not sure why...
Come on John, share your there to here storey! Inspire young up and coming pilots. The industry needs you!
Pele is the goddess of fire and volcanoes
Really great series guys! Keep em coming. :)
Holy crap! Well stuck fellas!
Thanks!
You stuck the landing....great job!! That's a short runway for that bird!!
Great flight, Shaun, and good job on that landing at Lanai. Enjoyed the flight. I do have to say that you guys got out of the Hawaiian Islands just in time, to miss Hurricane Lane. Look forward to seeing the video of the trip home (if you made one). Happy flying, and safe landings.
Nice landing on a tight runway. I want to see the take off.
Yes, that would be a very interesting take off for sure! Especially if everyone did a lot of souvenir shopping, but that jet could probably climb off that runway like a homesick angel if they need it to.
Full pucker factor engaged with that landing! Good job!
Just found you guys channel and I love the content! I work at the Gulfstream facility in Westfield, MA if you guys ever land there, should definitely grab a beer!
Welcome! I've never been to the Westfield Service Center before, but I heard you guys almost got that G-IV without tires last week. That would have been interesting.
Yeah, sadly they diverted the flight to NY due to Air National Guard sharing the field with us. Sure caused quite a bit of commotion though.
Wow that landing had me at the edge of my seat! Great video as always guys!
Wow that was good landing, we saw the runway end coming pretty fast but you guys had everything under control. Can't wait for the next episode of you Pacific Trip :)
That was some terrific hand-flying to stick the landing like that on a short field! Well done! I'll admit to a little pucker factor of my own seeing the PAPI go all red on short final.
Yeah...PAPIs are great, but I hate wasting all that runway when there isn't much to start with
Beautiful video and sceneries once again! Did you guys go out to Ko Olina lagoons while in Oahu?
Beautiful area, we stayed in a nice condo on the golf course, just before they started building the Disney out there.
Man that runway was tight for your G4 wasnt it! Never been there before so looking forward to seeing the place if you post a video about your stay there. I dont know how I missed your posting this one right away as I had been looking for one. Great job setting her down Shaun,! Was holding onto my cell phone a little tighter on that one lol. Aloha!
Unfortunately, we didn't make it to Ko Olina on this trip. We spent most of our time on the North and East sides of the island. That runway was a little tight, but I had plenty of brakes left had it been shorter.
@@CorporatePilotLife It must have been a fun landing, I could hear a gaggle of Gal's giggling in the background.
Thanks for sharing the cool videos of your island hopping adventures. I remember being at that park on the North Shore of Oahu quite a few years ago. Great spot away from the crowds. We had a C-130 with us on that trip and the runway at Lanai would have been no problem. Didn't quite have the same creature comforts and modern avionics of your G-IV though.
That C-130 is a beast of a plane! I love that thing...
Pele, goddess of Fire. You are correct.
Just gotta say that it's very cool to see these airports that I've only visited via X-Plane.
Wow I can hear the passengers in the back. Chartering a G4 is the way to go.
Cool landing at Lanai!
Love to see your passenger manifest!
That was cool, slowed with runway to spare.
Just looked, that runway is 5001 feet long, looked shorter, I guess I'm used to seeing you guys land on 10,000 foot runways. Still nice work. Paul
yeah...5000 is on the short end for what we are comfortable with. We have used a 4200 foot runway before and the pucker factor was pretty high.
Cool shot of Diamond head at 18:15 approx.
Great Vid!! Some nice hand flying there!!!
Great video. Loved this one.
I met a couple last Sunday (Aug. 26th) at a local café here in Michigan that just returned from a honeymoon in Bora Bora the previous day. They said they had a great but VERY expensive time on the islands. Because of what I learned from your recent Bora Bora videos I was able to ask intelligent questions about their trip. I almost mentioned Presidential Air as their possible carrier, but I thought they may have taken that as too personal of a question. A "red flag" sort of thing. :-)
Very cool! I'm pretty sure it wasn't our clients. Hopefully they had a great time! It is expensive though...
Very short landing :) NICE
Nice landing! Almost needed the drag chute. ; )
Sean and John love your channel those are amazing flights that you're doing I've never been to one I know I don't think I've heard of Lanai but have a great time Walter fisser from Alhambra California
Thrilling!
Must of had considerable density altitude for such a short strip of runway. Fine job, Shawn.
Bring on the next part!
Bang on the money. Nailed it, pretty to watch.
Wish I was still there. i would have given you guys a tour of the GIV's with the cargo doors at VR-51 on Marine Corps Base Hawaii... Enjoy paradise!
That would have been awesome! I've seen a few of those from a distance, and always wanted to see one up close
Yeah right! Next time in Paris "beers and lies" brother. Fly safe!
great episode!
Amazing landing !
Greetings from West Palm Beach
My friend Gordon working the center!
Earned the paycheck on that landing. Nice.
That 140 heading out of HNL is for noise abatement. They keep you over the water rather than over the city.
Nobody goes to Lanai! Good show! I learned to talk on Oahu (Nursery School / Navy Brat). Hawaiian Pacific Trade Pidgin. They thought there was something wrong with me when I got to Kindergarten in Monterey, Calif.
HAHA...that's awesome!
Pele' is the God of soccer..just saying....
T T
Beat me to it
The biggest regret in my life was selling my Breitling B1 watch. Everytime I watch your vlogs i see your Breitling on your wrist and I inch closer to not being able to fight another purchase. Keep up the good work boyo’s. Oh and I’m still waiting for that “Vamonos” merch. Copywrite my idea BTW ;)
Since being married, my wife has bought me all three of my watches. The Breitling is definitely my favorite.
Corporate Pilot Life They are my favorite watch as well. Really regret selling it, but at the time I needed the money. I sold it for the same price I bought it for and it was 5 years old. They really hold their value.
+1 On Vamanos merch!
What! No tail hook? You did a fine job, greased it yet again!
Hey Sean, do you have a complete preflight video online for the GIV? If not can you create one? I’m interested to see the difference between a GIV and a Citation V. Clear skies and safe landings Captain!
I wouldn't call this a complete pre-flight, but it's the closest I have up:
czcams.com/video/KtNM3uxCWdI/video.html
It's been ~20 years since I've been to Lanai. It used to be all pineapple fields. When Dole stopped growing the opened up two resorts that looked nice (and expensive - I vistied there via sailboat.) Has there been more development since?
Also, I was suprised to see you using the reef runway.. Were 4L/R unavailable? That's a LONG taxi to 8R
Actually the only hotel on Lanai is the Four Seasons. It is definitely not very developed at all, but I'm not sure how it looked then. Not sure why they put us on the reef runway, everything was open
ever thought about grabbing a GoPro Fusion? reckon you could get some amazing shots on that front facing windscreen cam
I have thought about it, just haven't moved on it yet. I'm leaning towards the Garmin 360 though. I've been having pretty consistent issues with the GoPro cameras randomly failing on me.
That Gulfstream eats up runway quick on landing..never really notice it as you're usually on large ones, but did in this one. But a fine job by all once again. Are we getting close to a cockpit vid of the new additions, or is that a ways off yet? Just anxious to see them..and n this one are those borrowed engines given you guys fits? Looks like some vibration or uneven flow..and I'm sure you guys will glad to get hers back on her..if they're not already.
I'm waiting on the official FAA approval to use the new upgrades. It's nothing too crazy, but I'll get it done as soon as I can. Our engines should be ready soon, then those issues will be gone
Jon's comment about the engines at the 7:57 mark makes me worry about those darn engines, not the 1st remark I've heard.
Bet you guys will be glad to have your regular fans back! I havent heard anything mentioned about them in any videos but maybe I missed something and theyre in being worked over or rebuilt, whatever it is that needs to be done to jet engines periodically. I hope you get them back soon Shaun!
Ok, sounds good, and didn't know the FAA approval still hadn't happened, know they sometimes drag their feet a bit, but didn't know it would be that long on your items, hope it is approved soon.
Cool, I didn’t get to visit Lanai during my last trip to Hawaii!
07:35 Jon imitates John Candy's laugh :) :)
Hey Guys, Pele is the Hawaiian GODDESS of fire. Not surprised its a woman in that powerful position. Step on the ball, Bob
Good job Landing I got nervous little bit watching this 🛬
Safe Landing!
